And having the the backup catcher and pitcher up just made me more nervous, not less. Spoken like a life-long Mets fan! ;-) That fear wasn't born from watching the Mets for too long, it was from watching THEM too often! And from seeing shit like that too often. Which results in shit like THAT too often!

  7. If he gets back to how he was just a year or two ago he'd be worth that deal, but that's looking increasingly doubtful.
  8. From MLB.com: The source said Chicago sent infielder Brent Lillibridge and RHP Zach Stewart, who had recently been sent to Triple-A Charlotte, to Boston in return for Youkilis and cash. Lillibridge is/was a SS prospect who came up with the Pirates then was dealt to the Braves before going on to Chicago. Has never really hit. Don't know anything about this Stewart guy [25 y/o, former 3rd round pick by Cincy, now headed for his 4th org] 'Cash' is obviously to off-set some chunk of Youk's $12.5 or so contract. The ChiSox will now have an option for him next year or he becomes a FA
  9. Mets Willets Point wrote: This goes on a list with the June 4th game against the Cardinals and the June 5th game against the Nationals as "Totally winable games the Mets blew in June." Shit, three of the four games we've lost against these schlubs fall into the "totally winable" category. With the exception of the Santana game, they had early leads in each, still held those leads in the 6th, 7th, or 8th inning, and then later had the tying or go-ahead/winnings run(s) on in the 9th.
  10. The last seven Met outs have been via Ks
  11. What's that tonight -- like 48 NYM Ks tonight?
  12. It's about time someone reminds Soriano that he sucks.

  14. We need singles to get back into things -- and get strike-outs They need singles to get back into things -- and get homers
  15. Ashie62 wrote: Did the MFY's toss fairy dust in our eyes? No, they tossed a bunch of middle-aged shitty middle-relievers at us who suddenly turn into sub-3.00 ERA & sub-1.1 WHiP guys right after the Yanx pick them off the garbage heap. Now we're going to have to get to Robertson & Soriano. Or we can just give up 7 more HRs this inning and take all the suspense out of things.

  17. Every run in this series so far and 21 of the 23 runs we've given up to these schmucks this year have been via HRs It's like dealing with idiot savants who can only do one thing but do it really well.
  18. Can only go to that well so many times Girardi. We play real baseball in this league.
  19. Niese - 3.1 Parnell - 0.25 Francisco - 0.25 Turner - 1.9 Davis - 2.5 Wright - 1.0 Cedeno - 0.4 Torres - 0.3 Quintanilla - 0.3
  20. bmfc1 wrote: Good win. Solid performance by Niese. Terry pulled the right strings. Now everybody--get to bed, rest up... another big game tomorrow night. - Yes, except that we had a chance to run their asses out of the stadium, Pettitte into retirement, and their bullpen into tatters, but instead scored just one run after the 1st inning. - Yes it was - Except for the part about not returning with Parnell for the 8th. I'd still like an explanation on that one. - Tough to shut it down after that ending, even given the late finish. Need a good bike ride later this morning and then an afternoon nap so I'll be ready.
