  1. Conforto just added some icing here. Pretty cool to get around on the ball one pitch after the guy throws a ball between your legs. Maybe we're going to do some Brachali chopping in the bottom of the inning.
  2. Frayed Knot wrote: Yeah, throwing four wide ones for intentional walks is what slows the game down. The Phil's have had more mound conferences this inning than the Mets have had batters. The Phils did some major league stalling there.
  3. I assume we're seeing mas Castro in the bottom of the seventh.
  4. Fantastic, Nimmo. Take what you're given.
  5. Bloated for Nimmo. Three walks already. I have Nimms take a strike.
  6. We're at 85 pitches. I'm thinking that's the new 100.
  7. Alonso is quite goaltender today.
  8. Keith is discussing a sexual lubricant on air.
  9. Do it again, Dom.
  10. Let's chase this junker this inning.
  11. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: It's very nice where it is. A little more unity between the fairgrounds and the park would be nice but you got the tennis stadium and a big railyard between em. It is, indeed. I just don't like the cycle of neglect and rehabilitation it goes through. Maintenance. And I'm also covetous for cool things going to the Mets. And I always liked the Mets home's link to the World's Fair development, even knowing what I now know about the park and fair being one more Robert Moses debacle.
  12. First run given up by a Mets starter right there.
  13. I wouldn't mind the Unisphere being moved to Citi Field's campus.
  14. Dombombs are also nice.
  15. Alonso laying off the slider away is something nice.
  16. I always thought a fun once-a-year look would be to stylize your uniform after that of your sibling franchises — such as the Jets or the Isles in the Mets' case. MLB could even do NFL weekend and there would be awesome controversy over some sad-sack team forced to partner with a fake sibling. Like the Cubs' uniforms would be stylized on the Bears colors and brand, but the poor White Sox would be rocking the Saints' fleur-de-lis or something.
  17. I guess MLB managed to find somebody who wanted the game. And the draft.
  18. Just speculatin', and certainly not justifyin', but I imagine this wasn't really put out there as his opening day lineup, so much as it was the lineup he was preparing to go with in game four against the Phillies lefty, thinking before the season that it would be a good time to start rotating some subs like Pillar in there.
  19. Such a distinctive smell this card has. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51vJoen37oL._AC_.jpg> I'll say it again. I think prioritizing the bullpen is a fool's errand. The best thing you can do for your bullpen is to use them as little as possible.
  20. Tom McCarthy is the Phillies pbp guy that was with the Mets for a bit. I don't believe that the problem lies in Jacob deGrom's personality.
  21. What I was hoping to find this morning was an audio clip of Phillies announcers at the moment he was pulled. Phillies phans in my pheed all spoke of pheeling the game was a lost cause until deGrom was liphted.
  22. I spent the offseason contemplating why they don't let effective pitchers pitch.
  23. =bmfc1 post_id=59698 time=1617713004 user_id=73] Counterargument: Jake only would have pitched one more inning and Castro didn't allow a run in the 7th so taking Jake out one inning too early didn't cost them the game as May would have likely started the 8th regardless of who pitched the 7th. I'm not sure if I buy it but I'm throwing it out there for consideration.
  24. I don't think the issue is a weak pen at all. That, to me, is overthinking it, and plays into the logical trap that we're stuck in. If you have peak-value Wilhelm, Eckersley, and Rivera available in the pen, you still don't lift deGrom unless/until the situation necessitates it.
