He had been mostly good for the Mets through 2018, but was hit really hard at three different levels in 2019.
  3. Get with the program. You're about http://thecranepool.net/phpBB32/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28215twenty months behind.
  4. A Boy Named Seo wrote: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That sums it up, doesn't it? And as with so many late-career reclamation projects, who you go for or don't go for may be too dependent on which days you happen to be scouting him, from which it's hard to gauge how many times through the rotation his arm is going to respond. You don't want to miss an opportunity in signing such a guy, but you sure want to be in a position where you have to go into the season depending on him for anything.
  5. Did history ever give us a pornier ballplayer? 6. Yeah, agreed. But the difference is how much evidence you compile on your way out the door.
  7. CoCo has apparently been punched with an https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2925650-mets-owner-steve-cohen-subject-of-gender-discrimination-complaintugly little gender discrimination suit.

HRB also played infield along with relieving in college, and has expressed a hope to keep doing that as a pro. Hopefully, going indy gives him that chance. It's worth wondering how much ground the indy leagues may be able to gain in 2021, with a wider array of talent opened up by the closed-down affiliated leagues.
  9. Probably not a whole lot of room in the Hall of Fun for Kenny Rogers.
  10. Bob Friend, Kenny Rogers, Al Leiter, Robin Ventura, Mo Vaughn, Randy Myers, Moisés Alou, Frank Tanana, Julio Franco, Jeff Reardon, John Franco, Kevin Appier, Tony Phillips, Bartolo Colón, Mel Fuckin' Stottlemyre.
  11. =nymr83 post_id=53250 time=1609870511 user_id=54] Sheffield is already there. None of the other guys you are naming are, in my mind, even worth much HOF discussion much less deserve to be in. I didnt even know Candelaria was a Met

Even though he's moved on, he gave the team 58 really solid innings in Brooklyn back in 2019, so chalk up a point to Adam Rubin. The Florence franchise in the Frontier League? They're called the "Y'All's," for Pete's sake.
  15. I don't like this cover either, but it's getting some benevolent matchups.
  16. =nymr83 post_id=53223 time=1609817608 user_id=54] Cone already made the list as did Kent. I can't imagine most of those guys have anything resembling a legit hall of fame case. Bonilla is the only maybe, but I'd have to think there is no way he's be the top 16 not yet revealed
  17. I began watching this one this evening and hope to finish it tomorrow. So far, it has some interesting parallels with Soul — a protagonist who is born to be a musician, but isn't supported by his family, despite apparently inheriting the gift from a late family member, along with a passage between the worlds of the living and the dead. 20. Catching up on some old associates who found a new calling in months past without attracting the notice of Mets Roster Central's third watch, who have all been sent back to remedial training. The Things are a long-time Frontier League franchise with a name inspired by a long-time stupid movie (sorry, but you know this is true). When the Frontier League shut down operations, though, the Thingies joined with three other orphaned teams in something called the "Yinzer Baseball Confederacy," a one-year Brigadoon of a circuit that played all their games out of one park in the Pittsburgh area. I suppose it's about as fringy as professional ball can get, but playing for pay anywhere in 2020 was a triumph. Going to Syracuse in 2019 as the third option at catcher, waiting for a call to be #2 was hardly an undignified assignment when that call was almost certainly (and ultimately was) going to be coming in a matter of weeks. I'd give his agent shit for letting his client walk away with money on the table, but Devin's agent parlayed one All-Star season in 2014 into a terrific amount of money over the course of a contract that worked out terribly for Cincinnati, so he gets a pass.
  21. His behavior is position-player-throwing-a-mopup-ninth from where I sit. As for his best work, I look at it as if his agent is Lionel Hutz saying, "Hey, he won a Cy Young in 2020, and that was kind of a season."
  22. I was less overwhelmed than you, I think. I liked the real-world NYC they created more than the cosmic world. Also, and this may speak to my comprehension, some of the epiphanies, while rendered inspiringly, were ambiguous in meaning. I would have liked a little epilogue to find out how the stories of the two main characters continued.
