  1. Lefty has clinched this title for Question 1, unfortunately.
  2. Edgy MD wrote: I feel ya, but part of me likes the idea of the Mets watching. Thank you, Chance the Gardener.
  3. =kcmets post_id=78990 time=1633055712 user_id=53] Whoa, I don't even wanna know how you banged that out.
  4. AL Wild Card update: Yankees 91-68 +2.0 Red Sox 89-70 -- Mariners 89-70 -- Blue Jays 88-71 1.0 Three games left for each. NYY at Rays, Red Sox at WSH, Mariners vs. Angels, Blue Jays vs. Orioles. If things ended today, Mariners at Fenway in Game 163, the winner faces NYY.

  6. Why did McCann look to see where the ball was when he was chugging between 3d and home? Alonso was there to tell him to slide. Perhaps McCann forgot the route as he's run home so infrequently this season.
  7. The use of Tears For Fears was excellent.
  8. =Fman99 post_id=78838 time=1632913767 user_id=86] Still haven't watched this yet. I know, I know.
  9. Pete responds to my criticism in last night's thread with #36. He obviously reads the CPF.
  10. I know that last night's game wasn't important so I don't want to overstate any AB but... GKR praised Pete for "a good at bat" and that "he battled" after striking out in the 9th inning last night. Sorry, but Pete is too good a player so let's not give Pete kudos for failing to get on base, especially against a nobody even if Keith made Florio sound like an all-star. Pete was up in the count 2-1 and, predictably, waived at a fastball (just 92 MPH) that was out of the strike zone. It's the same pitch he's missed all season. He fouled off 3 pitches and took it to 3-2 before weakly flying out on a borderline pitch. I'm not here to bury Pete but GKR came across as homers (which is something that Pete didn't hit and hasn't since September 22).
  11. The Mets could IL Taijuan now that he's done for the year to add a player (e.g. bring back SRF) but I wonder if they will even bother.
  12. Excellent set-up reliever for MIL now lost for the playoffs because he is an idiot. Walls remain undefeated.
  13. The Mets are also playing for a higher draft pick. I want them to win every game but if they don't: http://www.tankathon.com/mlbhttp://www.tankathon.com/mlb "Any team that signs a player who has rejected a qualifying offer is subject to the loss of one or more Draft picks. While a team's highest first-round pick is exempt from forfeiture, any additional first-round picks are eligible." https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/qualifying-offerhttps://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/qualifying-offer The compensation pick at 11 is locked in so if the Mets fell to 10 and signed a FA that rejected a QO they'd lose their 3d pick but at their current draft position they would lose that pick. So if the Mets want to sign FA Robbie Ray and he is offered a QO then they would lose a 1st round pick. However, if they signed Starling Marte (my recommendation, if they should ask) they would not lose a draft pick as he was traded this season. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/qualifying-offerhttps://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/qualifying-offer
  14. No one predicted that he'd finish with a 0.00 ERA.
  15. I apologize for not checking this thread and answering your questions. I don't apologize for crushing the competition in the playoffs. And it's bmfc, as in Bob Murphy Fan Club, as in league champion. Let's do it again in '22.
  16. The Mets win on a Mazeika!
  17. Nido can't hit but they couldn't PH for him because they only have one other catcher. It would be nice if they could carry 3 C's (it would be nicer if they had 3 C's worth carrying).
  18. What this sounds like is more noise during the game and between innings. Forget about talking.

    Martino seems to have a crush on Luis but his hopes will be crushed on Monday (I think). He can go make bad decisions for another team as far as I'm concerned. "the idea that McNeil had claimed the job in a way that Smith hadn't was spurious." Yeah. I didn't understand why McNeil was selected and not Dom but maybe the analytics staff saw something and decided to lock it in for the month (as Edgy said). "it was easy to forget that Luis Guillorme, on the other hand, was even still on the roster." On September 14 perhaps Luis forgot when, as I drove home from Jason Isbell, Baez tied it in the 9th and then Rojas used Reed, who was just off the IL, in the 11th when Devin Williams was available and STL scored 3. The Mets scored 2, had the tying run on 2d with 2 outs, a LHP on the mound, so Luis PH Almora instead of Guillorme because lefty/righty even though Guillorme is a far superior hitter and the Mets lost. Almora was sent down the next day and was just DFA'd and that's who the manager used in a big situation.
  20. Jake had a strong season in Binghamton and looks like a 4-category player. I suspect that we'll see a lot of him in ST '22 and that he starts the season in Syracuse. https://www.milb.com/player/jake-mangum-663968 https://metsmerizedonline.com/2021/09/jake-mangum-impresses-with-double-a-binghamton.html/
  21. I'd be happy to see TOR and SEA make it in lieu of NYY and BOS.
  22. Good news for Tuesday's doubleheader!
  23. Imagine how CF would be if the Mets were two outs from clinching the division. Imagine how we would feel. Maybe next year... once again.
  24. Familia comes in and everything turns to sh*t again. He should be DFA'd the second the Mets make the final out of the top of the 9th next Sunday.
