    Luis left Hill in too long. Once he walked the leadoff hitter he was done but that cheap hit was followed by the solid hit and now the Mets are losing again. Luis has no feel for pitching changes. The Mets are playing a AAA-level team (plus a superstar) and have given up 7 runs in 4+ innings.

    So within the same game, Dom got thrown out on the bases and misplayed a flyball. Good thing he's crushing the ball. And now McNeil boots an easy play. Awful D on a team with awful O.

    Ed Coleman subbing for Howie is like Jared Eickhoff starting instead of Jake.

    I shut off the game early, which I never do, to watch an episode of a twisty drama about a guy whose wife is killed in a hit and run accident... but is it really an accident?, and he travels from Israel to New York to investigate. It was more fun than the game.

    1st half: the Mets were so smart to wait because they got an All-Star starter for next-to-nothing by showing patience. What a smart Front Office we have and how dumb the other teams are. 2d half: maybe they knew what they were talking about.

    The game is also on TBS with Brian Anderson and RON DARLING, in the ballpark. It's Roy Halladay Day and everyone gets (the author apologizes for making a drug use joke).

    They could have resigned Wheeler AND traded for Stroman or resigned Wheeler and kept Kay and Woods-Richardson (the lack of 2d level prospects impacted the trade deadline) but they let Wheeler go (and he went to a division foe), kept Stroman (who I like, this isn't his doing) and cocky asshat BVW told Jeffy that Stroman was just as good (which is what Jeffy wanted to hear so he didn't have to spend money) and then insulted Wheeler ("two half-seasons") which Wheeler might have taped to his locker for inspiration. Remember this when Stroman signs with Toronto or Arizona (I think he has a house there) and the Mets end up with zero for BVW's big trade.

    Fastballs in the strike zone were too much for Pete and JD. Too bad that Dave Jauss wasn't the pitcher.

    All this after Ken Rosenthal's breathless report about the greatness of Megill. Hell of a play by Villar who peaked two months ago and someone needs to tell Luis (last night's HR notwithstanding). I'd almost rather see Ty Kelly than another minute of Villar.

    Luis "stacks" the lineup against a lefty starter which makes sense except that he's not going for more than 3 or 4 so what will Luis do then? Luis PH's Conforto for Drury which means that he has lost Drury for one 2d inning AB.

    I agree with "Lindor returns and he and Baez create some chemistry". Maybe he'll be back in 2 weeks rather than a month.
