They have a day off today and they hope to have something figured out by tomorrow when the players get to the park. Mark Kelly? Josh Shapiro?
  2. Now listen carefully Edwin: if you don't allow a runner here then the tying run can't come to the plate.

  4. The last NYM batter to get the ball out of the infield prior to Alvarez ... was Alvarez.
  5. Edgy MD wrote: Mets have had 10 groundouts to three flyouts. And 8 hits, all singles, only three since the second inning. One walk.
  6. Rox catcher is giving targets two feet out of the strike zone ... and I don't blame him.
  7. Give us your tired, your weak, your relievers with 6+ ERAs, we will give them solace and redemption.
  8. The Rox have advanced more leadoff base runners with no ABs completed than we did in our last six ABs

  10. Leadoff single: ground out - ground out - K OK these were harder than most ... but sooner or later you need to get the ball out of the infield more than two or three times a game.
  11. 'bout time we had a proper TWiB thread for the ongoing week. - Padres scored three in the top of the 10th in Pittsburgh and lead 9 - 6 But the Pirates have loaded the bases with no one out ... so don't count them chickens yet
  12. Lead-off hit - ground out - ground out - ground out I've seen this movie before. And I don't like how it ends.
  13. Bartolo's career Wins by team: CLE - 75 LAA - 46 NYM - 44 OAK - 28 CHW - 18 MON - 10 NYY - 8 TEX - 7 MIN - 5 BOS - 4 ATL - 2
  14. We've been making far too many meh-ish pitchers, replacement pitchers, and middle relievers look very good for about a week now.
  15. Well, there was a replacement pitcher last night and we didn't exactly take him to task. Don't like that steal attempt w/2 outs, a runner on 3rd and Nimmo up, even a cold Nimmo.
  16. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=165538 time=1723075575 user_id=68] So I only have to scan through my 1,000 channels for just the 8:40 time slot to figure out what channel the game's on.
  17. Annnnnnnd their winning streak ends at one as an early 2-0 CHW lead lasts until the A's notch a three run 7th
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Credit that win to the Rockies' infield. And the Mets lack of crisp defense: - throwing error by Bader - several 'coulda' plays by Vientos not made plus one actual (if flukey) error - Taylor momentarily fumbling the ball in the RF corner - the runner is out at home (or stays at 3rd) if he doesn't - then, even after Taylor's bobble, that was a really poor relay throw from Iglesies. He rushed it when he didn't need to and two-hopped a throw from short RF BOTH of those last two needed to happen for the Rox to score that run.
  19. But not while he was still playing.
  20. The result was never in doubt.
  21. Wasn't Viktor Vodnik a villain in one of the Bond films?
  22. If the Mets win this challenge it will give an opportunity for someone else to hit into a GiDP
  23. Leadoff single = a decrease in run potential
