  1. And they win the damn thing 9-7!
  2. Do the Nats dare try a double steal? Probably not.

  6. This is just stunning! I'm starting to think we've got a decent chance of winning this one.

Like the rules force the home teams to play with their backs to the wall. And (until tonight anyway) we've sucked both home and away for whatever that's worth. These four runs are already the most we've scored in any free runner inning this year. Three was our previous high. Twice we've given up five.
  8. After looking terrible all night!! And we're already 2.4 runs scored above our extra inning average.
  9. He giveth, and then he taketh away.
  10. This is not good. We need to get this to extra innings but once we get there and the Clown Car rules are in effect our run scoring chances go down!
  11. Not particularly sad to see Garcia outta there either, although with a string of RHBs coming up it's more justifiable.
  12. Yeah, I certainly wasn't sorry to see Gore leave the game.
  13. Seven Ks for Gore, one by Peterson. I'd call that an inconvenient truth.
  14. =Centerfield post_id=160989 time=1719876924 user_id=65] Mets have really just been garbage since I came back.
  15. I snuck in Bobby Thomson (Scotland) in the 10+ HR category (0.2%) Guessed that Danny Graves (South Vietnam) was at least once an All Star (he was) (0.06%!) And threw in John Olerud for Toronto A-S (4%) But I was too chicken to speculate whether Chris Bassitt won at least ten w/the Jays last season ... he did, 16 in fact.
  16. I don't see how it's even embarrassing. They made a deal for more money later instead of a year by year salary, a practice that isn't even remotely uncommon. That the deal didn't turn out to be as smart as the owners thought when they made it is an issue for accountants and since when did fans go around rooting for, or against, team pencil pushers? I can't get even slightly worked up about this.
  17. This is the 5th extra inning loss this year by [CROSSOUT]2[/CROSSOUT] Three runs or more. Fixed it for you. They've lost 0-5, 3-6, 2-7, 2-5, and now 5-10 3-8 overall in extra innings in 2024 And out-scored in extras 29 to 9 over those 11 games/16 innings. So the Mets are scoring an average of 0.56 runs/inning with the free runner advantage, which is essentially the average R/I rate Without!! the gift runner. But are giving runs at more than a 3x rate [1.81/per] And to put today's game in perspective, the Mets scored on the first swing with the Manfred Man on 2nd but in six successive ABs after that, all with a runner in scoring position, never got one in and only once got the ball out of the IF. 10th inning after Nimmo's 2B: K, IW, GO, GO 11th inning: IF PO, FO, GO (only the FO even moved a runner)
  18. Who deserves the nickname 'Uncle' more? Festa, or NYY 1st baseman Ben Rice?
  19. A caught stealing with Ottavino on the mound should count for two outs.
  20. Lose their challenge but get another if this goes to 10 anyway ... so that's likely the strategy. Still had no hope of succeeding though.
  21. How funny (and Fun!!) would it be if, after this long rain delay, this game were to end on the 1st pitch of bottom 9? Astros are headed to Toronto tonight where tomorrow is a Canada Day day game!!!!
  22. Yanx & Jays are trading blow-outs in the first three of their four game series: 9-2 Jays, 15-6 Yanx, and, today, 9-3 Jays That's 9, 12, 9, 6, and 9 runs allowed by NYY pitching over the last five games [1-4] Oh, and Juan Soto was a late scratch with a hand issue that needs further evaluation. Braves beat the Pirates 2-1 in 10 innings in a Paul Skenes/Max Fried matchup game Skenes: 6 IP, 1 R, 6 hits, 2 BB, 9 K and a near identical line for Fried: 6 IP, 1 R, 6 hits, 3 BB, but only 4 K Phils have lost 2 of 3 to the Marlins (lots of four game series this week). Only 4, 2, and 2 runs scored w/o IL'ers Harper, Realmuto, and Schwarber
  23. Among other things: no Diaz, no Smith, no Raley, and starters who can't go longer than 5
  24. 5 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks off the NYM pen We, meanwhile, have one hit and one walk off of theirs. Three good righty bats coming up against Hader [JDM, Pete, Alvarez] That might have mattered more with only a one run deficit.
