  1. I agree. Unless several RPs are not available then why was this done today at the expense of another bench option rather than tomorrow? They could even have waited until Game 2 tomorrow if Eickhoff is the SP for that game.
  2. Another look at Bucknor's strike 3 call on Pillar:
  3. The Syracuse Mets lineup is relevant:
  4. It's Father's Day, Steve Cohen is the building (Gary Cohen is not) as the Mets go for a split against Washington. METS: 1. Jose Peraza ® 3B 2. Francisco Lindor (S) SS 3. James McCann ® C 4. Pete Alonso ® 1B 5. Kevin Pillar ® RF 6. Brandon Drury ® LF 7. Albert Almora Jr. ® CF 8. Luis Guillorme (L) 2B 9. Taijuan Walker ® P Nationals: 1. Kyle Schwarber (L) LF 2. Trea Turner ® SS 3. Juan Soto (L) RF 4. Josh Bell (S) 1B 5. Yan Gomes ® C 6. Josh Harrison ® 2B 7. Starlin Castro ® 3B 8. Victor Robles ® CF 9. Patrick Corbin (L) P
  5. I hope that Mason Williams gets through waivers.
  6. [bLOCKQUOTE]“I just got beat by one guy,” Ross added, and that felt like a pretty good summary. [/bLOCKQUOTE] https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/06/19/nationals-mets-doubleheader-joe-ross-jon-lester-francisco-lindor/https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/06/19/nationals-mets-doubleheader-joe-ross-jon-lester-francisco-lindor/ In other words, he feels that he pitched great to all but one player. That's not how it works, dipshit but you do you.
  7. Pete said that the offensive slump is "just a little blip". I'm not worried about the others but I'm worried about Pete.
  8. If the Mets knew that Lucchesi was hurt at 1 PM and not 4 PM then why didn't they activate Almora for the first game so they would have an extra bat? It didn't matter but it could have.
  9. So a bad call is OK because he made one of ten calls wrong in the entirety of the game therefore it's wrong to look at that one call? The winning run was scored by a player that reached based because of that bad call. That's the issue. Regardless of what happened before or after, that particular call put Soto on base and he scored the only run of the game. Period. If someone wants to play "both sides" or "whataboutism", fine, you can do that but what happened on that call was a fact.
  10. Soto is getting too much respect and regard from these lazy, stupid, umpires. They act like he has the strike zone judgment of Rod Carew.
  11. They should remember Kelly Johnson given where today's game is being played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHMo3478ZXwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHMo3478ZXw
  12. Edgy MD wrote: No, it doesn't. But the way of awarding "wins" is based on a bunch of arbitrary rules to begin with. True, especially because, if the Mets hold on, the "win" will go to someone other than the pitcher who got 14 out of the 21 outs.
  13. In a 9-inning game, you need to pitch 5 full innings to qualify for a "win" so that the SP will have pitched more than half the game. In a 7-inning game, the same rule applies so Peterson will not get a win even though he pitched 4 2/3 innings out of 7. This doesn't make sense.

  15. We always note when the Mets are on the "short end" when the schedule has the Mets playing on Sunday Night Baseball and then playing out of town the next day. The schedule works on the Mets side tomorrow as ATL now has a split doubleheader (with STL) at 2 and 7 before playing a doubleheader on Monday in Queens starting at 4:10. Awwww.https://twitter.com/danbau76/status/1406317972524834817
  16. Before the game, the pathetic WSH Twitter account "dragged" Lindor: A HR and 3 RBI later, Mets Twitter account responded:
  17. The pivotal AB of the game featured 2 bad calls from an umpire that made 1 bad call out of every time. Great job MLB!
  18. =Fman99 post_id=68449 time=1624071930 user_id=86]That was sucky.
  19. METS: 1. Jonathan Villar (S) 3B 2. Francisco Lindor (S) SS 3. Dominic Smith (L) LF 4. Pete Alonso ® 1B 5. Billy McKinney (L) RF 6. Luis Guillorme (L) 2B 7. Tomas Nido ® C 8. Mason Williams (L) CF 9. Joey Lucchesi (L) P Nationals: 1. Kyle Schwarber (L) LF 2. Trea Turner ® SS 3. Juan Soto (L) RF 4. Ryan Zimmerman ® 1B 5. Yan Gomes ® C 6. Josh Harrison ® 2B 7. Jordy Mercer ® 3B 8. Victor Robles ® CF 9. Erick Fedde ® P 81 degrees, no rain tonight, and yours truly in the ballpark.
  20. And yet, the tickets are the same as for a 9-inning game. WSH has been making their doubleheaders day/night to get two gates.
  21. How about having one less reliever so decent players like Williams and Drury can stick around? Williams seems to be good, with some pop, speed, a good glove, and I'm not sure if Almora is that much better, although Almora is a righty bat which they need. Drury has 2 PH HRs and plays IF and OF so he'd be a nice "piece". The last relievers in the bullpen are interchangeable so I don't mind if they have to go through waivers. The Mets would lose Drury and Williams if they have to go through waivers.
  22. As a Jets fan, I know that Darnold is not good at making decisions.
  23. =bmfc1 post_id=67435 time=1623289896 user_id=73] Projecting Jake's starts until the ASG (going 1, 2, 3, 4, now): 6/11, SD--home 6/16, CHC--home 6/21, ATL--home (WSH misses him as will those of us in the DC area) 6/26, PHI--home (assuming that they keep him on a 5-day plan despite the 6/24 off-day) 7/1, ATL--away (damn, WSH misses him again) 7/6, MIL--home (he misses the NYY series) 7/11, PIT--home (the Sunday before the ASG, jeopardizing his ASG start). If they give him an extra day of rest with the 6/24 off-day: 6/27, PHI--home 7/2, NYY--away (isn't it better for Jake to pitch against ATL than NYY?) 7/7, MIL--home and then he misses the PIT series and is well rested for the ASG but loses a start.
