  1. I'd feel even better about this game if Walker was able to get through 6 and not 5 but the up-downs are determinative and that's that.
  2. What about Mason Williams? Not the "Classical Gas" composer but the current Syracuse CF? He's 29 so it's not like he's a top prospect but he's hitting (albeit at the AAA level) which separates him from Maybin and Lee.
  3. Perhaps a day-night DH on Sunday (Sunday's game is already at night). ATL returns in a few weeks: June 21, 22 and 23 and again from July 26 to 29.
  4. =bmfc1 post_id=65192 time=1621710684 user_id=73] Former Mets on the Mariners' 40-man roster: Justin Dunn Chris Flexen Rafael Montero Paul Sewald Daniel Zamora Eric Campbell Sam Haggerty Jarred Kelenic
  5. Outstanding! 2-0 with McKinney.
  6. Did I miss something amiss with May?
  7. A win and it took under 2 hours!
  8. If Maybin's not going to have any value at the plate, he needs to have some value in the field--he should have caught that one.
  9. Dom is still "banged up", at least for Game 1. That's due to CB Bucknor's failure to call Nido's HR a HR resulting in Dom's awkward slide at home. FU CB.
  10. Thor will not throw for another six weeks (from Amazin' Avenue): [bLOCKQUOTE]According to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, the starting pitcher has been shut down for at least six weeks after his right elbow was found to have some inflammation. With that break and the time it would take for him to complete another rehab assignment, it is now clear that we will not see Syndergaard pitching in the majors until August at the earliest.[/bLOCKQUOTE] He is a FA after this season so it is possible that he has thrown his last pitch as a Met... or, to be positive, that he'll be a September and post-season asset.
  11. Braves OF Marcell Ozuna is expected to miss 5-6 weeks after dislocating two fingers on his left hand.
  12. If you're watching the Mets this week get out your TV Guide (3 games without GKR): Today--MLBN (out-of-NY only) Friday--MLBN (out-of NY only) Matt Vasgersian, Tom Verducci & Ken Rosenthal ("V" is for vomiting up a lot of nothing) Saturday--FOX (everyone) Adam Amin, TBA & Ken Rosenthal Sunday--ESPN (everyone) Matt Vasgersian, Alex Rodriguez & Buster Olney Monday--MLBN (out-of NY only) Wednesday--YouTube (everyone, I think)
  13. Let's hope that Stro dominates and can get through 5 or 6 up/downs to preserve the bullpen for Game 2.
  14. Keeping score is a beautiful thing and it's something pass along to your children. One aspect that you can't replicate with a scorekeeping app is that you can do it in a way that makes sense to you. There's no "wrong answer". If you want to write "S" for single, fine. If you want to make one dash, fine.
  15. [bLOCKQUOTE]"I think he tripped with the catcher," Rojas said. "Initially the homer wasn't called a homer. The play was live and he was sent home. He landed on his knee. So he's got a contusion there.[/bLOCKQUOTE] So Dom was injured because CB Bucknor is bad at his job.
  16. Maybe Dom will feel better tomorrow... or not, the way things are going. At least they can add someone else to the roster, if anyone is left.
  17. The MFYs postponed tonight's game b/c of the threat of rain. We'll see if the Mets do the same.
  18. "games are won and loss on a subjective spotty judgment by an umpire, and that's NOT sporting." No, it's not and I don't like when Keith says that it's always been part of the game.
  19. "If you get two challenges then you get two. Not two plus begging the umps for more because it's past the 7th inning and you spent both of yours on ticky-tack calls back in the 1st but this time you really, really think you're right." (MATTINGLY!) How about only 2 for the 1st through 6th innings (in a 9-inning game) and then the remaining innings are up to the umps/replay umps? "Every rule in the rule book must be followed, just the same. Umps don't get to decide which rules are enforced and which are ignored, because if they did, enforcement would be an arbitrary farce and the rules and player expectations would change from game to game." Spoken like a lawyer because it frustrates me when you hear "he got off on a technicality". The law is the law. Change the law. Interesting counter-points. I hope that Manfred is thinking about it today, too.
  20. Former Brewer, MFY and, Blue Jay. Reunited with FOUR 2018 Blue Jays: Kevin Pillar, SRF, Aaron Loup, and Brandon Drury (who is a current Met). He also was on the MFYs with Drury. On the 2019 Blue Jays with Yennsy Diaz (also a current Met, it's hard to keep up). 21. Replay is to show dopes like CB Bucknor that the ball was over the fence and not to call Jake out for leaving the bag for .2 of a second due to physics. Once you're on the bag the play is over but now runners hold the tag hoping for a temporary, infinitesimal, gap between body and base. Yes, they were out by the current rules but fix the damn rules. If MLB is testing rules to encourage steals then do away with this nonsense which discourages steals and slows down an already slow game. In the NFL, once you've "broken the plane" of the endzone you can hand the ball to the opponent and it's still a touchdown. In MLB, even if you're safe by "a mile" until the umpire calls time the other team can hold the ball on you hoping that you'll fall off the base like it's Twister. The other half of FAFIF agrees: http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2021/05/26/mas-tomas/http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2021/05/26/mas-tomas/
  22. MLB is tinkering with the rules in A-ball to encourage stealing but sure, let's penalize a player for accidentally, because of physics, leaving the bag for a fraction of a second even though he was clearly safe. Those two calls tell you not to steal, not to take an extra base, which makes baseball even duller than it can be.
  23. PLEASE STOP ALREADY!
