  1. ] Television In the United States, ESPN and the MLB Network will share the rights, with ESPN carrying the semi-finals and final. MLB Network will launch January 1st 2009 ] Carriage The network has signed contracts with 36 cable and satellite carriers.[5] In a deal that may be copied by other sports league owned channels, MLB tied carriage of the MLB Network to the ability to carry the popular out of market MLB Extra Innings package. In return, cable and satellite providers were offered a minority share of the new network.
  2. Rays manager switches starters for game five. Kazmir will start and not Shields.
  3. And that's the point bmfc.....these "things to do "can help all the teams achieve what they want. Ray and Phillies must not get too excited.. shouldn't look past this next game remember what got them here
  4. It will have a different format this year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_World_Baseball_Classic Format The 2006 tournament consisted of 16 national teams initially divided into four pools. In an attempt to avoid the kind of convoluted tiebreaking procedures the World Baseball Classic rules committee instituted for the inaugural 2006 tournament, the round-robin format will be replaced in 2009 by double-elimination to move teams beyond the first two rounds. Also unlike 2006, there will be a crossover of teams from their second-round pools to the semifinals; the winner of each second-round pool will face the runner-up of the other. The winners of the semifinals then meet to determine the World Baseball Classic champion.
  5. Things the Sox can do to get back in this series.....please add to these tasks. Have fun , be loose hit their pitches , on the flip side the Sox pitchers need to make their pitches keep the hitters of balance work the count get the lead off man on , although only he himself can do that have fun guys...
  6. Couldn't help yerself huh?
  7. One more thing while I'm here. I won't miss TBS when this series in done with. I know some here have no time for pre-game stuff but the TBS one is even worse than the usual tripe. Dennis Eckersley and Cal Ripken with the terrible Ernie Johnson. Now, why would TBS have Craig Sager explain the nuances of the knuckleball when you have Ron Darling in the booth?
  8. Yes they are , in fact I think that would be a great series. Tampa are pretty much a complete team. I would give them the edge in pitching , starting and bullpen , hitting might be closer but overall I would think Tampa will win.
  9. Not a fun series to watch at all , Tampa are just too good for the Sox. I won't miss Fuck Martinez in the booth either.
  10. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Betcha million dollars Willie Randoplh will replace him. Can he if he is being paid by the Mets. In England when that happens to a manager they call it "gardening leave".
  11. I thought Anderson was through with the mets , forgot that Minaya picked of the scrap heap during the 07 season and then signed him for two years after that season. If Anderson did anything good last season it was show some leadership with his wins plan.
  12. No problem , you're still my Netflix BFF.
  13. I was really looking forward to this but found myself very bored forty minutes in , disappointing.
  14. No , but I have now added it to my queue.
  15. TBS hyped Lester to the gills during the pre-game and in the first innings , it was way over the top stuff , yes Lester is a good story but when you start digging up silly stats that place Lester in the company of Christy Mathewson and Waite Hoyt then you are asking for trouble. IIRC and I think I am then the stat stated that Lester has pitched 19+ scoreless innings in this post-season so far....not that he has not been scored on in his first 19 post-season innings but his last 19....it was silly.
  16. If I were a Dodgers fan , which I am I suppose in this series then I am worried that Chan Ho Park is being asked to get important outs. Not signaling him out for this game just the fact that he is there at all.
  17. Added to the queue .
  18. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Yeah, I'm stoopid about movies, so it's been good makin' movie pals. A little embarrassing when I queue up stupid shit, but my friends won't judge me, right? Right? I'm saying nothing about "P.S. I love you"
  19. I clicked the link and got this - Error verifying the customer. Did you copy the URL correctly? I can be added here http://www.netflix.com/BeMyFriend/P8ot3TDdgolHMvblvRJ5
  20. Queued it ....looks good. Anyone else here have Netflix , Seo and I give each other recommendations , kind of cool actually. you add friends through email.

  22. That just does not sound like our David Wright , perhaps Molly has cultured him.
  23. Beltran this past season may well have played the best CF of his career when you consider who was out there with him , he covered everything. I don't care if they pick up all his remaining salary and Cano's I still do not want to make this deal.
  24. sharpie wrote: Rob Neyer wrote about it today. I don't get ESPN Insider so I don't know what he said about it, however. ] OK, just for fun There's one simple reason why the Mets won't (or rather, shouldn't) make a deal like this: If you trade a great player and don't get a great player back, you lose the deal. Carlos Beltran is a great player. Year in and year out, he's one of the best players in the National League. Jose Veras (or Brian Bruney) is not a great player. Ian Kennedy is not a great player, nor likely to become great. "Another prospect" might be decent someday, but also is not likely to be great. Which leaves Robinson Cano, who's not as bad as you think. You probably know that Cano was a huge disappointment this season. But that's almost completely because of the season's first five weeks. From May 4 through the end of the season, Cano batted .300/.327/.452 right in line with his .303/.335/.468 career numbers. Cano turns 26 in a couple of weeks, and we expect him to improve some as hitter over the next two or three years. His defensive numbers have been all over the map, but I think it's safe to assume he'll never be a great fielder. Beltran is six years older than Cano. Two or three years from now, Cano might actually be better than Beltran. But if you're the Mets, having just come off two terribly crushing seasons, are you going to wait two or three years for a trade to pay off?
  25. Cano seems like a total jerk , and in his own words he plays hard "99 percent of the time" ... more importantly I would like to keep Beltran.
