  1. Edgy MD wrote: I feel like Villar has been in the lineup every day for like 1,000 games. That's also the number of times he's been picked off.
  2. Conforto has been hitting. Therefore, he should be in the lineup even though a LHP is starting. Plus, he's a better fielder than Drury so Pillar can move to LF. There, I've thought this out better than everyone in the Mets organization. (Destroy this message if Drury goes nuts today.) Jose Martinez homered for SYR today so I imagine that we'll see him at CF on Tuesday.
  3. Baez is eligible to come off the IL today and it sounds like Lindor is healthy or at least much healthier. There's no time like the present and the Mets need them so I hope that management isn't going to wait until Tuesday to activate them.
  4. At least they kept their top prospects and didn't make any dopey, futile trades!
  5. The Hot Corner wrote: I have essentially resigned myself to the Braves once again winning the NLeast. And that's without one of the best players in baseball (and another starting OF).
  6. When Lindor and Baez return tomorrow, Luis will have a tough time figuring out who should play 3B and LF b/c no one deserves to start.
  7. Can you strike out 3X in one-week w/the bases loaded? JD Davis can.
  8. =G-Fafif post_id=75124 time=1629577324 user_id=55] Old Dude still has some pop.
  9. The dreaded leadoff double hurts the Mets again. In another two weeks, the Mets can waive Hill (great pickup, Zack!) and get a look at someone for 2022.
  10. As if there was any doubt:
  11. =G-Fafif post_id=75088 time=1629514703 user_id=55] Who is this “Gary” and what has he done with Howie?
  12. =kcmets post_id=75084 time=1629513439 user_id=53] =bmfc1 post_id=75080 time=1629512840 user_id=73]Howie with Todd Zeile on TV. They are in Connecticut so the delay will be obvious.
  13. Joined in progress. The Mets conceded a run in the first which might mean the game given the way they've been hitting and the pitcher they are facing. LAD is dressed like crap but I don't think that it will hurt their game. Gary with Todd Zeile on TV. They are in Connecticut so the delay will be obvious. Wayne with Ed Coleman on Radio. Coleman is really bad at announcing. The Mets catchers are Patrick Mazeika and Chance Sisco.
  14. James McCann is on the IL; Geoff Hartlieb has returned.
  15. More from Tim Britton (citation above): [bLOCKQUOTE]...The Mets have the eighth-highest chase rate in baseball. That has created a double whammy: The Mets don't get into good hitters' counts often (they've had the fewest plate appearances in the National League that end with the batter ahead), and they don't capitalize on them when they do (they're 14th in the NL in OPS when ahead in the count). No team in the NL has seen fewer 3-0 counts, and the Mets are hitting only .157 when they get them. It's not just that New York didn't get to a 3-0 count Thursday; it didn't even see a three-ball count against seven Los Angeles pitchers. The Mets don't see a lot of pitches to begin with (3.80 per plate appearance this season, 14th in the NL), and they're seeing even fewer (3.75) in August.[/bLOCKQUOTE]
  16. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Head up his ass More on McNeil from Tim Britton in The Athletic today: [bLOCKQUOTE]For McNeil individually, the pressure is about to amplify. Four hours before Thursday's game, Francisco Lindor and Javy Báez worked the middle infield together, preparing for returns that could come early next homestand. Rojas made clear that Báez would play second beside Lindor at short. That leaves third base and the corner outfield for McNeil — spots now occupied by J.D. Davis, Michael Conforto and Dominic Smith. The Mets need to ride the hot hands, and McNeil isn't one of them right now. https://theathletic.com/2780903/2021/08/20/jeff-mcneils-struggles-are-a-proxy-for-the-mets-larger-approach-issues/?source=emp_shared_articlehttps://theathletic.com/2780903/2021/08/20/jeff-mcneils-struggles-are-a-proxy-for-the-mets-larger-approach-issues/?source=emp_shared_article[/bLOCKQUOTE]
  17. JD hurts the Mets with his baserunning mistake and then in the field AND THEN blames Pete for not catching the ball:
  18. We weren't happy about the 9:45 PM starts in SF but those look better in comparison with a 10:10 PM start.
  19. The 2 replacement catchers got hits in the big inning and Reed (who has had a busy year on the transaction list) came through again: https://www.mlb.com/player/jake-reed-596082https://www.mlb.com/player/jake-reed-596082
  20. Attn Luis Rojas: Under these idiotic rules, the correct strategy is for the visiting team to play for 2 runs, not 1. Please adjust accordingly. Thanks for your cooperation. How come we know that but the Manager, the Bench Coach, and the 6 or so other Coaches on the bench don't? No one told him, "Maz can't bunt" and "Maz is a good contact hitter and a lefty".
  21. Steve's tweet has really lit a fire under this team!
  22. Coincidentally, Castellanos hit a HR last night, though not during the game in question. And there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos.
  23. https://nypost.com/2021/08/18/how-yankees-mets-broadcasts-can-go-back-to-being-the-gold-standard/https://nypost.com/2021/08/18/how-yankees-mets-broadcasts-can-go-back-to-being-the-gold-standard/ Gary and Keith will be LIVE from Washington over Labor Day weekend!
  24. Another day, another baserunner erased.
