  1. Yes we do.
  2. This will be great, as long as they don't use unique numbers for the out-of-town pitchers which require you to buy the scorecard to decode (as was done at Shea for a while).
  3. If I was a voter, I would never vote for someone who said that I should be killed, but that's just me.
  4. Come on Edgy, use the guy's real name:
  5. "What's the deal with 'Dealing'?"
  6. How did you get Jerry to hold up this Round's winning cover? Did he do it for free as a Mets fan or did he charge his usual rate?
  7. https://twitter.com/martinonyc/status/1470095528000118784 Kirby played 26 games for the 1998 Mets.
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'm somewhat surprised at how formal the uniforms are at that level. Friday games are "business casual" so ties are not required.
  9. A follow-up article said that the Mets are trying to make the pick by the end of next week.
  10. "STYAB" might be a Derby record for the number of words in the headline + subheadline.

One of the interviewees is Matt Quatraro (who is not Suzi Quatro, singer of the 1978 hit "Stumblin' In"). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Quatrarohttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Quatraro He seems to be very qualified but let's see if he lights up the room.
  12. If I judged based on my other preferences I would never vote for anything Murdoch-related but the importance and the sanctity of this process call for us to cast aside any other prejudices or beliefs and to simply focus on the covers presented to us.
  13. Note that Mike Shildt, formerly of STL and #3 in MoY voting, isn't being named/leaked as a candidate for the job. I thought that he'd be a frontrunner. I don't know the right answer but this decision might be one of polar opposites: a 65-year old veteran who has managed more than 3000 games (Dusty Baker is 72 and he did well in HOU) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_Showalter#Baltimore_Orioleshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_Showalter#Baltimore_Orioles https://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-colossal-inexplicable-mistake-of-buck-showalter-081733150.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-colossal-inexplicable-mistake-of-buck-showalter-081733150.html (the decision that might have cost the Orioles a WS title) or a 46-year old who has never managed anywhere https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Espadahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Espada Whatever they decide, it shouldn't be based on Luis's failures (he was new so we shouldn't hire another new guy) because everyone is different (and maybe Espada doesn't manage based on "up/downs"). Howie continues to campaign for Buck:
  14. Or, do you pick a newbie after firing a newbie? https://sny.tv/articles/mets-manager-search-tracker-2022-seasonhttps://sny.tv/articles/mets-manager-search-tracker-2022-season
  15. While the GMs and Agents secretly enjoy this period where no deals can be made I'm guessing that the day after the lockout ends a plethora of deals will be announced.
  16. Two covers with 3 players that recently rejected offers from the Mets (Noah is in the Matz cover).
  17. Yusei Kikuchi appears to be on their radar. He's a LH SP, was good enough to make the AL All-Star team, and then faded enough to be left off the Mariners' playoff roster. I have some knowledge of him as he was on my fantasy team for a good part of last year (he faded enough that I cut him). He was indeed great and then, erratic, and then bad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yusei_Kikuchihttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yusei_Kikuchi https://www.fangraphs.com/players/yusei-kikuchi/20633/stats?position=Phttps://www.fangraphs.com/players/yusei-kikuchi/20633/stats?position=P
  18. MLB players are changing their Twitter avatar to a generic silhouette of a baseball player.
  19. So less than 24 hours after the magnificent FA signings the Mets are not allowed to talk about it. What a bunch of dopes.
  20. Going back to Boston. He was good for 4 or 5 innings, 2 ER. Seemed like a good guy.
  21. I loved watching him pitch. I loved watching him field. One of my favorites and I will miss him.
  22. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=82270 time=1638378954 user_id=68] I agree about the DH - it doesn't create more jobs. It creates different jobs. Wanna create more jobs? Expand the rosters. Otherwise it's a zero sum game; add a DH and lose a position somewhere else.
