  2. Among the comments I saw: - The Star Strangled Banner - Listening to that makes me wish we had lost to the British
  3. IIRC, Barry Larkin injured himself in an ASG-related skills competition (something to do with throwing) and it never resurfaced after that.
  4. =G-Fafif post_id=162742 time=1721160813 user_id=55] =MFS62 post_id=162736 time=1721156315 user_id=60] Round 11, Pick No. 323: 2B Nick Roselli, Binghamton University Go, Bingy.
  5. #1 overall to the Guardians is Australian born 2B Travis Bazzana! Not just born there but grew up and learned the game there. Was offered a pro contract in Oz as a 16 y/o but turned it down to go the American college route instead. His gamble played out well.
  6. mlb.com's final mock has the Mets narrowed down to college OF (UNC) Vance Honeycutt or HS OF Slade Caldwell. So it'll be one of those two... unless it's someone else.
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: Pitcher for both teams is Staff Aren't the Mets just going with an ordinary Quintana start? Yes ... but I had spotty net service so didn't try to look it up, and the day before the ASB is traditionally a (partial) all hands on deck situation. So if Q is shakey early on ...
  8. Last game prior to the ASB Pitcher for both teams is Staff Stuff will happen, hopefully most of it will be good for us.
  9. It's Saturday, there's a game scheduled, and I'm on an IGT roll. But my internet suxx this morning and I have places to go so this will be brief. Christian Scott will pitch against some other guy and you'll have to figure the rest out on your own. LGM and yadda yadda.
  10. 4-1 final. In other news, Phils lost at home to Oakland.
  11. Yanx up 4-1 on the O's at Camden but, with one out bottom 9, O's OF Heston Kjerstad get drilled in the head and the benches and bullpens clear.
  12. We hit five HRs and it was still a nail-biter!!
  13. A four pitch walk ... really?!?
  14. At least the pen only has to cover two innings tonight rather than the customary three to five.
  15. And remember, replay reviews are going to be quick. Yeah right! Between replays (2), a pitching change, and a manager ejection and subsequent argument, I feel like there's been about ten pitches thrown in the last 15 minutes
  16. As fun as this has been, this game is far from pen-proof.
  17. Anyone who had Iglesies with two HRs over the Great Wall of Flushing please step up and collect your winnings.
  18. Blackmon's back, mon!
  19. One of six pitchers (really five since one is Luis Torres) to make just one appearance this season: also Eric Orze, Phil Maton, Joey Lucchesi, Julio Teheran In all 31 pitchers have appeared In a NYM uni in 2024 (92 games). 12 (11) of them haven't, and several won't, hit double digit innings. Orze: 0.0 (didn't retire a batter) Torrens: 0.1 Festa: 1.0 (gone) Maton: 1.0 Teheran: 2.2 (gone) Lucchesi: 4.1 (DFA) Adcock: 4.1 (40-man) Tyler Jay: 4.2 (40) Cole Suiser: 4.2 (40) Grant Hartwig: 6.2 (IL) Michael Tonkin: 7.0 (gone) Yohan Ramirez: 8.1 (gone)
  20. Rays 5 - Yanx 4 A very nice over the shoulder catch by the 2nd baseman ends the game with runners on 1st & 3rd. 2-7 in July 6-17 over their last 23
  21. An early release of Friday's IGT as not sure when/if I'll have free time tomorrow prior to game time. Rockies are the 3rd worst team in MLB this year, better only than the White Sox and Marlins (by just a half game) pending the end of Thursday's games. A bit better lately (5-5 in July following a 7-20 June) but awful on the road even by Rockies standards, a stunningly bad 13-33 Dead last in runs allowed by nearly a full R/G!! (5.86). And while you can say, sure, it's the ballpark, they're also 3rd worst in RS/G (4.14) Also no Kris Bryant (IL) and possibly no Charlie Blackmon (not IL'd but sitting lately). Tanner Gordon gets the start in Game One: He's big (they all are now), RH, 2nd start of his ML career (6/7 vs KCR - 5R, 8 H, 6.1 IP) 6th round pick of the Braves in 2019, traded at the deadline last July. The smoking hot Sean Manaea will oppose: 6 R (5 ER)/15 Hits over his last 5 starts/28.2 IP P.S. I'm currently the author of the top four threads in the Baseball Forum. It makes me feel just like the 1964 Beatles!!
  22. Paul Skenes pulled in Milwaukee with a no-no thru 7 innings (99 pitches). Brews immediately get two singles to start the 8th but then go K - K - BB - K (all against Colin Holderman) Pirates had on to win 1-0
  23. "Accidental Fentanyl Intoxication" is being cited as cause of death.
  24. On the plus side on Ottavino, nobody hit him: 27 pitches yet only one fair ball (three Ks and a somewhat soft single). But, man, it was a slog out there. In all the Mets threw, was it three or four?, wild pitches all with a runner on 3rd and yet not a single one of them came home!! Other stuff: - nice aggressive base running: 1) JDM going to 3rd on a single to CF 2) sending Nimmo on the hit following his bases-clearing double; w/2 outs it was the right move but I thought he'd be nailed (nice slide). 3) Pete taking 3rd on a hit which in turn set up the next run - Juan Yepez sounds like a name David Letterman would have had fun with - were behind the Nats until just recently (6/24) but now are six full game ahead.
