  1. Not sure I agree with the 'Good Send' logic. Think of it this way: you want Pete leading off the inning with the bases empty or hitting w/2nd & 3rd against either a tiring pitcher or getting into their tiring pen? The play at the plate also wasn't as close as they were making it out to be.
  2. =kcmets post_id=193574 time=1748105785 user_id=53] Yeah, uh, put some clothes on and start an IGT...
  3. I'm ready for this. I'm wearing nothing but a thong and have tons of baby oi ... Oh wait, you said 'Fans Only' ... sorry, I had it backwards.
  4. I didn't see the play, but Howie had it right from the beginning. A runner can tag the moment the ball hits a glove, not necessarily when it's caught, so Conforto took advantage of the extra second, as did Ohtani, to get a good jump. Otherwise an OF could bop the ball up in the air while moving towards the IF and the runner would have to hold until he actually gloved it. Howie also seemed to think that Lindor had a possible tag play on Ohtani headed for 2nd but seemed to assume that Conforto was going to be called out for leaving early upon appeal and didn't really pursue it. Sounded more like speculation than fact. Then, just after all of that, the booth talked about how it had restarted to rain but said how it was just going to be spotty rain off and on all night but it should be enough to stop the game. Seconds later they said, "it's pouring". And those were the last words I've heard.
  5. So Luisangel's big brother has returned to that team down south after missing almost exactly a full calendar year after tearing up his knee (for a second time). Will his return make a difference for the Braves? First pitch he sees in nearly a year = HR Braves are hosting the slumping Padres who are on a six game losing streak [0-3 vs SEA then 0-3 @ TOR]
  6. Dodgers have their own problems and are just 1.0 game ahead of the Mets even at the end of the Mets worst one/two weeks of the season Dodgers are 10-9 in May and earlier this week got swept by the crosstown (if you can call a two hour drive 'cross-town') Angels. Mets just had their season's first three-game losing streak while the Dodgers have had two 3-game L streaks plus one 4-gamer. Our hitting sucks right now but their pitching is a mess and there are only so many times you can 'bullpen' your way through games. I was thinking about signing up for a 'trial run' of APPLE+ TV (and then canceling tomorrow) but when I opened their app it remembered me from when I pulled the same thing last year so it won't let me do it again. I was hoping the statute of limitations had run out, but apparently not. So it's a radio night for me.
  7. Cool. If you want some exercise walk some of the hills in Pittsburgh. Their steepness is legendary.
  8. Braves @ Nats rained out tonight Phils leading Colorado 7-3 in the 6th, but I believe the Rockies lost two of three to the Bad News Bears last week so no biggie (saying that with trepidation before we go to Denver next week) deGrom threw 7 innings of 2 R, 3 H, 9 K ball in the Bronx so of course the Rangers only scored 3 and then the TEX pen gave up one run in the 7th, the 8th, and the 9th Yanx win 4 - 3 despite being out-hit 10 - 5
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Why didn't Lindor come home on the alleged wild pitch? The booth didn't mention it and the broadcast didn't go with any shots of where he was. The booth actually did mention how far he was coming down the line but, yes, then never followed up on it when the next pitch got away. I suspect he was heading back towards 3rd on the pitch so would have had to reverse his direction and decided against it, but that's speculative.
  10. Is that HBP not reviewable? There's an argument for saying 'Don't challenge' and let Pete swing but with 2 strikes I challenge it.
  11. How many times this season have we said 'here's your chance to shine' on a Soto AB? Answer: Lots, and he hasn't come through in any of them.
  12. Acuna can't be tagging there. He's gotta be almost all the way to 2nd base because even if it is caught there's no way he's getting doubled off from way out there in the LF corner..
  13. Sacks drunk / no one out aka: we're doomed!
  14. btw, (not so) Happy 30th birthday to Jose today. As Ronnie has said, your 29th birthday in baseball is the last one you celebrate. And now Alvarado is 30 and he just tossed away a half-season that he won't get back.
  15. Soto and Alonso, Top 6th: Neither one swung at a strike, neither one passed on a ball
  16. Gary: Tomorrow is an off day for the Mets Me: Every day this week has been an off day for the Mets
  17. But then a shoulda-been-out IF 1B, a coulda-been-out IF 1B, and a HBP all to the bottom of the order guys and he doesn't even last the inning.
  18. 9 Ks in the first 14 batters. Megilla's dealing! Mr. Peebles must be so proud.
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: 0h-fer-five w/RiSP ... just in the first eight batters!!! And not even a single ball out of the IF in those five ABs: PO, K, K, PO, GO Fortunately Baty put an end to the run.
  20. I agree with the send even though it didn't work. The way things are going, if you wait around for a clutch hit you might be waiting until mid-June.
  21. Well, if nothing else, they've figured out how to get to 2nd on balls off the Monster. Now they need to figure out how to get one across the plate. 0h-fer-five w/RiSP ... just in the first eight batters!!!
  22. Bregman's got a bigger beef on that strike three call than Buehler did on last night's non-strike call.
  23. Good news: Lindor gets on to start the game Bad news: He hardly ever scores when this happens* * Six 1st inning runs scored this season after reaching base 18 times including 9 singles & 4 doubles plus one walk But four of those runs scored he had to drive in himself w/a HR. So in those other 14 times on base he's been driven in twice. (now 19 times on, four self-driven in, 15 other times on/13 times stranded)
