  1. We can't keep losing to these schmucks and expect to get anywhere.
  2. Robo Ump can't get here fast enough for me.
  3. Phil's scored their last 3 runs with ONE hard hit ball ... the double to LF in the 7th
  4. A quick look at how each division is faring in this oddest of seasons. Since each team is only playing the teams of their own division plus one other, and that the result of all intra-division games has to net out to .500 overall, we can instantly know the source of how each division got to be either over or under .500 Turns out that the East is the most balanced at this point: AL East = 4 games over .500, NL East 4 games under The Central battle sees the AL kicking the NL's butt: +13 for ALC, -13 for the NL with much of the credit there going to the Pirates: 13 games under .500 overall (11-24) including a pathetic 1-11 vs ALC teams The West is just the opposite where the NL is 13 games over and the AL 13 under. And obviously this means that overall the AL is +4 vs the NL in inter-league this season 95-91 with runs scored at a virtual dead heat 890-887 going into today's action. I don't have any kind of point to make here, I was just curious how things were going so I looked it up and figured I'd share/inflict this information with/upon you folks.
  5. A matchup of the 2015 NL CY winner (Arrieta w/the Cubs) and the 2016 AL winner (Porcello w/Boston) ... and neither one is pitching anywhere close to that level now. Porcello you all know about. Arietta, kind of a late bloomer so you may not realize that he's already 34 y/o, has gone longer than 5 innings just once in his seven starts this season and is pitching to an ERA of 6.49 That ERA jumped more than two full runs/G as a result of his last start on Sunday where he got his ass handed to him by the Braves to the tune of 7 ER / 6 Hits / 3 walks while recording just 4 outs. That the Phils almost came back to win that game after being down 10-0 in the 2nd [Final ATL 12 - PHI 10] shows you how much problem Atlanta is having with their staff. That was ex-NYM Tommy Milone's debut start for Los Bravos (7 ER in 2-1/3)
  6. So the Mets won twice vs the Yanx this year via walk-off HRs 1) A Rosario walk-off HR IN Yanqui Stadium and 2) Pete Alonso's Two-Run HR Leading Off an inning Welcome to MLB Version 2.020 Tom Seaver is rolling around in the grave he's not even in yet.
  7. Considering that these new extra-inning rules reward teams that hit well w/RiSP, we really stand no chance in extras this season.
  8. I've never been more pissed off following a 9th inning/2-out game tying HR before.
  9. Have ALL of the MFY runs is this six-game series come with two outs or just 95% of them?
  10. And the first four innings only took two hours!!!
  11. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I would imagine that the Mets will want the Brooklyn team to survive, but if they do, they'll have to find a full-season A league to play in. It would be hard to find a geographic fit. If they were to replace Columbia in the South Atlantic League, the nearest team in their league would be Hagerstown, MD. It would be a lot of travel. Brooklyn could also replace Binghamton in the Eastern League and Columbia would then survive and the Rumble Ponies would be put out to pasture. Nothing from that article is particularly new (or news), just probably a little more concrete. When earlier versions of this were floated, the tentative plans had Bingo losing its team with Brooklyn taking that slot as the AA Eastern Lg affiliate. Unlike most NY-Penn Lg or other short season sites, Brooklyn is the one that would meet that population minimums for AA. Not sure if the stadium is up to snuff or if it would need to be enlarged/upgraded. Syracuse, Columbia, and PSL are slated to continue in their current spots and leagues. At this point, only Columbia (and Bingo) isn't Wilpon owned. Not sure how the ownership status pf those would change with the sale.
  12. Considering that a) 4 runs is more than we've ever scored against Happ in, like, ever and that the Yanx have more hits w/RiSP In This Inning than we had in July and August put together, the results of this game aren't looking good.
  13. John and George both played very well in CF back in Shea ... although only briefly.
  14. Edgy MD wrote: " ... from complications from Lyme disease, dementia and COVID-19." He never really seemed right after that Lyme disease diagnosis years back. Some folks get over that one fairly easily but it can cause lingering problems for years afterward and, much like Covid, it tends to hit the older folks harder.

  16. Ryan Mountcastle? Seriously? That's the name for a character in a Mel Brooks movie. (or a porn flic) I hear more as being from an English period drama: Young Ryan Mountcastle, as the eldest son, was set to inherit both his father's land and the title of Lord Mountcastle, 9th Duke of Glouscestershire, as well as becoming the next Earl of Wellsford. His family had been working hard to arrange a marriage for Ryan with Lady Sharon, the willful daughter of Lord Charles Grey-Poupon and his late wife. Ryan, however, had his eye on the beautiful, but untitled, Mary Sally-Bowles. Their secret meetings behind the horse stables had started to generate gossip among the servants and valets of Hartford House upon-Hudson, the centuries-old estate of the Mountcastle clan, and it's only a matter of time before wind of the liaisons between the young folks gets back to the Lord and Lady of the house who strongly object to the lack of peerage in the Sally-Bowles family and would surely have to withdraw from the social season if such a pairing were to be permitted.
  17. Why is a pitch count of 69 considered prohibitive for a 29-year-old vet? -- When a 9-pitch 1st inning is followed by needing 60 just to get thru innings 2 & 3 while teetering on the edge the whole time When did Petersboro become a reliever? -- Just now
  18. There's something sinister sounding about hearing that players who were sent to "The Alternate Site"
  19. Wacha didn't exactly get smacked all over the field in that inning, but he went from 10 pitches in a 1-2-3 1st inning to 35 just to get thru the 2nd
  20. 0-2, 2-out, bases-loaded HBP of a light hitter ... not good.
  21. Franklyn Kilome is frankly killin' me.
  22. So if this is Gary's 18th anniversary then, seeing as how he's got post-college aged kids, it doesn't seem like 'Lynn' is Wifey #1 for him.
