  1. Maine - 2.5 Schoeneweis - 0.75 Wise - 0.25 Reyes - 0.25 Chavez - 0.25
  2. The always exciting 'no balls out of the infield' attempt at a comeback.
  3. Mets challenging Seattle for worst fielding display of the day. The Ms just turned several cheesy Yanx "hits" into a 3-run 8th and a blown lead are now down to their last out in an attempt to not get swept.
  4. The best part so far about the ASG is the brewing fight over some company (insurance I think) and their attempt to sponsor a deal during the HR derby where if Papi "points" to your section and hits a HR then some designated fans wins something. The Yanx, however, are objecting because it's too imitative of Ruth's "called shot" which I guess makes that kind of thing exclusive property of the Yanquis. I suspect the fact that it's a Red Sock factors in too. The fact that Ruth's so-call called shot was: a) probably not called at all and occured at Wrigley Field doesn't seem to matter much to them.

  6. Keith just called Carter "unconscious" Def #1: without awareness, sensation, or cognition
  7. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: My problem with McCarver was that after he taught us all he knew, and it was a lot, we didn't need him to keep teaching us. Part of the problem I think is that announcers feel that when they're speaking to a different audience during network games - one that's both less hardcore and less familiar with the team - they need to alter their focus a bit and drive home those points that their home fans have heard a thousand times already. I wonder if McCarver had stayed w/the Mets a while longer if he would have grated on nerves as much as he did with some Met fans.
  8. Vargas - 4.0 Evans - 2.1 Beltran - 2.0 Wright - 0.7 Delgado - 0.5 Castro - 0.7
  9. Valadius wrote: Where the hell did this Nick Evans come from? Most recently, Binghamton. If you want to go back further than that, he was a 4 round pick (134th overall) in the 2004 draft out of a high school in Arizona.
  10. 9 in a row for Vargas since a leadoff single in the 5th
  11. Nice strong inning by Vargas there getting the middle of the order 1-2-3. I even thought about PH-ing for him the previous inning when he was leading off, but with the pen hving to go all those innings (7?) last night it's best to see how far he can go.
  12. I'd really like to see em tack on a few runs here.
  13. A guy with a name like John Odom only reaches the majors once in a blue moon anyway.
  14. Seth Smith robs Tatis of an extra base hit on a nice running catch in deep RF right in front of a screened-off area where a lady is sitting immersed in some conversation totally oblivious to the play coming right at her.
  15. 2 pitches seen, 2 doubles
  16. DocTee wrote: I bet the papers Horowitz was holding pertained to Gary Carter. Employment forms or restraining order?
  17. Wright says: 'Fuck that humidor shit' I can't believe that carried out.
  18. Considering that it's Vargas and Coors field you never know how valuable that 5-spot could be. In fact, let's we could use 5 more in the 2nd
  19. ="metirish"]FOX show a shot of Minaya and Bernazard in a suite with Horowitz , looked like an animated conversation. JH: "Archuletta! You voted for Archuletta?!? OM: "Hell yeah, I hated that Cook kid and his phony hard-rock emo shit" JH: "I would do Syesha in a New York mintue though" OM: "Jay got Jungle Fever ... Jay got Jungle Fever"
  20. Call me crazy but I knida like this start. No word yet on whether Beltran's bases-clearing 2B will quell Joe Badabingo's efforts to dump him immediately in favor of a single-A prospect.
  21. AG/DC wrote: Crazy zero-experience idea number two: Craig Biggio. I just read where Biggio started some youth coaching job down in Houston. Forget the exact details. Not sure if he's ever mentioned interest in big league coaching/managing. Also treating a ML managing job as an entry level position - particularly one with a major payroll and "Win Now!!!' attitude - is probably not a good idea.
  22. Reyes - SS Castillo - 2B Wright - 3B Beltran - CF Tatis - RF Delgado - 1B Castro - C Evans - LF Vargas - P Posednik - CF Herrera - 2B Holliday - LF Helton - 1B Stewart - 3B Smith - RF Ianetta - C Quintanilla - SS Francis - P Couple of new guys/injuries for the Rox also. Clint Barmes, starting at SS recently due to Tulowitski's injury, is now DL'd (hurt on Reyes's slide yesterday), as is OFer Brad Hawpe. Call-ups include Ian Stewart who has been their top corner IF propsect for the last few years, and OFer Seth Smith who's most known for backing up Eli Manning at Ole Miss. That means the Rox are starting backup QBs to both Eli (Smith) and Peyton (Helton) Manning.
  23. I suppose one could make the argument that if it's going to happen anyway he's just making sure his name is in the hopper for potential replacements ... but it does give the appearence of jumping on his grave before it's even completely dug.
  24. Perez - 1.0 Schoeneweis - 1.6 Sanchez - 0.5 Delgado - 2.0 Tatis - 1.8 Chavez - 0.6 Reyes - 0.1
  25. "When I saw that on ESPN today ... I got on the phone and I called Jay Horwitz and I asked Jay, 'Should I try to call Mr. Wilpon?' If there is this going on I just want them to know of my availability. I'm only a phone call away, because my contract allows me to leave the ballclub. I could be in New York tomorrow ... " Wow! Just wow.
