  1. OK, there's the lead. Keep the foot on the gas.
  2. Things are so weird today.
  3. What a highwire act.
  4. Tough call to pinch-hit for Blevvy. He's still needed to face Harper.
  5. Pickoffs are good too!
  6. Two outs, runner on first, Blevvy vs. Harpy. Where's Josh Edgin, man?!
  7. El Paso 8, Las Vegas 5 Strong start by P.J. Conlon is supported by Ty Kelly and José Lobaton, but the bullpen (Logan Taylor, Matt Purke, and Jamie Callahan) utterly collapsed, giving up seven runs in three innings. Binghamton 4, Portland 3 An even better start by Nabil Crismatt also gets no bullpen support, but the Rumble Ponies hold on to a lead built with the help of a double and homer from Pete Alonso and another homer from John Mora. Binghamton 4, Portland 3 An even better start (one hit through six) by Nabil Crismatt also gets no bullpen support, but the Rumble Ponies hold on to a lead built with the help of a double and homer from Pete Alonso and another homer from John Mora. Bradenton 7, St. Lucie 6 The Lucies rallied for four runs to tie in the ninth and went ahead in the top of the 10th, but the Marauders came back to win in the bottom of the inning with a rally that started with an Andres Gimenez error. Augusta 10, Columbia 5 The Fireflies led through five, 5-2, but bullpen collapses are the theme of the day, and Columbia's Stephen Villines, Darwin Ramos, and Conor O'Neil allowed eight runs over the last three, undermining 11 hits for the Columbians. 2016 first-rounder Anthony Kay gave up two runs in four innings in his first pro start after 18 months away from the field recovering from Tommy John surgery. 10. Whoah. Thanks, wind.
  11. One run home and the bags juicy with Rendon at the dish. Not reassuring.

  13. No runs, but good job grinding out the at-bats in the first inning.
  14. Hubba, hubba!
  15. Went 3-4 with a double and a homer in his rehab game with Vegas last night. He'll probably get outrighted as soon as his rehab assignment ends, but a good start is nice to see.
  16. I don't know about you, but I was totally expecting to make this team. (I mean, you probably weren't expecting yourself to make the team, but this is a thread of expectations about me.) But we came in with nine guys looking to join a rotation. Two of them got hurt, and six of them outpitched me. To the Mets thinking, anyhow. To my thinking? I think this is bullshit. But what are you going to do. Go down to Vegas and pitch your way back in a run-scoring environment that is actually tougher on pitchers than the big leagues are. So far, I've thrown five innings in my first start, allowing one run on three hits and one walk, striking out six. That's the way you do it. I even went 2-2. More of that, and who knows? Either I work my way home or they trade me for pinch hitter or a prospect or something. Which way is it gonna break for me? I'm a big leaguer! 17. That yearbook frequently appears on ebay as a 1973.
  18. Phillies 20 Marlins 1 The Phils got grand slams from Maikel Franco and Aaron Altherr. One doesn't want to gloat, because anybody who watched the 2017 Mets knows bad days happen and sometimes truly awful ones occur. But those 20 runs represent more than the (MLB best) Mets have allowed all season.
  19. I don't like it. The perspective of the flag is cold and removed and terrifyingly high. "N.L. Championship - World Series Edition" doesn't know whether it wants to be centered or flush right and winds up being neither. It uses a hyphen where it means to use an m-dash, because somebody just doesn't give a shit. It's a subtitle that is up top where the publication's title should be, and it frankly isn't particularly clear about what it's trying to say. You had Rusty and Seaver and Fightin' Buddy, and Believin' Tug and you could have done better. I love a single definitive, encapsulating photo. I do, but this isn't it. And even if it was, that doesn't absolve you from mailing in the layout, which they clearly showed themselves to be doing when they overlooked the glaring typo. 2006 shows that sometimes a collage takes you further.
  20. The St. Lucie Mets followed their rousing opening day victory by dropping the next two. Chad Kreuter has returned to manage the Mets Florida State entry, and he looks to capitalize on the redundancy of bullpen arms brought in at the end of 2017. Besides opening day starter Justin Dunn top prospects Andres Gimenez and Desmond Lindsay dot his roster, along with intriguing outfielder-turned-infielder-turned-pitcher Jeff Diehl. After three games, Dash Winningham is already two homeruns into his season, and the big firstbaseman looks to unload again today in support of Harol Gonzalez, making his 2018 debut against the Bradenton Marauders. 21. Boyd's signed with the St. Paul Saints. See ya, Shauna!
  22. I came to the Mets in 2006 in one of Omar Minaya's games of Two Teams Swap a Bag of Relievers. I left the Mets in 2008 in another one of Omar Minaya's games of Two Teams Swap a Bag of Relievers. You don't like what we're offering? Here, have another reliever. Since then, I've bounced around the American League winning 80 games as a second-tier but terribly reliable lefthanded starting pitcher. When I'm not painting album covers for The Cars, I'm doing Jon Lovitz imitations, and when I'm not doing that, I'm throwing 180-210 innings per season. That's my reputation, but now that my contract is signed, I'll be honest: it doesnt' always work out. It didn't in 2015 and 2016, during which I threw only 55 innings combined. It may not this year either, seeing as how the team has eight starters I'm the only one opening the season on the DL. It wasn't supposed to work out like this, but hey, the story is still being written. I pitched a sim game today, and pretty soon, I'll start pitching real ones. What happens when I do? You tell me. 23. Four outs for Fammy going for the five-out save. Matt Adams up.
  24. Mickey getting matchup happy in this eighth inning. Blevins vs. Harper is your headliner.
  25. Edgy MD wrote: Big test for Mickey. Conforto hits for Flores, so does he go into right with Bruce moving in to first? We need to make that move, Mick. Nothing personal, Adrian Gonzalez, but booo!
