Your team is below .500, way below expectations, you have a 1st-year manager and you're not sure he knows what he's doing, and you have a big name OF who is not giving you anything close to what you expected from him... it sounds familiar but you must be a Nationals fan! The Mets take on the sub-.500 Nationals today. It's Corey Oswalt (0-2, 6.75, 1.15 WHIP-!!!) against RHP Jeremy Hellickson (3-1, 3.47, 1.09). Hellickson comes off 5 IP and no ER against PIT but before that, he gave up 8 ER in 4 IP against Miami. He's only made 3 starts since returning from the DL so look for him to be gone after the 5th (unless the Mets have dispensed with him sooner). He might be leaving early if only to avoid facing a lineup for the 3d time: scroll to the "By Innings/Pitches" stats. http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/30506/jeremy-hellickson Against Hellickson, Jose Bautista is 12-35 with 3 HR, Asdrubal Cabrera is 11-26 with a HR, Jose Reyes is 12-33 with a HR (and Yoenis Cespedes has 3 HR--DAMMIT!). On April 16, he pitched 4 2/3 against the Mets (2 ER, 7 H). Corey Oswalt comes off his best performance as a Met, 6 IP and 3 ER against PHI. None of the Nationals have seen him before. Won't they be surprised! Since there isn't much to say about Corey how about Patton Oswalt: his Netflix special "Annihilation" is excellent. This is a big game. Sure, the Mets are out of it but it would be nice to go into the break on a 3-game winning streak. And it would make the Nationals 2 under .500 while making them and their dopey fans live with a 3-game losing streak until Friday.
