As long as the runner who wsa on first doesn't wave his arms or commit any other obvious act of interference, it is perfectly legal for him to stand there. It's up to the fielder to throw around him, which is really no problem, for it's done all the time -- as on attempted pickoffs. Remember, a good first baseman knows how to stretch for the ball. Smart baseball? It isn't dumb. If irish the Irishman had been right and I was wrong I would have seriously considered moving to Canada. You know people get in trouble for saying such things during election time , eh?

The Princess Bride gets my vote , I liked both well enough. I can watch Mandy Patinkin in just about anything. Loved him in Chicago Hope and was rooting for that show big time over ER back in the day.

I loved BHC , I didn't know Murphy from SNL as I never saw that show growing up , just loved his character and attitude , now it would no doubt annoy me.

I think the runner on first must make an attempt to run(Go) to second , I do not think the runner has the right to not run towards second.

Finally I watched this today on HBO in HD. Maybe because I have heard so much about it down the years I was expecting something more , it was watchable and certainly darker that I expected . I also thought Drew Barrymore was the main star and was surprised to see it was the boy. 3.5 stars from me .

Six games out were the Mets if memory serves. I searched the old board for any threads form that trade but it's near impossible to narrow down a search over there.
