  1. The 2R HR is nice and all, but two runs after six of the first ten batters reach base should be considered the bare minimum. Three singles + two walks + one HR + two SBs in a ten AB stretch should bring more than a two-spot.
  2. We gotta quit getting runners on base. It kills our offense!
  3. There's a pitcher in the Braves system, a 19 y/o Dominican pitching in the Dominican Summer league. In 2-2/3 innings so far this season Francisco Vicioso has allowed 7 ER on 7 hits thanks largely to 17 Walks and 18 Wild Pitches!! The sad part is that that represents an improvement on last year's record when he was charged with 14 runs (13 earned) on 11 BBs and 17 Wild Pitches!! while recording just one out. Put 'em together and that's 18 walks and 35 wild pitches in 3 innings. I'm no scout but I think he needs to work on his control.
  4. The T J apparently stands for Franklin Todd as that's his given name. He's a USC Gamecock*. That's all I got. * I believe it was former poster Jersey Shore who was a Gamecock as he once related a chant to denigrate the rival Clemson Tigers: 'Those Tigers pussies can't handle our Cocks'
  5. How they went from the worst team on the planet to the best hitting team in MLB with the flip of a calendar page was so baffling and unexpected that they're reverting back to May form with the bats maybe shouldn't be surprising. Also doesn't help that the two current worst hitters on the team are busy occupying the 3rd & 4th slots in the lineup. Alvarez has three post-return HRs, they all came within a week's span in mid-June. Hasn't hit one since.
  6. Other than the two McNeil HRs, the Mets have scored runs on a Sac Fly, a ground-out, another Sac Fly, and a single across these three post-ASB games. 2/22 w/RiSP (one of those being the 2nd JMcN HR) so 1/21 otherwise and that one only occurred due to a Marlins error setting up the situation.
  7. StL/ATL, who got rained out last night, split the DH today so the Mets pick up a half game on both. Philly lost its second straight to Pitt. This after losing two of three to Oakland leading up to the ASG. Yanx got toasted by the Rays on Saturday so those two are 1 - 1 for the weekend. Nats have taken two straight from Cincy
  8. Ball 2 to Chisholm was a better pitch than strike 2 ... so the two pitches kind of evened things out. I would have been hot too if I were Chisholm.
  9. 8 - 9 - 1 in the Marlins lineup for Diaz with ZERO margin for error.
  10. If the Marlins aren't referring to their relievers JT Chargois and Calvin Faucher as 'The French Connection' then they're missing a golden opportunity.
  11. =kcmets post_id=163192 time=1721514209 user_id=53] I've asked this before but does Gary's audio always seem to be like a smidgeon earlier than the video for anyone? It's like the norm here. He's half a word into a play result before it happens.
  12. That inning we actually got a ball all the way to short RF with a runner on. That represents progress I guess. They then reverted to form by going weak grounder, K to prevent anything resembling a run.
  13. Step One: Get a runner on early in the inning Step Two: Make sure the ball never leaves the IF for the remainder of the frame IIRC, the Alvarez deep drive to CF w/2 outs was the only exception today.
  14. Lowest OPS of his career ... by a lot: 770, previous low in a full season was 821 last year. Career avg 2019-2023 = 870 Overall his BA is 14 points below his career [.238 vs .251] and his OBA down 22 pts [.320 vs .342] But the slugging is where things are really taking a hit: .450 SlgA vs his career .528 19 HRs (12 of them in Apr & May) on pace for 32. Previous low in a full season is 37 (2021) Now 30+ bombs still makes him a slugger -- Isolated Power = .190 vs the MLB norm of .154 -- just not an elite one and not what he had been prior to this year: 277
  15. As if the four day ASB isn't bad enough, both the Brewers and Twins had last night off too. They begin their second half with a two game series vs each other today and tomorrow.
  16. Two HRs plus two IF hits. That means four hits actually found some OF grass (3 1Bs, 1 2B) and on one of those we got thrown out trying to stretch. That's a nice formula for turning 8 hits (incl. 2 HRs) plus 7 BBs and a Sac Fly into just 4 runs.
  17. Considering that his average first half exit velocity seemed to be somewhere around 22 mph, the power display last night was a nice surprise. I didn't think he got the first one but it just kept carrying. The second was more obvious.
  18. What was that, our fifth IF pop-up/flare of the game or was it the sixth?
  19. Marlins now have four non-HR hits that have knocked in a run. That's four more than the Mets have.
  20. Now three hits with runners on: McNeil's 2nd HR and TWO IF singles w/a runner on 1st only. At some point someone is going to have to find some OF grass.
  21. Who is this guy and what did he do with that scrub Jeff McNeal? And it was an actual hit with a runner(s) on. It came on the team's 13th baserunner. The only previous one was Nimmo's dribbler towards 3rd w/Lindor on 1st.
  22. Cubs got things started by losing 5-2 to the (4th in WC) DBacks this afternoon. Other stuff of note: Phils are starting the second half in Pittsburgh Reds @ Nats Padres @ Cleveland StL @ Atlanta SFG @ Colorado Yanx host Tampa And an early AL West showdown in Seattle as the M's host the 1-game out Astros
  23. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=162953 time=1721351297 user_id=68] I'm not trying to sound obnoxious here.
