  1. The Giants must have signed him so he couldn't hit against Bumgarner again. Oh, that slam... perhaps the Wild Card game would have turned out differently if he was healthy and in the lineup.
  2. I don't know if Sandy is going to take his shot with B Dot Ham, who doesn't get on base enough to be Sandy's type of player. The idea of having that kind of speed would Be Enough for many of us but I think that Sandy doesn't want to get Burned. There are more songs to pun about.
  3. The home game on 5/29 was moved to 4 PM because of the Sunday Night game. Better but still not great.
  4. Also, the Mets play on Sunday night in Pittsburgh and have a 1 PM game the next day in Queens.
  5. In case you're wondering who will be on the cover of the Sporting News Baseball Yearbook for 2017 (regional edition), it's Noah: I'm not sure what ballpark that is but it's the same one on all of the covers: https://www.snyearbooks.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=store.covers&catid=1&year=2017#
  6. The level of analysis that Benjamin Grimm and the CPF voters bring to this "derby" is wonderful.
  7. Morgan Freeman wears a Mets cap in the trailer for "Going In Style" (at 1:30):
  8. Someone who works for The Daily News picked the top 20 back pages of 2016. Mets-wise it includes: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/daily-news-best-back-pages-2016-gallery-1.2917398?pmSlide=1.2917376 http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/daily-news-best-back-pages-2016-gallery-1.2917398?pmSlide=1.2917380 http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/daily-news-best-back-pages-2016-gallery-1.2917398?pmSlide=1.2917383 http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/daily-news-best-back-pages-2016-gallery-1.2917398?pmSlide=1.2917392 http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/daily-news-best-back-pages-2016-gallery-1.2917398?pmSlide=1.2917396
  9. I'm with Fman99 here. It's a close call but how many Matt Reynolds covers are there and Noah's has a MFY-stench.
  10. Amazin' Avenue's #5—Dominic Smith: His contact ability and defensive abilities seem to draw universal faith. Even with his 14 homers this season, there's still concern over whether his power will emerge. Me and bmfc saw him on the same night and we were both more concerned with the bowling ball he carries around under his shirt. Not a great picture but yes, he's definitely a big boy and also, "baby's got back" (not pictured).
  11. I read this from the bottom up and wondered when Julia-Louis Dreyfus Day became real.
  12. I went to the "Dozen" game but the Yo picture, fortunately, could have been from many games. The "Seeds" picture was, unfortunately, unique. And I like any cover with stuff being poured.
  13. Paul Seward, still with the Mets organization, who combs his hair like he's an extra in Mad Men, got engaged: Instagram WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM Create an account or log in to Instagram - Share what you're into with the people who get you.
  14. A nice surprise for the Mets not to lose Sewald or Evans. Meanwhile, the MFY's lost 4 players in the 1st round (note Edgy's parenthetical comments). Tough break, so sorry.
  15. When Brach was named to the All-Star team, he was the player Gary didn't recognize.
  16. The "Hope" cover was one of the best of the season.
  17. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/lets-fix-the-mets-outfield/ Interesting column suggesting trading Conforto rather than Bruce.
  18. From hair on in, I'm not voting for any of deCovers which use "de" instead of "the".
  19. Were all the local photographers on vacation on August 5? All 3 covers use the same picture.
  20. Bagwell, Guerrero, Raines, Rodriguez. I have a tough time distinguishing between relievers (why Hoffman but not Smith or Wagner, or any combination thereof?).
  21. They might lose Sewald who has been excellent in the AFL.
  22. Good stuff here Vic. It's a nice problem to have--having good prospects that you want to keep who other teams might want to take from you. Champ Stuart is interesting (Edgy can talk about him with more knowledge than I can). He's a speed guy in a slow organization and he is a good CFer. He didn't hit in AA but had a strong WBC series for Britain and he seems to be playing well in Arizona (per Rubin: Stuart .300/.329/400).
  23. I've read that his mother is Jewish. And a Ty goes to the Jew... or something like that.
  24. I hope that Hillary has a safe trip "out west".
  25. The Mets have now gotten rid of both halves of the '86 2B platoon as Tim Teufel has been removed as the Mets 3B coach. Glenn Sherlock is your new one and I presume he's good: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Sherlock Sherlock is also the catching coach.
