  6. Gselly a little gsmelly tonight. And all of a sudden, Tim Peterson is our high-leverage go-to guy.
  7. I was thinking the same thing. >>> "YOU'RE OUT!!" >>> >>> "I want a review." >>> "YOU'RE BALD, TOO!!"
  8. Welcome to first base, Kazzy!
  9. Great shot of Torre playing first in his muscle shirt.
  10. Oooh, we're on PIX tonight!
  11. Despite his Joe Morgan-ish build (5'9", 190), the Mets seem to really like third-rounder Carlos Cortes, as they had previously drafted him in the 21st round in 2016, only to be rebuffed when the utility guy honored his commitment to be a Cock and go to the University of South Carolina. Cortes the Killer is penciled in at second but he's played all over the infield and outfield, caught, and even done some pitching. Note that designation below next to "B/T." That's no typo. The guy throws righthanded when playing the infield or catching, and lefthanded when playing the outfield. That's always cool, and he seems to be impressively ambidextrous, but he bats exclusively lefthanded. 12. I noticed Jarred Kelenic was absent from the GCL lineup today. And then I realized he was scheduled to be in New York to take some big league bp and probably get an introduction before the game. He's coming out in style, having gone 8-13 with a double and a triple to start off his career in the GCL. That's a .615 / .615 / .846 // 1.462 start! I imagine he won't be heading back to Florida, but rather flying down to the South Atlantic League to join the Kingsport Mets. He might even stick around to become a Brooklyn Cyclone. Probably not, but we'll see.
  13. Hell, yeah. They're gonna give in to my demands sooner or later. Might as well be sooner.
  14. Rosario and Nimmo back in the lineup. And Cabrera just won't be sat down.

Because he comes across like a Trump-era, self-promoting snake oil salesman; video of his training sessions makes him seem abusive and reckless; and the proliferation of back injuries on his watch supports this impression.
  16. Don't count Dan Norman out! Meanwhile, José Reyes enjoyed an uncontested steal of third last night, adding to his team-leading and all-active-player-leading career totals. Two more and he ties Patsy Donovan and Jack Doyle for 31st place, all-time.
  17. I had forgotten about this guy: Oregon State pitcher Luke Heimlich goes undrafted for second straight year Well, you either believe his retroactive claim of innocence or you don't. I have no way of knowing. But if you believe he did it, I don't care how apologetic he is now. Royals GM Dayton Moore openly considering signing Heimlich.
  18. "Our pitching coach has been crass, crude, and embarrassingly insensitive. We need to get a 1986 Met in there!"
  19. The thing is, it's not like he didn't perform well before his injuries derailed him. He did and he was totally noticed. He even won a Cape Cod League batting title, which totally isn't nothing. What's new is the punch which he has never shown before. It's lack had previously downgraded him as a third-base prospect, and forced him to work more at second. But now, some future at third isn't out of the question. There could be some Daniel Murphy in there. More speed than Murphy, too, I think.
  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Familia must have been upset because he couldn't believe Cabrera couldn't make that play. Maybe the Ruben Tejada wound never healed for some of these Mets. Meanwhile, 1-0 in the Ricco-Riccardi-Minaya era.
  21. Maybe a little trolling is a bad thing. If anything is going to turn Harvey into Harvey again, it's going to be raising his level of anger above his level of self-pity. #psychology
  22. I think we can be (though we shouldn't be) very binary about farm systems, and overweigh rankings which, as researched as they are, arbitrarily ignore or marginalize several meaningful factors. That said, I not only have philosophical problems with how players are deployed in the bigs, but also with how players are developed. The notion that a player can't be asked to bunt because he was never asked in the minors is weepingly insufficient. The idea that you shouldn't press Rosario too hard about his strike zone judgment because you "don't want to take away his aggressiveness" is a floating taco turd of a cliche in the unflushed toilet of the organizational cocktail party. I still believe the talent is there. Oh, and can we please move on from the Mike Barwis era?
  23. Whoah, The Thing beats me to the punch again.
