  1. 2004 will go down as Duquette's annus horribilis.
  2. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Blues Brothers bored me to death Me too , i hated it then and can't stand it now.
  3. I remember Duquette saying something like he slept on the advice he got and woke up early (6am) and had a good feeling about the deal so he pulled the trigger.
  4. Die Hard for me , Alan Rickman was great in that movie.
  5. ] I watched the whole thing. I couldn't , it was all I could take to watch six innings of Kazmir . An overwhelming sense of loss overtook me watching him dominate the Red Sox.
  6. Did Kazmir not start the 7th inning , I left the game after watching him get through the 6th with not a lot of stress.
  7. Willets Point wrote: Everyone who's gone to bed and/or "not interested in watching" is missing a good game. An AL-stlye, long-ass game, but a good one nonetheless. That was me , got to say I am stunned reading the IGT this morning , not over yet.
  8. Kazmir is utterly dominating the Sox.
  9. Buck Martinez on facing Dice-K " see your pitch and square up to it" Ron Darling " wait for your pitch and hit it"...
  10. Whats with the actual hole in the pitchers mound?
  11. I think Tony Bernazard will be a crucial voice in this , if he stays with the Mets then I think he will be the voice advocating for a Texiera and not letting Minya do what CF thinks he will do.
  12. We've competed against them before and walked away with the man , plus Minaya has a good relationship with Boras. I expect Jeff to be showing Tex the delights of the NY Metropolitan area soon.
  13. AG/DC wrote: Well, he'll certanly have his option picked up. True , my bad as there is a difference to what I meant.
  14. Minaya has stated that Delgado will be back if that means anything.
  15. All options will be pursued by Minaya , just how hard he would go on Tex is the question.
  16. Great song edgy , a blast form the past.
  17. Great pictures , thanks soup.
  18. I was going to ask whatever became of Peter Weller but he's doing just fine. From his Wiki bio Weller holds a Masters Degree in Roman and Renaissance art, and is an occasional lecturer at Syracuse University on the subjects of Hollywood and the Roman Empire.[citation needed] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Weller
  19. Out of the polls so far this was the one that I struggled with, I remember enjoying both these movies.
  20. I would like to know once and for all how many members here still pine for Kazmir when they see him now for Tampa , are you as has been suggested hoping he gets lit up as some sort of revenge or something silly like that. I suspect a poll here would show that most of us have moved on and can watch the kid pitch without cursing him or the Mets.
  21. Dodgers down 3 - 0 and Tore pulls his starter in the 3rd , enough of that though , get this. When Vivtorino came up for his first AB it was the cue for Ken Rosenthal to tell us how the Phillies police themselves , after Victorino hit the grand-slam off CC in the ALDS he ran the bases arm pumping with glee and after the game the other players stuck pictures of him doing that on his locker with J Reyes written on them. The point was not to show up the other team like Reyes does.
  22. Heh , wonder if he'll get tight like the 2005 yankees.
  23. Would you please put it in the coaches thread , I don't have such powers. (Merged from Nats Coaches (split from Baserunning), 10/15/2008)
  24. FWIW Ken Davidoff today says that the Nationals are interested in Randolph as either their bench coach or third base coach. ] Here's a duo of National League East events that could happen -- without dramatically stretching reality -- in the next year: 1. The Nationals get off to a poor start in 2009 and fire manager Manny Acta, replacing him with their third-base coach Willie Randolph. 2. The Mets miss the 2009 playoffs and fire manager Jerry Manuel, replacing him with Acta. Midweek Insider has learned that the Nationals, who fired five coaches upon the conclusion of the 2008 season, are interested in hiring Randolph as either Acta's bench coach or third-base coach. Randolph is due $2.25 million from the Mets in 2009, but friends say he is anxious to get back to work, as he very much wants to manage again. He'll probably wait out the Seattle and Milwaukee situations, to make sure he doesn't miss an opportunity to interview for a managerial opening. Randolph has interviewed with the Brewers twice and enjoys a strong relationship with Milwaukee general manager Doug Melvin. If those teams choose other managers, Randolph might very well join the Nationals. And that would be a situation fraught with irony. For during Randolph's three-plus years leading the Mets, it was Acta who served as his greatest threat. Acta coached third base under Randolph in 2005 and 2006, and everyone knew Acta was Omar Minaya's hire, rather than Randolph's. When Acta left the Mets to manage Washington, he maintained such a good relationship with the Mets that team officials have often lined up to hug him prior to Mets-Nationals games
