That was Danielle who is a good fan and worth following.

WTF Pete? Call up Dom and give Pete a game off.

Hopefully, Taijuan doesn't swat a fair ball away from him again. 6:35 PM start. No real histories to speak of other than perhaps, Naquin: https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-pirates/2022/09/06/662282#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=662282https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-pirates/2022/09/06/662282#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=662282

This is a taste of 2023 as the Mets have an off-day next Labor Day (and Memorial Day, too),

Did the "soft part of the schedule" apply to the teams playing the Mets and not the teams the Mets were playing?

GKR have praised WSH's "energy". F that and F them for not acknowledging the Mets' incompetence. McNeil gave them 2, make that 4 runs. Carrasco is facing minor leaguers and has-beens. The batters are facing a minor leaguer and a shitty one at that.

WSH this year and he's pitched well. The Mets faced Fedde twice and crushed him in May.

Medina won't be with them tomorrow when Carrasco returns. Perhaps Williams would have been a better choice but Buck didn't have a lot of options.

They know that Corbin is horrible, right? The absence of any offense tonight is upsetting.

Yeah, but the problem is that Gore and Marrero aren't really lineup-caliber for a 1st place team. Nevertheless, I agree with you. If Marrero started maybe McNeil could stay off whatever was injured yesterday. The others are McCann (his reward for hitting the ball hard 3X is a night off), Ruf (1B and then Pete has to DH so you can't DH Vogelbach), and Naquin

Gore's arrival means an inconvenient truth for Bretty Baty.

September 7th is "La Cheeserie" Day in Syracuse as the Tony Kornheiser podcast is honored. Some of the front office staff listens to the show and decided to do this just for the hell of it. Tony is now aware (even though he will not be there).

Mets +2: the Mets, and everyone else, can add two players tomorrow: https://www.mlb.com/news/what-to-expect-with-september-expanded-rosters?t=mlb-pipeline-coveragehttps://www.mlb.com/news/what-to-expect-with-september-expanded-rosters?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Carlos Carrasco will be taken off the IL by Saturday so that's one unless they send down Tommy Hunter or Mychael Givens. Travis Jankowski is a strong possibility as he gives them depth in the OF and a badly needed pinch runner. (He's not on the 40-man.) Mark Vientos is hot and could spark the offense but is he going to play? (He's on the 40-man.) Michael Perez could return to allow Buck to more freely pinch-hit for McCann and Nido. (He's on the 40-man.)

Not a good game for Billy's lack of deadline moves: the bullpen gave up the go-ahead run, McCann did nothing, Naquin did nothing, and Ruf did nothing (seriously, why did they think he was better than JD?). UPDATED: plus, Vogelbach hit into a 9th inning DP.

Walk, HBP, single. Way to go, Pete!
  21. bmfc1
Bassitt got a groundout on a groundball and gave up a single on a similar groundball. Buck might have overmanaged here. Update: not might, did. And this was the bounty that Eppler received in the "bountiful" relief market.

Now that MLB has every team playing each other, it's long past time to dump the extra “natural rivalry” series games. The Mets don't need to play extra games against the Yankees, and the…checks notes…Pirates/Tigers, Rockies/Astros, Padres/Mariners, and Phillies/Blue Jays don't need it either. Especially when, as you wrote, some teams don't have a "natural" rival (e.g. TOR, ATL). The Mets get an extra game against the (sadly) always good NYYs because of this concept.

Done with west coast travel by the All-Star Break One west coast trip in April means more warm(er) weather games at home Off on Memorial Day AND Labor Day.
  24. bmfc1
4 runs in 2 games in that place.
