I wonder why every system doesn't have three knuckleballers at any given time. Peter Gammons was saying yesterday in the 'Fan that after Wakefields initial success in the 90's some teams did in fact try and develop knuckeballers but for all the things listed above it just isn't easy.
  2. I would have phrased it thus If you were to water-board GM Sandy Alderson , hed tell you he had no such thoughts when this season began, as he goes about trying to build the foundation for long-term contention in the future.
  3. The article is worth reading btw.

  5. Yeah, it was an excellent read http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/27/sports/baseball/the-former-met-bob-ojeda-relives-both-glory-and-pain.html?pagewanted=all

  7. Buck was pissed in his post game when asked about Dickey , not at R.A. but that his team got shutout.

  15. Fonzie looks great , I think he is one of those players that with the passage of time he is more and more appreciated for the player he was and person he is.(not that he wasn't appreciated)
  16. Yeah I doubt they buy him out and I think I would be surprised to see him playing again this season, and I am sad to say I would be fine with that, it sucks that I think that way, all the best for his health now and in the future.
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: As Howie & Josh were saying on the radio the other night, this bobblehead actually looks like its subject. Howie, in particular, was being quite emphatic. 'I defy ANYONE to name a single bobblehead in the HISTORY OF BOBBLEHEADS that looks as good as this one!!' that is so Howie .
  18. Great report , at least you enjoyed somewhat.
  19. It was very ugly , the booing was also ugly.

  22. saw this the other day, just to keep things current NEW YORK (AP) The New York Mets say that 1-800-Flowers founder Jim McCann has purchased a minority stake in the team. The team has been selling limited partner shares for $20 million each. Comedian and TV host Bill Maher bought one, too. The Mets' owners sought to raise cash after they were sued by the trustee seeking to recover money for victims of the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme. In March, Mets owners Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz reached an agreement with the trustee for Madoff's fraud victims, averting a high-profile civil trial.
  23. I guess when Jeff opined about diversity in their portfolio he meant stuff like this.
