And there's the bunt. Small-ball-tastic.

And then he beats out an infield hit. Astounding. He's not a Cy Young. He's an MVP.

deGrom is incredible.

That looked like a hyperextended knee.

I think I remember Wrigley having a relatively fast gun, but that's the first time I remember deGrom hitting the century.

Whoosh.

Or whiff.

Mets threatening first and third in the first. And yeah, go ahead and bunt, Conforto. Sorry to be tiresome.

Binghamton won a wild one tonight, with Franklyn Kilome getting hit by a pitch in the top of the third and then getting tossed after returning the favor to Hartford pitcher Ryan Castellani in the bottom of the inning. Jhoan Urena (again), Joey Terdoslavich, and pinch-hitter Will Toffey all homered, but the Ponies had to hang on for a one run win in the ninth as the Yard Goats loaded the bases with one out against Joshua Torres before he got them on a grounder/force-at-home and a strikeout looking.

Nonetheless, considering the 100 things that can go wrong, it behooves him to set expectations real low. Promise low, and deliver high. That's what my pimp always told me.

Luis Ayala: Acquired from Washington in mid August for Anderson Hernandez, and became the Mets closer for the last weeks of 2008, as a torn UCL ended Billy Wagner's season. Omar Minaya's lesson from seeing his big investment in a "proven closer" blow up in the team's face was to go out and get two proven closers for 2009.

Murphy it is. Muff went 3-4 with a walk and three homers on May 26, 2008, raising his average to .332 and his slugging percentage to ... something impressively high. He'd be in the bigs by August 2, jumping past AAA and going right to the majors along with Nick Evans.

Not Lucas, although he is someone who is currently big-leaguing.

Neither the Husk nor the Bow homered thrice in one contest for the Bingos. Hint: It happened May 26, 2008.

Jhoan Urena last night against The Hartford Yard Goats First Inning: Grand slam. Third Inning: Solo homer. Sixth Inning: Grand slam. Yeah, he made outs his last two trips to the plate, but nine RBI is a pretty good couple of weeks, and the Rumble Ponies walked off with a 12-2 win. For fun and games and romance, guess the last Binghamton player to hit three homers in a game. [fimg=500]https://secure.milb.com/assets/images/6/5/0/292212650/cuts/960x540/cut.jpg[/fimg]

Two bad called strikes and Jackson goes down to end it.

The pitcher wearing shades is weird enough. Doing it in a night game is goofy.

bmfc1 wrote: They need to clear space in the OF and a slot on the roster (even though September 1 is near) for Nimmo. If they don't move Bautista, they can easily clear space by removing one of their three catchers or 29 relievers.

Jay Bruce comes in and Madden does the unthinkable and pulls his closer. Tying run up, man!

There's always hop when there's Strop.

Oh, bunt, man.

Mickey is clearly trying to supermanage Lugo's and Gsellman's innings, keeping them out of games even when they are rested, even when the game is within a run (last night) or tied (tonight).

After the replay review awards him a double, Rizzo asks if he has to touch first. Baseball has gotten so weird. If you hit a homer, guys, the runners and batter should just jog back to the dugout.

It's nice to know Murphy can still singlehandedly tear the Mets down.
