  1. Gary is crushing on Banda.
  2. I'm not sure, but I think as Nimmo reached first and pointed to the sky, Freddie stood next to him and looked up with him.
  3. =kcmets post_id=72633 time=1627346602 user_id=53] The first game should have started at 3:10.
  4. Well, two scoreless innings to start this game makes the shutout in game one that much more official.
  5. http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png> Nimmo cf Alonso 1b McNeil 2b Smith lf Davis 3b Conforto rf Villar ss McCann c Various p How about Guillorme, playing against the lefty and sitting against the righty?
  6. Terrific second inning by Familia. After the inning, the ump asked to see his hat. Familia gave it to him and then his glove. The ump declined, with a, "No, I don't need to check the glove." And Familia was all, "No, please, check it." Very nice.
  7. Well, there's an argument against swinging at the first pitch, particularly against somebody who just walked the previous guy.
  8. Great job by Drury, who really should have been in the lineup this game.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Gary just blew that non-homerun call like his last name was Thorne. Perhaps Gary saw the umps incorrect signal. I imagine that's exactly what happened. He additionally added that he heard a thunk that was characteristic of a ball hitting off the back wall. I saw the shockwave going through the padding on the wall and I thought it was obviously in the park.
  10. Mets really would do well to get on the board here.
  11. Seven innings here. Mets need to strike.
  12. Gary just blew that non-homerun call like his last name was Thorne.
  13. Sweet bunt for Stro, but I wanted him to go for two after it got behind the thirdbaseman.
  14. Wow. Great escape for Stro.
  15. Julian Casablancas is something less than a compelling interview subject.
  16. Mueller not impressing me. Players seem to be getting a long look at his offspeed pitches.
  17. Especially considering that goat is practically a free out.
  18. Baseball America is back with a midseson list, placing five Met prospects in their Hot 100, or four, depending on how you count Kumar Rocker. Best news is that most are rising, despite the debris field that the Mets minor league system looks like performance-wise this year. One (Vientos) is sort of rebounding. 18. Francisco Alvarez, C Up one from the pre-season list, and not as chunky as he looked earlier in the year 65. Bret Baty, 3B He's in the middle of a tear, and he's up a flaming 29 slots from his pre-season ranking. 66. Kumar Rocker, SP Not under contract. Not under contract. One worthwhile thing to not overlook is that he could open up the massive South Asian marketplace to Metsiness. 71. Ronny Mauricio, SS It was partially a recognition of Mauricio's advancement that the team was able to deal off Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenez in one fell swoop. Mo is enjoying a power surge this season, but still underwhelming in his contact and on-basiness, leading to drop of 21 slots from the pre-season rankings. He's totally built up his body over last year, and I think he needs to get comfortable with his manliness. Still ranked higher than either of the Yankee shortstop prospects on the list. 97. Mark Vientos, 3B — Mets He's moved from short to third and may yet be asked to move to first, but he's one of the youngest players in AA (and that honor almost never goes to a domestic-born player) and he's hitting the piss out of the ball.
  19. =MFS62 post_id=72585 time=1627312033 user_id=60]Very suspicious that they didn't (can't?) name the part of the body that has a medical problem.
  20. As we continue to catch up, we review a whirlwind of moves over a two-day period. Just what does that entail? Is the manager allowed to be in the clubhouse and on the field with his team before the game as they prepare and practice, and he just has to make sure he's not there when the ump says "Play ball"? If he's banned from the facilities, is he in violation of the suspension if he texts a player or sends his coaches a morning e-mail? Next, let's look at Blankenhoney? Can you think of any other Mets being demoted the day after winning PotG (which I assume he did)? I would think that's pretty-assed rare. Lastly, Anthony Banda. Those specs are just part of his secret identity, right? Actually, not lastly. Lastly, we must think of Johneshwy Fargas, whose life is starting to look like a Leadbelly song. Monday he's rehabbing with St. Lucie. Tuesday, he gets a second rehab assignment with Bingo, which he doesn't need, but there's no room for him at the moment for Syracuse. Thursday, he's activated from the IL, but that assignment to Binghamton becomes official. Friday, he's designated for assignment. Yes, he's almost done. Not a very good advertisement for giving up your body for the team. When I was a coach, I drilled into the players to catch the ball with two hands, as I had been drilled. As soon as that ball hits your glove, slap your throwing hand on top of it. But there were always two or three players who listened too well, and were so eager to use two hand that they'd slap their throwing hand into the glove an instant before the ball arrived, and would have their poor wee hands ... smashed. Peraza is one of those kids. If Eickhoff, Hartlieb, and Stock don't open up an accounting firm when this is all over, I'll be very disappointed.
  21. Walker has shot his load for 2021. Next. Really? I know you like throw guys overboard and call "Next" but I can't imagine why. I think next right now is Jesús Reyes, and he's 0-8 // 6.52. In AAA.
  22. I can't recall my Dad ever parking anywhere else.
  23. dinosaur jesus wrote: MFS62 isn't kidding. Ashburn and Coleman were seventh and eighth on the team in home runs in 1962. Ashburn had a career-high 7. He hit as many home runs at the Polo Grounds that year, 6, as he did in his entire career in Philadelphia. (Over half his career home runs were at the Polo Grounds.) Yeah, I guezzed wrong. They would have had to make a late run, as neither hit their first until relatively late in the season. Good on you, Choo.
