My dislike for SF fans after my trip there in '10 decreased until today. I hope that Wright takes it out on them in the upcoming series. Did SF have more home games during the voting period than the Mets? Johan didn't even make the ballot for the fan spot.

Let's hope that The Mets are not already satisfied with winning the series or distracted/annoyed by having to play another Sunday night game and then travelling across the country, thereby losing some of their day off. Kick 'em while they're down!

Nice, low stress win.

Mets: tag opposing runner out but runner is called safe; Met ejected protesting wrong call. MFY: opposing batter is called out when MFY falls into stands, touches but does not catch ball; ump assumes catch as he does not even ask MFY to show him the ball when he gets up.

Geez, the MFYs get all the calls: @SBerthiaumeESPN: #Yankees Dewayne Wise dove into LF stands. Ball clanked off glove, was picked up by fan 3 seats away Called catch

Way to stand up for your team Shorty. Go out and show some passion.

Only a one base error... PROGRESS!

Are they getting paid for tonight's game?

I'm trying not to get upset tonight but holy shit, WTF was that?

The bench now has a too many middle IFs. Could use Pascucci so there's someone that is most likely to hit a 3-run homer (Nickeas, Turner, Q, Cedeno/Murphy, Nieuwenhuis/Torres).

A few things first thing the day after: Rottino DFA'd, LHP Justin Hampson up: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hampsju01.shtml Former major league and LI Duck. The bench now has a too many middle IFs. Could use Pascucci so there's someone that is likelier to hit a 3 run homer (Nickeas, Turner, Q, Cedeno/Murphy, Nieuwenhuis/Torres). Terry didn't use Byrdak because he wanted to save his relievers as he was one short. This, of course, is nonsense as it means he was managing for the 9th and beyond instead of the moment. It's one thing to look ahead, it's another to have Batista pitch against a great hitter in a tie game.

Edgy DC wrote: Rottino should've started, man. I agree, but Shorty thought it was more important to get Turner's bat in the lineup so it was OK to play Turner at first.

Where the hell was that pitch, ump? Oh that's right... MFY pitchers get every close call so go ahead and call him out on a pitch at his ankle, you blind, overpaid, sonuvabitch.

"inter-league's done"--we can't say that for all of the 2013 season. F U Bud.

Edgy DC wrote: Trying to be charitable, but Batista is not the guy I want to see in this game. Especially for a second inning. Terry is one down in the bullpen and it's effecting his decisions.

The thing is, EVERYBODY uses that line when they defend the DH. I just stupidly thought Tito might be a bit smarter, or at least less cliche-dependent. Abandoning the DH could create jobs AND save the owners money: the DH is usually a highly paid position as it's often a veteran player. You could have a 26 man roster but no DH, giving jobs to two, lesser paid, bench players.

Rottino! Torres! Tejada!

"Dickey's not so great when he's facing the New York Fucking Yankees! --Every Yankee fan tomorrow.

I really don't care if players smile and act happy when they do well, but when Jose Reyes was slapping after homeruns he was criticized. So how come Swisher doesn't get the same criticism?

Possibly Omar as he's redundant with Cedeno around. Ike is still sick so maybe Hefner. I hope that Turner can handle 1B tonight.

Have the Mets left a zillion runners in scoring position tonight?
