  1. I really look forward to hearing A. Rodriguez reminiscing about his days at Yankee Stadium. And the box over the strike zone. And Matt (XFL) Vasgersian.
  2. Good analysis, thank you ABNSeo.
  3. HahnSolo wrote: That’s two ejections today and I didn’t exactly see Mickey Callaway do much to support his kicked-out coach and player. In Saturday night's Cubs game, Baez got tossed, like Cabrera, for being demonstrably angry after a called 3rd strike/check swing. Like Cabrera, Baez got tossed. The difference was that Joe Maddon ran out, got in the ump's face and also got tossed.

  5. The cynic in me thinks that the Mets are more likely to get Julie Andrews than Victor Victor(ia) because they never get the best guy but it's something to hope for. Thank you JCL. Pete McCarthy is talking about him, too.
  6. Mets trade checklist: A minor league middle reliever--CHECK A mid-level prospect who is not ready for the majors--CHECK International slot money that fans don't care about or can keep track of but it sounds important--CHECK Salary relief--CHECK, CHECK, DEFINITELY CHECK. This deal hits all the boxes! Well done Tri-GMs!
  7. Time for Devin Mesothelioma to be traded. He's going to be a FA anyway and they have plenty of below-average catchers.
  8. Welcome Will Toffey: https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa829401&position=3B #7 on the Fangraphs list I cited earlier. 7. Will Toffey | 3B | A+ —> Toffey got off to a strong start in April but missed over a month with an injury before returning to action at the end of May. He hasn’t looked right since and his numbers have suffered. When he’s going well, he controls the strike zone, hits line drives and gets on base at an above-average clip. He has a chance to be a solid regular at third base. And welcome non-top prospect Bobby Wahl, RHP, who is currently in AAA: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/wahlbo01.shtml 65 K's in 39.2 IP. Finally, welcome international slot money. And the A's take on all of Familia's salary so the trade is a big win for the Wilpons.
  9. By all means don't get anyone who could help you next year. [tweet:359hqj32]https://twitter.com/martinonyc/status/1020740681185353728[/tweet:359hqj32]
  10. I was hoping that Mickey would show some passion there and get in someone's face but no.
  11. Lovely SNY montage with scary music to MdD's inning from hell. When the dugout guy handed MdD the water, I was surprised that the cup made it into his hand. (That was mean.)
  12. Given that MdD is O for the season, he better make those plays.
  13. MFY fans scream like idiots at every fly ball thinking that it's a home run. Normally that's stupid but there it's somewhat understandable.
  14. The bullpen is 3 short today: Familia, Lugo and Gsellman. I'm sure that Matz will go 7 so everything is fine.
  15. They have a guy staying at the Stadium Motor Lodge, he's in uniform, he has the Uber app and he's ready to go.
  16. From Tim Britton in The Athletic: Why hasn’t Céspedes gone under the knife yet? Well, it doesn’t sound as if he or the Mets understood the extent of the issue back in May, when he first landed on the disabled list. The Mets had mentioned the heels once before, but that wasn’t until two weeks ago. Assistant general manager John Ricco, part of the interim decision-making trio in the front office, talked about the heels as a chronic condition Céspedes has dealt with since he was a teenager; he did not mention the idea of surgery being a possibility. Céspedes on Friday night said they’ve only been getting worse in recent years. Why it has taken the organization this long to properly diagnose Céspedes recalls their similar medical meandering with David Wright. That did not turn out well. https://theathletic.com/440109/2018/07/21/heel-turn-yoenis-cespedes-bad-heels-further-muddy-mets-long-term-plans/
  17. No trade announcement yet. It must have been a sleepless night for Familia. I'm sure that Rosenthal and Olney were up all night trying to get the scoop. If it is Oakland, then Sandy is already there for an A's reunion this weekend. BTW, Jeff McNeil didn't play for the 51s last night so maybe he's on the way to New York. Two resources for A's prospects information: https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/oakland-athletics-top-10-prospects-updated/ http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=oak
  18. Exactly. If management knew about this then why did he rehab for so long? If they did then why did Sandy question his recovery time? It was like Cespedes was telling the reporters and the Mets brass about this for the first time.
  19. Did Rosario forget the number of outs or was that just enthusiasm?
  20. Tomorrow's game starts in 13 hours. It's practically a night/day doubleheader.
  21. [tweet:1z6tyc6v] [/tweet:1z6tyc6v]
  22. Familia is still in demand: [tweet:2alhrcd0] [/tweet:2alhrcd0] Oakland, Houston, Dodgers, Philadelphia and ?
  23. Meanwhile, at Nationals Park Strasburg gets mad at Scherzer: [tweet:2ec6t855] [/tweet:2ec6t855]
  24. That was not the best HR call of Gary's career.
  25. Geez Rosario, you're supposed to make that play.
