  1. The title made me think of Queen: "Can anybody find me somebody to love?' Other than a MFY v WSH matchup, I can't think of a worse Series pairing than this one. Baseball-wise, it's fine but it will be hard to look at it despite the glory of the WS and the excitement of two very good teams when it's THESE two teams and these two fanbases.
  2. =bmfc1 post_id=79219 time=1633367318 user_id=73] Wild Cards: Red Sox; Cardinals ALDS: Rays; White Sox NLDS: Giants; Brewers ALCS: White Sox NLCS: Giants World Series: White Sox in 6
  3. ATL made numerous smart movies at the deadline, especially with Rosario who was on the IL at the time and didn't have to give up a Top 5 prospect in any deal.
  4. Don't give me this "ATL has grown on me" crap. Yeah, they're a good story but it's still the chopping Braves that you rooted against all season. And if that hasn't convinced you, anti-vacc'er Travis Tritt is signing the Anthem tonight so F*CK THEM. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/columnist/dan-wolken/2021/10/23/travis-tritt-atlanta-braves-nlcs-national-anthem/6154830001/https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/columnist/dan-wolken/2021/10/23/travis-tritt-atlanta-braves-nlcs-national-anthem/6154830001/
  5. =Ceetar post_id=80082 time=1634906704 user_id=102] you gotta be hella republican..err, discriminatory to not even put out a mostly meaningless rote PR tweet.
  6. Yesterday was "Spirit Day", a day to decry the bullying of LGBTQ+ youths. Every MLB team posted a message on Twitter supporting the day and the intended message, including the Mets. The Texas Rangers omitted the "LGTQ+" portion, making it a general statement against bullying which missed the intention of the day. Atlanta and Houston did the same but at least included a link to GLAAD. The Texas Rangers didn't even bother. The Athletic's Levi Weaver is all over the story. If you don't have access, here's a portion of his article in which the team doubled down on what it did by saying that we're "against bullying" without recognizing the purpose of the day: [bLOCKQUOTE]...the conclusion seems to be that someone in a very high-up place inside the organization has made an intentional decision that the team's official channels would not voice public support for the LGBTQ+ community, even on a topic as simple as an anti-bullying initiative. Making matters more confusing, Rangers part-owner and COO Neil Leibman is the chairman of Major League Baseball's diversity, equity and inclusion committee, according to this article in the New York Times. https://theathletic.com/2905710/2021/10/22/weaver-the-rangers-persistent-refusal-to-acknowledge-lgbtq-fans-and-community-is-unacceptable/https://theathletic.com/2905710/2021/10/22/weaver-the-rangers-persistent-refusal-to-acknowledge-lgbtq-fans-and-community-is-unacceptable/[/bLOCKQUOTE]
  7. Perhaps the Mets should sign Schwarber to be the DH for '22 (if they think that there will be a DH).
  8. The media is contorting itself to fit the #LOLMets narrative by yelling that the Mets were "rejected" by these three, but: Theo--maybe he didn't want the job (he had that job in Chicago and left it) or maybe he likes his current job in the Commissioner's Office (low stress) or maybe he did but he wanted a % of the team and Steve didn't want to give it to him; Stears--is under contract and the Brewers' owner wants him to fulfill his contract/likes enslaving his front office people; Beane--has an ownership interest in Oakland or might not want to switch coasts or might want to be a part of a team move or might want to be part of building a new stadium or doesn't want to work harder or might like having an excuse for never winning because Oakland is not a big market or maybe his daughter sang that song again.
  9. I've seen the catch less than 10 times. It's great, it's amazin', but I can't separate the catch from the aftermath.
  10. Side note: if there's a comet involved in any remaining post-season games I humbly request that it be at a game that Joe Buck is covering on FOX. We're in the midst of peak Joe Buck season as FOX deems him to be too important to miss any game. As a result, he is calling: [list=]Thursday Night Football The ALCS and then the World Series The NFL on Sunday if FOX has a doubleheader game going to most of the country (not today but next week). I don't hate the guy, he's funny with Howard Stern and was great on Brockmire, but I resent him dropping in for MLB now and again instead of someone that has been calling games all season long, and then we'll hear him for four days in a row from 3 different cities. (Perhaps I resent it because his father was so damn overrated.) It's as if F*x Sports thinks "the public will be outraged if Joe Davis or Guys! calls a World Series game" when no one would care. And I'm pretty sure that more people would prefer hearing Gus Johnson on the NFL. This concludes the Rudy Martzke portion of this post.
