Their pitching, both the starters and the pen, aren't matching what they did in the first two months (they couldn't possibly) even though the return of Gerritt Cole should be a pick-me-up.
Yanx loss today means they've now lost their last three series [ATL, BAL, BOS - all two-of-three] and four of their last five [3-1 v KCR, 1-2 v LAD] Annnnnd, they've also lost Giancarlo Stanton to the IL for an estimated four weeks with a hamstring pull. I guess this means newly acquired JD Davis hops right into the (mostly) everyday DH slot.
In addition to the monumental change in the W/L record, over half of our wins since June 5th have come to us with some degree of ease. Of the 10 wins since June 6th six have come with scores of 9-1, 10-4, 5-1, 11-6, 14-2, and 11-1
Was trying for all Mets, but fell short. I belatedly realized I should have put Kevin Mitchell (or Mo Vaughn) in the Mattingly slot. .300+BA/OF = Dykstra .300+BA/3K Hits = Eddie Murray .300+BA/30+HR = Piazza 1st And Pick/OF = Nimmo 1st And Pick/3K Hits = ARod 1stRnd Pick/30+HR = Straw MVP/OF = Mays MVP/3K Hits = Ichiro MVP/30+ HR = Don Mattingly Rarity = 37
After trailing significantly just a few weeks ago, the NL quickly erased the gap and IL games are now just about even: AL leads 162-160 Which means you can no longer blame the 'pathetic' NL for the logjam as the league as a whole is essentially .500, just oddly distributed. There are currently nine clubs sitting on a win pct between .474 & .500 - four at .575 or higher - two in the .340's - but not a single one in the wide gaps from .347 to .474, or from .501 to .574 Very odd.
If you're going to erase a six run deficit you can't be letting those two-on/none-out situations to go un-cashed-in. That three straight ABs w/nothing getting out of the IF inning reflects back to the bad old days ... y'know, like last month.
I watched the top of the 1st. Then saw Noerner walk to lead off the bottom of the 1st Then woke up as PC-A was pulling into 3rd for his triple and saw that it was 5-0 Missed the whole mess.

Friday's game, along with several other recent ones, pushed the Mets RS above their RA for the first time in a long time [348 / 345] It was -6 in March (0-3 record) +13 in April (15 - 11) a Negative 42 in May (9 - 19) ... and it felt worse than that and now +38 to date in June (12 - 5) Now a 14 - 5 record since that disastrous LAD series dropped us to a season worst 11 games under .500
Orioles thumping the Yanx to the tune of 12-5 after 6. Rookie phenom Luis Gil was on the business end of most of that whoopin', giving up 7 earned on 8 hits/2 BB in just 1-1/3 innings. O's have 12 hits, 5 walks plus 3 NYY errors thrown in and they could be heading for 20 but are merely 5/18 w/RiSP and have left 10 on. And now it's 14-5
