  1. Shoot , yeah that's bedtime here too for the kid......
  2. I didn't want to be that guy either but 8:30 works better......
  3. Are you the salty Jew? live draft was a lot of fun last season......it was all down hill for me after that.

Frayed Knot wrote: When it started it had all the makings of one of those films/TV shows that thinks a loud, dysfunctional, and constantly arguing family is funny as long as said family is [insert ethnicity here]. Didn't realize that was Garcia's daughter. Good point , it could easily have been that.
  5. The Rizzo family out in City Island in the Bronx are all living a life of lies that begin to unravel when Vince (Andy Garcia) brings home a parolee to the family home with little explanation to his family or to the Tony the con. Andy Garcia is excellent as Vinnie, Julianna Margulies as his wife and Garcia's real life daughter as his movie daughter. We really liked this comedy drama , maybe part of it was the familiar scenes , City Island is down the road, but the acting here is great and the way the truths start to come out really made this great. Highly recommended .
  6. The Wayne True Grit os doing the rounds on AMC lately , I did DVR it a few weeks ago but it clocked in at three hours and I didn't have the heart for that.
  7. Eh is such a put down too, being doing that a lot lately Edgy.
  8. Not being a prick here but I heard Bridges say on the radio yesterday that they made a movie from the book and didn't remake Wayne's movie, apparently that was a big distinction for Bridges and the Coen's.
  9. It was OK to decent, I'd give it a 7 if I could so I'll give a four instead. Ben Affleck I think is underrated at directing and acting , I like him , not as good as Gone Baby Gone.

  11. It's very annoying .....glad to see that other people don't care for it because growing up it seemed everyone that ever talked abut it loved the damn thing.

Is there a thread for that one yet. Probably not but start one......we saw it not long ago...loved it.....nothing beats the kid getting so excited at telling you things about dinosaurs that you need to pause the movie....Sullivan Bluth Studios out of Ireland.....they were great , not sure if they are still around.
  13. Too much misery , I mean I am rooting for her just to get through a half a day without getting abused by someone....great performances though.
  14. Watched this again this evening, I am telling you all with young kids to get this.
  15. If Toy Story 3 doesn't win Best Picture the whole concept falls apart. Please ensure that it does , whoever ensures such things...the ensurers?
  16. From UMDB A single mother, with dreams of becoming a writer, has a son at the age of 15 in 1965, and goes through a failed marriage with the drug-addicted father. Gotta say I enjoyed this more than I would have thought. There is something about flashback movies to the 60's/70's.... A very solid cast and Steve Zahn I thought was great as the loser husband and father, so good that he makes Ray a loser that you are constantly rooting for....Barrymore in a good role here too.....a little on the sentimental side but it would be hard not to be. As an aside.......there are scenes shot in City Island that are meant to be somewhere in CT......at least I think so anyway....
  17. In several top ten of 2010 lists , will wait for it on cable.....
  18. The wife and son watched this Saturday and liked it a lot..
  19. Edgy DC wrote: It was bad worth celebrating, though. The coach was the most worthwhile part to me. I thnk all free throws should be taken with the guy who just fouled you staring at you threateningly from under the hoop. You know that guy was Mike Piazza, right? I wonder if a then 17 year old Piazza got the piss taken out of him for looking like that guy.
  20. Looking at the list of actors I don't think any of them went on to be household names except Fox of course. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090142/
  21. I remember actually liking this as a 13 or 14 year old, anyway it was on cable yesterday and I watched it....the Fox to werewolf special effects hold up well.......the basketball is still crap and features nothing special on defense. Fox plays the average Joe type pining for the popular girl whose dating the jock form a different school and rival basketball team, his team sucks of course and at this rate he'll never get the girl... nothing like a family curse to turn things around....long story short Fox turns werewolf and fuck it instead of hiding it he flaunts it and all of a sudden he's Chris Mullin out there....the team goes from last to first , some terrible 80's music features here in the basketball scenes, no one really thinks it's odd that a student turns in to a werewolf in this town.....Wolfie wins the girl buuuuuuuuuuuuut......is blind to the affections of his best friend Boof who has always loved him.....Some Kind of Wonderful?......did Hughes steal from this? The ending is not to be missed as Fox refuses to play the biggest game of the season against the jerks team as a werewlf.... dammit he's going to beat them as his true self...cue bad music and even worse basketball...the basketball scenes in this movie are so bad they really stick out.........speaking of sticking out....I couldn't help but notice only the most token of token black persons in this movie .....a movie that could loosely be seen as talking about treating people who look different with respect yyybbb it features nothing but white people..
  22. I'll give it a six.....this is a classic case of the movie suffers from reading the rather excellent book..... Dennis Lehane just writes brilliantly and weaves a great tale....Scorsese gets lost along the way....still, I think as endings go it might satisfy.

We landed in Heathrow, spent a day in London, headed up to Scotland, then down through the Lake District and the north of Wales, ferried to Dublin, spent a full day there, drove to the Stud Farm in Kildare and then Cashell Rock, did the Ring of Kerry, went to Blarney Castle and Waterford Crystal, ferried back to Wales, saw Castle Cardiff, the city of Bath, Stonehenge, and then back to London. Exhausting, but awesome. We lucked out because the one fully clear day was for the Ring of Kerry, so we got some great shots (including Dingle Bay and a view of the Skelligs from our bus). I wish we could have seen more of Dublin, but it was the halfway point of our trip and we needed to get laundry done. We did get to Kilmainham Gaol at least, along with Dublin Castle. CIE did the whole tour including the UK?......what price if you don't mind me asking for you both, I am seriously considering doing a CIE tour when I take my wife and son for a few reasons, mostly because it basically plans your trip and makes you go places.

  25. I'm putting you down Edgy as a solid to watch this with your wife....good man you are ....no excuses now like with Hunger.
