I check the standings often because I can't believe that this team with the way they've played is in first place and by that much. They've made it this far with so many good hitters not being good which makes me optimistic as I expect much more from the hitters in the 2d half. I'm also optimistic because I expect the FO to get another starter and improve the bullpen. And the Mets still have Jake.

The Mets drafted HS players in Rounds 2 and 3 so perhaps that's how they plan on recouping the over-slot $ they paid to Rocker.

If the Mets hadn't lost the last meaningless game of last season to WSH then WSH would have picked 10th and Rocker would be with them.

The first-place Mets split a four-game series at home against one of the worst teams in baseball. In contrast, WSH swept PIT in DC a few weeks ago and they're under .500. Zack Scott has work to do.

I stand by a previous comment: in Game 7 of the WS Luis will be managing as if there is a Game 8.

I guess May and Lugo are fragile because they can't pitch two days in a row with the next 4 days off. It wouldn't have mattered if the Mets hadn't started their Break at 1:30 today.

I'm not thrilled to see either Castro today. May and Lugo can't pitch a 2d day in a row with 4 days off ahead? Instead, he let Castro pitch a 2d inning when it's almost a miracle that he pitched one scoreless inning.

Asked and answered: I know that it likely doesn't matter but Megill isn't going to start for a while (July 20th) so why not send him down (on paper) and keep Geoff Hartlieb (today's 27th player) for tomorrow's bullpen game? I'll answer my question: because July 20th is the 10th day so if he went on the IL as of tomorrow he couldn't pitch until the 21st.
