Yeah, Coco is totally the one I'd go out of my way for. Man, you just used the word "filligreed." I feel like that's a forum first.

Either nobody offered him a contract for 2020 or he wasn't interest in coronaball, but despite missing a season at age 37, and having to look back to 2017 for the last time he was of use, somebody still wants to give him a tumble for 2021. Having his playing career with the Mets largely defined by triggering a siezure a young player by sharing your weed with him in a parking lot, I salute him for being welcomed back to the organization, in a position of authority over young players, no less. It gives me hope that there is a second act for all of us after a professional mis-step. And hey, he did give the Mets what was likely the best season of his career. Beyond that, though, it irks me when I see the last staff move a team makes in the offseason being the hiring of an African-American to coach first. Tarasco has been part of respectable coaching staffs in Washington and Oakland, and has nothing to prove to anybody, but the eleventh-hour hire of the African-American to coach first, baserunning, and outfielding has become an embarrassing cliché that makes it feel like tokenism and an afterthought. I'm probably making too much of that, but it's worth an investigation to see what percentage of African-American coaches get the first base job. Pixar films I have never seen: A Bug's Life Cars (I think I bailed at about the half-hour mark on this.) Cars 2 Monsters University Cars 3 The Good Dinosaur Coco Onward

Gosh, terrific. We haven't sampled yet. Ranking is over-rated, and I guess rating is over-ranked, but I tried to think of what I would consider my top-five Pixar films, and that's some pretty hard-to penetrate territory.

Weird.

The delusion that the right to free speech means you are protected from having to account for what you speak (or write) is degrading so much. Community can't survive lying with impunity. You know what was a good adjective that isn't used much any more? "No-account." I'm bringing it back.

Wow, two Pixars for the price of one.

I'll give you a head-start on 2021 with this still from 2019's Toy Story 4 featuring what is believed to be a bobblehead doll of Met-to-be Rickey Henderson. https://images.daznservices.com/di/library/sporting_news/39/b9/rickey-henderson-toy-story-4-ftr_z9zxdqcl6zqf15skawaz2m7fr.png?t=2103316506&quality=100>

I wonder how many instances there are of top pitchers being traded and their favorite catcher being sent along with him. I imagine there are at least a few, but R.A. Dickey and Josh Thole is the only one that jumps to mind. Carlton and McCarver doesn't quite qualify.

Was that from a news outlet or is it a high-def video still?

We can pull that off, but we need a nominee from evuhbody.

No other nominees have landed yet. I'll also offer "Dominic Smith kneeling for Jacob Blake." It's 8/27/2020. I don't have a photographer credit, but I believe Newsday is the source. (It's certainly where I'm referencing it here.)

My shorthand is that the KBO plays at about a high-A level of competition. That may be somewhat dated, and they may be moving closer to AA.

Walks. Lots and lots of walks.

An important part of the Hodges argument is combining the managing and playing careers into one legacy. I don't know if Posnanski is doing that.

Both excellent defining moments. My most defining memory was an extra-inning foul ball he hit in his first MLB game. It shook me out of a state I'd been in since 1977.

Others I'd put ahead of Coop include Jack Clark, Al Oliver, Don Mattingly, Darrell Evans, and maybe Steve Garvey. And I like Cecil. I'd probably put him ahead of Richie Hebner or Bill Buckner. Don Baylor and Chris Chambliss too.

You're a lifelong Mets fan who made it big in the world of big money, and went and bought the team. In order to begin building a positive connection with the fanbase, you consent to take questions from the field. A "noted nostalgia based Met blogger" asks you for a specific Darryl Strawberry memory, preferably an at-bat memory. What is your answer?

I'm not sure I remember where I was — most likely because it was Saturday night and I was probably watching alone at my parents' house like the massive sad sack I was.
