  1. Pete has also announced that he will participate in the HR Derby Not a surprise.
  2. Hey check it out, ESPN chose to make the Yanx & Sawx the Sunday Night game!! Whoda thunk it?!? 2-0 Sox in the 8th on two solo HRs The Sawx, after a 15-10 month of June and 4-1 so far in July, are 8 games over .500 coming into tonight after just treading .500 water thru May 31 And yet Sox starter Cutter Crawford, 7 innings, 0 R, 3 H, and just 68 pitches thru 7 innings is pulled for a reliever to start the 8th. He had a 3.24 ERA (coming into tonight) thru 18 starts this year.
  3. Yup! He came in to protect the lead and didn't so that's a Blown Save. Whose runs they were doesn't enter into the equation. That he was the pitcher when the Mets took the lead makes him the winner. But there's no way to claim both a S and a W.
  4. So here's the biggest question from that game: What the fuck was Manaea thinking as he was standing next to a stationary Ke'Bryan Hayes for about five seconds and about five feet off a 1st base, yet tagging him never seemed to enter his mind?
  5. Kind of a strange choice given that the competition among hard-hittin' 1st basemen is often the toughest. Might be a dearth of them this season (I'd have to check) but Pete wouldn't have been in my first three NYM options. Nimmo, Lindor, or Severino in some order or another would be above Pete for me.
  6. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I guess he gets the win and the save Just the 'W' ... and a Blown Save
  7. =metirish post_id=161513 time=1720296178 user_id=72] Everything about this is great
  8. A decade ago the 2nd baseman doesn't even make the relay cuz McCutcheon would have already been past the bag.
  9. I think we often overdo the bullpen second guessing here (it's the low hanging fruit of fan complaints) but I'm with them here. It's looks for all the world than Mendoza pre-decided how the back half of the game was going to play out regardless of how each pitcher's outing fared. So I think he cut Butto short. That caused him to go to Garrett when he didn't need to (with near-disastrous results), and is now cutting Nunez short so as to bring in the closer. I understand wanting to get Diaz in after the long layoff but that doesn't mean the steps leading up to that needs to all be pre-determined. * cross-posted with above
  10. We're obviously going to Diaz for the 9th, but after 3 outs on 8 pitches I'd rather stick with Nunez
  11. I would have gotten tossed if I were the Bucco mgr in that situation too.
  12. Tying run at the dish with one out in the 7th but, no worries, the Pirates aren't a HR-hitting team.
  13. =ashie62 post_id=161514 time=1720296450 user_id=90] Bailey Falter Quarters
  14. Yup. He assumed the play was going to be made at 1st making it irrelevant whether he crossed the plate first or not. But once it became a tag play then the whole situation changes. There seems to be a lot of MFY non-hustling lately, eh? I wasn't watching at the time so I'm not sure how the booth handled it. They tend to be more forgiving of the home folks unless the guy is otherwise not contributing and therefore has been deemed by the ones up on high to be NOT a 'True Yanqui'. At that point he becomes target practice. I did tune in briefly to that rain-delayed game after our debacle was over but went to bed once Boston blew several chances: 1st & 2nd none out and then 2nd & 3rd with one out in the 8th. So I was pleasantly surprised to learn this morning that the Sox went on to score twice in the 9th to tie it then twice more in the 10th to win it.
  15. [Oprah]And You get a home run, and You get a home run, and You ...[/Oprah]
  16. Not that it would have changed things much, but I can't remember a single borderline call tonight going in NYM pitchers' favor where as Skenes got several. At least two of those 4 balls to Tellez just now were in/on the 'box' and c/should have been strikes.
  17. These DPs (one GiDP, one LO) are not only killing potential big innings but also prevent us from running up this dude's pitch count.
  18. The no-hitter watch is on.
  19. Skenes: 9 ML starts, 4-0, 52.1 IP, 12 ER, 44 hits, 70 K, 10 BB The #1/1 draft pick out of LSU less than one year ago, he pitched just 12 G/34 IP in the minors. Silly looking mustache.
  20. The 2024 season of the Yanx Luis Gil: - first 14 starts/80 innings: 18 earned runs allowed - most recent 3 starts/9-2/3 innings: 16 earned runs In those three games his ERA went from 2.03 to 3.41 I like to think that our game (the first of those three) started him on the road to destruction.
  21. Reds wrapped up the 3-game sweep of the Yanx on Thursday with an 8-4 win following two one-run games. Yanx are 5-13 over the last three weeks. The NL has now completely erased their early deficit in IL games and actually leads the 'series' 188-187 Braves v Phillies this weekend so, if we can manage to take care of business against Pitt's top pitchers, we'll at least gain ground on someone.
  22. Do keep in mind as we continue to blame the bullpen for virtually each and every loss, NYM bats over the last 13 innings managed to amass a grand total of one single (3rd inning today) and two BBs (8th inning Wed, 2nd inning today). In the other ten innings they were retired 1-2-3. [innings 6 thru 9 Wed night and all 9 today]
  23. - C. Scott was facing the last batter he was going to face ... and in doing so gave up a 3R HR - Diekman needed to get one more out to get out of the inning ... and it took him four batters to do so. - And then Adcock, the only reliever to not shit the bed in the last game where they blew a big lead, made the Nats lead just a little bit bigger. Oh yeah, and our bats got no runs on no hits (one BB) over the last four innings ... so save little anti-Schaefer for them too.
  24. Well at least Diaz is having a good week in relief ... that of course would be baby brother Alexis Diaz of Cincy. Two nights, two innings, two one-run saves vs the Yanx on a total of six batters faced (one BB, one GiDP). Tues: 5-4 Reds Wed: 3-2 Reds Tonight he got Juan Soto to pop out to end the game. Braves beat Giants.
  25. Can we force a fourth straight extra inning game?
