Well, I think we have little idea how he's performed defensively in the minors. Calling somebody off quicker, that's an experience issue. But you have two inexperienced players out there, one brand new to the position, and that's the sort of thing that happens. Mick chose to go into extra innings with an out-of-position neophyte in left, and got burned for it. Beyond that, though, they had 12 innings and ample opportunity to push a second run across.

10 cents worth of small ball and contact hitting and this game is in the Mets' pocket well before midnight.

I somehow missed out on this one. You literally can't get sent down further than from the New York Mets to the DSL Mets 2. It's like getting knocked back down nine rungs of the ladder. Anyhow he's already made one appearance, a non-typical four-inning stint, giving up 0 runs on 1 hit, walking 0 and striking out 3. Two of the stupidest, cheapest run scoring plays you'll see all year. Otherwise, the Mets shut this team down for 13 innings. I guess Rhame gets his 17th recall tomorrow.

Yup, the pitcher hitting in the bottom of the inning. Maybe that means Syndergaard. I might recommend, when confronted with Flores and Smith in the same lineup, going with Smitty at first and Flores in left.

For fuck's sake.

Did you see Mesoraco chase d'Arnaud?

Think Matz or Oswald are available out of the pen?

Maybe Frazier should have had the night off after all.

Zamora's curve is as good as that salad under his cap. But these days, he too often continues to look like a clumsy marionette out there, operated by an overexcited Von Trapp child. Especially when he's going back into the outfield. Was there any other kind of Von Trapp child besides the overexcited ones? Well, Liesl was mostly cool-headed — at least until the delivery boy would come around.

And now they've burned Sewald.

Sewald should be the last guy out of the pen tonight.

Frazier. My office.

Melancon has a scared look. Get to it, Mets.

I'm glad to see Smith's one-day return to the roster get extended, especially after he clubbed the Mets' only extra-base hit last night. Oh, flock.

Shift almost allowed Hunter Pence to beat out an infield hit.

Man, did Wheeler get screwed by the shift this inning.

Wowller.

Do a hit-and-run!

Seven-pitch sixth. Not to get ahead of things, but the Mets have a chance a their second complete game in a week.

I think it's always been that good, but now he's setting it up better with better location on the fastball.

Love Wheeler's curveball.

So, what do you think of Syndergaard's deadpan act?
