  2. Y'know, that's the same damn thing they told me when I complained about the toilet being backed up.
  3. Shouldn't that be Kerry Tollins? Reminds me of the time we decided that whenever Chad Bradford had a bad day it was actually the fault of his evil twin Brad Chadford Well, whatever it should be, here the lineup he's putting out there today: LAGARES - CF CONFORTO - LF CABRERA - SS BRUCE - 1B WALKER - 2B GRANDERSON - RF R RIVERA - 3B TJ RIVERA - C deGROM - P

Six losses in nine if you want to track those lost via the other team's last at bat. Three games lost in extra innings plus two other walk-offs and one game in Miami where the Marlins scored three in the bottom of the 8th so didn't need to bat in the 9th
  5. He started getting swings and misses once he abandoned the stuff in the dirt.
  6. He's gotten one guy to bite on the sinker -- a swinging strike on Rendon -- but everyone else is just laying off that pitch and he's not coming close with them.

  12. I don't think those coaches that every team seemed to have at one point who specialized in fungo-hitting high pops for infield practice could hit high pops as frequently as Reyes is so far this season.

  14. Harvey just made a bad location pitch to Harper. Other than that he's been fine except that he's headed for pitch-count prison pretty soon as he's been well over the 15/per threshold since the 1st inning. By comparison, Roark's thrown about half as many.
  15. The fact that he's at CitiField and doing the game tonight means that this (Manitoba, Canada) newspaper probably got their facts a bit wrong. [fimg=340:2sbovo1w]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C94stNUXgAETX8F.jpg[/fimg:2sbovo1w]
  16. EATON - CF DIFO - SS HARPER - RF MURPHY - 2B RENDON - 3B LIND - 1B HEISEY - LF LOBATON - C ROARK - P Trea Turner IS activated from the DL but is not in the lineup tonight. Jayson Werth is sitting out with "groin spasms". I'll let you insert your own joke there.
  17. Brandon Nimmo - CF Amed Rosario - SS Ty Kelly - somewhere Dom Smith - 1B Matt Reynolds - 2B Travis Taijeron - RF Kevin Plawecki - C Erik Goeddel - P OK, just kidding, it hasn't gotten that bad ... yet! Real lineup: CONFORTO - LF LAGARES - CF BRUCE - 1B WALKER - 2B GRANDERSON - RF REYES - SS RIVERA - 3B RIVERA -C HARVEY - P

  19. [u:2xnwu20r]KTE April 21-23[/u:2xnwu20r] We got six games out of the next nine vs these guys so we better get to know them. Friday 7:05 — Harvey vs Tanner Roark WPIX but also MLBN for those without access to the usual outlets Saturday 4:05 — deGrom vs Gio Gonzalez SNY & FOX Sports 1 Sunday 8:00 — Wheeler vs Max Scherzer ESPN, your one and only choice We pretty much know who’s going to play for the Nats because they run the same lineup out there every day. Only Trea Turner has been DL’d causing them to mix and match at SS for the last 10 games but Turner is expected to be reactivated for Friday’s game. Mets of course come into the series completely healthy except for Cespedes, Flores, d’Arnaud, Duda, Wright, Matz, and Lugo Like us, they're pretty much an unchanged squad since last season. The one major addition was Adam Eaton to play CF allowing them to move Trea Turner back to the IF replacing the departed Danny Espinosa Eaton doesn't hit for power but he runs, fields, and gets on base. As far as the rest of their offense they're tops in the NL in RS/G by a wide margin (over 6/per). I could throw up a bunch of individual stats but it’s easier to say that just about all their starters are hitting over .300 and half the lineup has OBAs over .400 [Weiters = .412; Zimmerman = .431; Eaton = .403; Harper = .515] Murph is slumming it at the moment at .344/.375/.557 leaving only Anthony Rendon to lag behind in the raking department with a HR-less .226 BA. Their pitching is actually among the worst in the league for RA/G although a good chunk of that is the small sample size this early combined with the 17-3 posting they took from the Phils. They released pitcher Mark Guthrie the next day despite having signed him to a FA contract over the winter. His Nats career ends at 2/3 inning and 10 earned runs; that's an ERA of 135.00 and a WHiP of 15.00 Their biggest weakness this season has been the bullpen and mainly their closer. After losing Mark Melancon to FA-gency and coming up empty on several replacement candidates over the winter, they handed the job to Blake Treinen who quickly racked up a convenience store ERA (7.11) and handed it back. Thursday night’s closing assignment went to Shawn Kelley who put two on but squeaked out with the save although he’s being viewed as nothing more than the place-holder for 24 y/o hard-throwing Koda Glover dubbed as “Closer of the Future” despite the fact that he has a whopping 26 IP under his belt since his ML debut last July.
  20. Can't waste an escape act like that from Edgin by not scoring against the Philly bullpen.
  21. So yesterday we had a two-swing offense. Today it's mostly come on one-swing.

  23. Eh, it's only Duda, d'Arnaud, Flores, and Cespedes going out in about an eight inning span. It's not like we've got a series with the Nationals coming up or anything. I suspect there are calls being made to Vegas as we type.
  24. More Ron Darling debut trivia (since the TV question sent me searching to BB-Ref): In his first ever ML game, Sept 6, 1983 vs Phillies at Shea, which he and the Mets lost 2-0, a) how did he give up his first (and only) run in that game? (the 2nd run was unearned against reliever Carlos Diaz) who was the winning pitcher that night for the Phils Answers (since no reasonable person would be expected to get them) a) a [u:1rzep3p0]Balk[/u:1rzep3p0]. After retiring the first nine batters he faced including 5 strikeouts, Darling walked Joe Morgan to lead-off the 4th then, after a groundout moved him to 2nd, RD balked him to 3rd then balked him home Tug McGraw with 2.1 innings of 1 hit scoreless relief. Starter Tony Ghelfi was given a 1-0 lead but couldn't finish the 5th inning. Al Holland then relieved Tug and pitched the 8th & 9th for the save. At bat, Ron struck out in his first AB though singled to left in his second.
