  1. Got out-hit 13-9, got out-walked 7-5, got out-error-ed 0-3 ... and won the fuckin' game!!!
  2. And I wish it would Rhame Z-es4Q8AJaU

  5. Let it Rhame !!!!
  6. Pitcher's slot, Severino, and Difo due up. That's as good as we could have hoped for with a one run lead, except that Severino -- essentially their 3rd string, defensive-minded catcher -- has been a PITA with the bat this series. He's only even on the roster because Weiters is DL'd and Miguel Montero is on paternity leave.
  7. Y'know, with Rosario up and Conforto/Cespedes coming up, I'm OK with the bunt there. ... AND IT WORKS!!!!
  8. The two quotes I remember most from him were the Gretzky one from above and also the times he'd announce that 'Dave Kingman was attacked by another fly ball in left field today' over the latest clip of DK losing one in the sun or just having one clank off his glove.

  10. Defense not exactly putting on a show tonight. Cabrera, Harvey, Rosario, and almost Frazier earlier. ... and now d'Arnaud.
  11. Says Kristie Ackhert (NYDN) Also Puma
  12. And that's around 4-1/2 inning's worth of pitches from Roark just to get through 3 frames. We'll be into the pen early tonight one way or another.
  13. Turns out the old dog still has a few tricks in his bag as he jumps Roark on the first pitch after three straight walks.
  14. So did the first four Nats in the game smacking the hell out of the ball.
  15. ARod has used the phrase "one of the most underrated players in the league" three times already and it's just the bottom of the 1st.

  17. 1 hit, 1 BB, 12K in 7 innings and almost certainly a 'W' (LAA up 6-0 after 8) -- how's that to cap off a week which also includes 3 HRs? As Channel 11 sportscaster Jerry Girard once said about Wayne Gretzky: 'He's just been named player of the week ... for next week'
  18. Once I saw the early score (5-2 in the 4th when I first checked) I just wrote this one off, honed in on the golf, and never checked back. Just seeing the result here for the first time. oe: And while it's probably too early to be playing scoreboard in the AL East, at the same time I was ignoring the Yanx I was also ignoring the Sawx/Rays game after briefly peeking in on it (MLBN) Boston was down 7-2 in the 7th before getting six straight 2-out hits in the 8th [Double - Single - Double - Single - Wild Pitch - Double - Single] then shut the door in Top-9 to win 8-7 That opens up a 3.5 game gap after less than two weeks: Yanx [5-5] -- Sawx [8-1]. Again, it's too early for all this but ... just sayin'. On further edit, I'd be remiss if I didn't emphasize HOLY SHIT!!!! to this: John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: The Yanks loaded the bases on 2 walks and a misplayed sac bunt in the 12th, so had bases loaded, no out and Judge and Stanton due up. Judge 1-2-5 DP, Stanton (0-7) whiffed for the 5th time in the game to end it. I mean, blowing the initial lead is bad enough, but then to have an almost guaranteed tie at worst, and a win likely, slip away in that fashion ... well, all I can say is, HOLY SHIT!!!!
  19. So how soon before the Nats start bitching about ball/strike calls tonight?
  20. - The Marlins actually led that game 1-0 and had briefly pushed their 'projected win pct' to as high as 62%. Six batters into the bottom of the 1st that same measure was down to just 14% - Miami starter Dillon Peters faced 19 hitters and retired 7 of them. In his only other start this season he got the win after hurling six shut-out innings at the Cubs. Go figure. - Philly's 1-2 hitters, Cesar Hernandez and Carlos Santana, each batted in the 1st, in the 2nd, in the 3rd, and in the 4th innings. They did not bat in the 5th (Phils went down 1-2-3) and then were both pulled from the game. Maybe they were tired. - The Phils had two Grand Slams by the 3rd inning and by the 4th had tacked on a 3R HR
  21. The umps fucked-up a call in the Yanx/O's game (in favor of guess who?) In a run-down, Stanton & Sanchez both wound up on 3rd base. Since Stanton was the one going back towards the base it was still "his" base. So when the O's catcher tagged Sanchez (standing on the base) and then Stanton (running past it) it should have been a DP. Only Stanton was ruled out, Sanchez was permitted to stay on 3rd. When Michael Kay read the rule it read like an exact description of this very play with no ambiguity at all, and then some 'rules expert' YES has on call admitted it should be a DP too. Buck (who might be a stuffy PITA at times but he knows the rule book as well as anyone) argued long and loud but couldn't get them to turn. It doesn't appear that Baltimore protested but that's not clear. Most protests fail but this one seemed tailor made for one: a clear misapplication of a rule No additional runs scored after that play but it forced the O's pitcher to pitch to one extra batter in order to get out of the inning (6th) and the Yanx have just now tied the game at 3 in bottom 8 (Gregorius HR)
  22. They seem to have taken the precip out of the DC forecast for Saturday afternoon. Showers ending around 7 AM Saturday. Cloudy & 41 at game time w/not much wind. Hardly ideal, but not as bad as earlier projections. Sunday won't be much warmer, but at least the sun will be out. Oh wait, no it won't ... it's an April night game?!!?!
  23. So every athlete who takes a stand on an issue is guilty of 'branding' and therefore doesn't deserve to be taken seriously as an athlete, or just the ones who take stances we might not agree with? If there's a Tebow-branding movement being shoved down our throats I'm missing it, particularly if there's some kind of Tebow-directed branding movement connected to playing minor league baseball. A one-off issue ad (three years ago?) and kneeling in the end zone (six or seven?) -- as if we haven't seen a few HUNDRED athletes do that before him and since -- doesn't strike me as much of a campaign. Hell, he's taking more mocking abuse for this attempt than anything. I get why not everyone likes him, and I get why people think this experiment is a waste of time. But I don't get the contempt for him wanting to try. Plus I think it would be a cool story if he did succeed at it, even if only briefly.
  24. Yeah, my first thought was whether the team (for Mr. Met) or MLB (for the design copy) would ponder go to the lawyers first. If they're smart, neither will. I know the NFL would pounce in a similar situation. Even Francesa, who could shill for the NFL as much as anyone, used to (only slightly) joke that the NFL was so protective of their copyrights that they'd have their legal eagles bust into some 3rd grade classroom with papers (and perhaps guns) drawn to serve on some kid who they heard kid was scribbling helmet logos on his notebook cover.
  25. Centerfield wrote: Amed throws out that second run by a half mile yesterday. So does just about anyone including Reyes nine times out of ten. That's not a play that one guy makes where the other doesn't. It was just a shitty throw at a time when even a mediocre one does the job. I thought that was going to turn into one of those YUGE plays that we'd regret later as a factor in us losing the game. Between that run and the one caused by Bruce's error, the Nats shouldn't have scored at all in the game and yet it was tied until the two HRs which turned out to be even YUGER.