  11. I concur. I'd also advocate for an in-season Cover of the Month (but I'm not doing the work).
  12. LAD in 5.
  13. I'll go through the same exercise I did with the ALCS: Reasons to support Atlanta: 1) NL East Rules!; 2) Freddie Freeman is a good guy (as noted every time he appears); 3) they are a good story overcoming the injury of Acuna and the incarceration of Ozuna. Reasons to support Los Angeles: 1) they won over 100 games, that should mean something; 2) their manager is in the nightmares of MFY fans; 3) we've been rooting for the team that plays ATL all year so why stop now?; 4) they are Steve Cohen's model for the Mets so if they win again he recommits to doing the voodoo that they do so well. Reasons not to support Atlanta: So many. So, so many. I'll start with the Chop and the fans that Chop Reasons not to support Los Angeles: 1) they won last year so enough already; 2) Washington Baseball Team fans have adopted them for the playoffs because of Scherzer and T. Turner and I never want WBT fans to be happy; 3) their fans are front-runners and stupid.
  14. From this quote, I'm guessing that management told him to do something in the WC loss to the Dodgers and he didn't obey:
  15. It appears to have surprised every baseball writer, as well. Perhaps the next manager of the Mets or Padres?
  16. Game One, Friday night, 8:07 PM, with Joe Buck who did the football game last night because FOX thinks that we have to hear him every damn night no matter what the sport. The Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox will play in the ALCS. Do you have a preference? Reasons to support Houston: I can't think of any. Reason to support Boston: 1) if they win it pisses of MFY fans; 2) I'd rather see Fenway during the WS than Minute Maid Enron Park Reasons not to support Houston: 1) they play in Texas which is now the worst state in America. Yeah, Alabama and Mississippi can look at Texas and say, "we ain't even that dumb!"; 2) they cheated; 3) 5 years in a row in the ALCS is impressive but enough--Texans are insufferable already and they don't need another reason. Reasons not to support Boston: 1) enough already. It was cute when they won once but now their fans are on the level of Patriots fans in terms of being obnoxious; 2) Alex Cora is the manager, a former Met which is a good thing of course, but the Bench Coach for Houston at their cheating apex (as far as we know). He only had to sit out one season, and it was a 60-game season, and now he's back. Some punishment by MLB.
  17. I was slumped in my chair watching ATL and their moronic fans celebrate and then I saw this post and perked up. Let's go!
  18. The only good thing about this is that Cohen can call Stearns now. Same with Josh Byrnes if LAD loses tonight.
  19. Every Brewer should do to Devin Williams what he did to the wall. Williams would have been pitching in the 8th, not Hader, when FF hit the HR and that was Williams' job.
  20. I give that MF Rupert Murdoch too much of my $ via my cable bill. There's no way that I will voluntarily give him another cent.
  21. =kcmets post_id=79623 time=1634007546 user_id=53] =bmfc1 post_id=79621 time=1634006274 user_id=73] Ugh, I hope that we're not going to have Boston v Houston and Atlanta v LA.
  22. Ugh, I hope that we're not going to have Boston v Houston and Atlanta v LA.
  23. Dusty Baker overmanages by replacing Garcia with Garcia in the middle of Garcia's at-bat and Garcia blasts a 3-run homer.
  24. It's absurd. It wasn't "fielded cleanly" so it "retains its status as batted ball" and therefore "is a ground rule double", thus rewarding the fielder for his misplay. And it facilitates a Boston win. F that. Because it was "deflected", Boston wins.
  25. 1 out of every 10 calls was incorrect. I don't blame Hernandez, he can't help being awful at his job, I blame Manfred and the Umpire's Union which rewards longevity rather than ability. There was a call so bad in the first quarter of today's Jets game that I'm sure that it was made by Angel Hernandez.
