  1. If you think that McCann is a better hitter than Villar and want to go L/R/L/R, I would put McCann 6 and Villar (switch-hitter) at 8. This gives McCann some protection with McNeil after him and puts a fast guy at 8 so if he gets on with 0 or 1 outs and they insist on bunting with the pitcher, there is a greater chance of him successfully getting to 2B than McCann.
  2. If it was so important to get Villar "involved" (per Luis) at the expense of starting McNeil, then why didn't he get Nido "involved", too? There is no urgency with Luis. He sits Dom and then lets Pillar bat against a righty with the bases loaded. He sits McNeil today to get Villar "involved". He doesn't PH McNeil in the 2d down 4 with 2-on. Maybe these moves will pay off eventually but there's nothing wrong with managing with a sense of urgency.
  3. Swing the fucking bat!
  4. It's so good that Luis felt the need to get Villar some ABs, especially at McNeil's expense.
  5. I'd have pinch-hit there but I'd also have started McNeil so what do I know?
  6. The one for MASN (WSH and BAL) lights up to indicate the occupied base(s) but the top/bottom of the inning is indicated by the blank arrow. Be consistent! I don't need logos, but like team colors, pitch counts, batter and pitcher names.
  7. (I can write obtuse thread titles, too!) https://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/which-rsn-has-the-best-mlb-scorebug.htmlhttps://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/which-rsn-has-the-best-mlb-scorebug.html Did you know that there are 10 different types of scorebugs for televised MLB games? Which one do you like the most? The new "Bally's" one isn't bad but it has a distracting ticker with out-of-town game information.
  8. ATL faces WSH today and WSH will not have: Alex Avila, Josh Bell, Patrick Corbin, Yan Gomes, Brad Hand, Josh Harrison, Jon Lester, Jordy Mercer and Kyle Schwarber. ATL gets a depleted WSH team while the Mets got nothing except hotel points. I hate them so much.
  9. Counterargument: Jake only would have pitched one more inning and Castro didn't allow a run in the 7th so taking Jake out one inning too early didn't cost them the game as May would have likely started the 8th regardless of who pitched the 7th. I'm not sure if I buy it but I'm throwing it out there for consideration.
  10. After the game, Luis said that he had 6 "ups" which means that it's about the number of innings pitched and not the number of pitches. WTF?
  11. "Jake's pitching great!" "Yeah, but let's take him out because he hasn't pitched in a game in 2 weeks and it's a long season." "Uh, shouldn't we try and win this game? He's cruising!" "We'll be fine."
  12. If Pete makes the team, he gets another Home Run Derby.
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'm really glad the Mets fortified the bullpen with May and Loup. Nice moves, Sandy. Good thing they fired the haircut to bring him back.
  14. Oh boy, Luis' post-game Zoom is gonna be ugly. Not pinch-hitting Dom; not giving Jake one more inning. Sandy brought in Loup and May and they gave the game away.
  15. Pillar gets invited to some Bar Mitzvahs this season.
  16. I got my vaccinations at the home of an "ATL" team, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Thank you for putting together this list.
  17. This is a nice column and a worthwhile read.
  18. Mets Executive Chris Christie today called Joe Biden a "liar", disagreed w/MLB's moving the All-Star Game from Georgia because of the racist, anti-Democracy voting law, and defended this law. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/christie-georgia-voting-law-major-league-baseballhttps://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/christie-georgia-voting-law-major-league-baseball As MLB Players supported the Commissioner's decision, I wonder if Mets players heard what he said. I also wonder if the Commissioner will call Steve Cohen and ask why a Mets Executive is disagreeing with his move. Cohen said that Christie's hiring "wasn't about politics" but Christie is a former, and perhaps future, politician, who is a regular contributor on politics for ABC so Cohen can't expect us to believe that Christie is a brilliant baseball mind and ignore everything he does outside of his Mets role. Cohen royally screwed this up, embarrassed the Mets, embarrassed the Commissioner, and must fire Christie as fast as he fired the old GM. He won't, he's too arrogant, but he should.
  19. https://twitter.com/dougherty_jesse/status/1378701212967665666https://twitter.com/dougherty_jesse/status/1378701212967665666 If true, then ATL reaps the benefit of WSH's catching and failure to contain the virus while the Mets get doubleheaders and/or lost off-days, 4 days to sit in a hotel, only play an intrasquad game, and lose any momentum from ST. Brilliant plan MLB and as always, F the F'in Nationals.
  20. G-Fafif had a good note about Monday's PHI starter Matt (Not Mandy) Moore while contrasting him to Max Scherzer, who the Mets should have faced on Thursday: [bLOCKQUOTE]... [O]ne steamy night in 2013 they were teammates in different uniforms. Scherzer of the Tigers started, Moore of the Rays relieved. Neither gave up a run. That was the All-Star Game at Citi Field. 21. You can make changes every day and add/drop four players per week.

Fuck 'em all. But how do you feel about the Nationals? Fuck 'em. bmfc1, you should really work on not keeping things all bottled up! Let it out! lol
  23. I impressed and surprised. Well done. Perhaps it will go to LA as the Dodgers were supposed to host last year's game.
  24. I don't want to see the Mets having to make extra trips to that shithole. If needed, play them at CF, even if WSH is "home".
