  2. Niese is much more valuable to about 25 other teams than he is to the Mets right now. With Herrera on the horizon, I'd rather not be paying Zobrist an eight figure salary for the end of his career.
  3. Adam Rubin wrote: The Mets appear to have pivoted to Walker after striking out in their attempt to land Ben Zobrist. I vastly prefer one year of Walker to four years of an aging Zobrist. I don't see any way that this trade would not trump signing Zobrist as the better move for the Mets both in the short term and the long.
  4. I have no love for the Wilpons and wish for them to shake every last nickel out of their wallets to get this team a championship or three before the pitching leaves. Still, I think too many fans believe that the primary goal for sports team owners is winning a championship. Like any other business, they are in it to make money. Yes, typically, winning it all leads to cash, but the two are not mutually exclusive.
  5. I'd jump at Niese for Walker. I'm fine with Colon coming back until Wheeler is ready, too.
  6. More wins than any of our other starters over the past two years...and it's not really even close. I actually prefer him to Niese, assuming Wheeler's recovery is not delayed.
  7. Centerfield wrote: What will they do now? Pussy out and try to justify Gerardo Parra? Or go big again. We'll see. Personally, I'd rather have Parra for the next 3-4 years (with more flexibility to make other moves) than be tied up with Zobrist heading into his twilight.
  8. Zona's pitching staff is now oodles better than it was a few weeks ago.
  9. I'm of the opinion that if the Mets are going to lock up a SS with a track record, it needs to be a sure thing. There are a glut of SS maturing in the Mets' minor league system that I would not want to block long term. I'm not opposed to riding Wilmer until one of them is ready.

  11. Pre-ordered. Can't hardly wait.
  12. I'd tell him to enjoy DC if they're willing to give him $20M per for his late thirties. I don't want any part of that.
  13. LOL...I can probably get everyone a small discount if you visit us in Wisconsin.
  14. Poop. Like I said, I didn't look that hard...I actually may not have noticed until after the deadline had passed. It was only a dollar.
  15. If we need another owner, I say bring him aboard! Not for nothing, I accidentally gave an arb raise to Jenrry Mejia last month. I didn't mean to, but didn't see a way to correct the error once completed (granted, I didn't look horribly hard). Maybe the same thing happened to Weeks.
  16. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Wait... You own a toy store? Holy crap! Yeah! We purchased back in June and it's really my wife's baby...I just peek at the sales numbers from time to time. 17. Mr. Met and the Coke polar bear are supposed to be attending the NYSE stock bell ringing on Monday, indicating deal with Coke in the offing. Met sponsor-sellers are busy: Got email last week that the club will announce deets shortly of the 2016 Mr. Met Kids Club Presented by Melissa & Doug. Those 2 couldn't be bothered to present shit the last couple of years. My wife and I bought the mom and pop toy store in town here earlier this year (I guess that makes us the mom and pop). We've got oodles of Melissa & Doug merch. I'll be interested to see what the relationship is.
  18. Diamondbacks show off the eight (8!) uniforms they'll use for 2016. Blood red and turquoise? My, oh my.
  19. Bench coach Bob Geren departs Mets for Dodgers Geren takes the same job on the other coast. Place your bets now on who becomes the Mets' bench coach.
  20. BOC!
  21. Since the mid-80s, I've just assumed that ALL Mets players were coke fiends. SC= 99.4% pure.

  23. Frayed Knot wrote: OK, so let's put it out there then: If you were to trade Harvey this winter, What Player would you want back in a Straight Up deal? Jose Altuve
  24. Yup. This was the easter egg image during his show's opening sequence on 10/11/15:
  25. I agree that bringing in O'Day and hanging on to Reed and Blevins is the way to go. I'm on the fence about Mejia....leaning toward hanging on to him. I also think the bullpen will be Montero's eventual permanent landing area.
