  1. Milwaukee coming back after being down 4-0. That's something they have rarely been able to do much of this year. Let's see if they can pull off the win now that it's tied.
  2. KC and Baltimore can now officially plan their October vacation plans.
  3. I'm calling the Marlins in the wildcard race. They technically have a magic number of 3, but due to the remaining schedules of the Rockies, Padres and Dodgers, there is no possible scenario of outcomes where they can win.
  4. I was just copying Yancy. I wanted to give Castillo something, but I'm anti-fractions for Schaefer.
  5. Perez 4 Wright 2 Heilman 1 Wagner 1 Reyes 1 Beltran 1
  6. Phils win 6-5 in ten. Grr.
  7. Milwaukee skunked 9-0 in Pittsburgh. Ouch.
  8. I guess it's just going to have to be that much more heartbreaking for them when they lose.
  9. Pudge has a $13M club option for next year with a $3M buyout.
  10. ="attgig"]green could be a decent utility guy, but after paying him 10+ this year, i just feel bad keeping him around and throwing more excess $$ at him. Actually, when Green was traded from Arizona he had $12.75M remaining on his contract for the remainder of '06 and '07. Arizona kicked in $6.3M towards that amount. So the Mets as a team have only paid $6.45M to Green for this year and a month of last year. The Mets were left with the $10M option for '08 with a $2M buyout. I feel there are far more pieces that need to fall into place before the Mets know whether they should commit another $8M to Green: -Is Moises' option picked up? If so, it could make Green redundant...especially if the regular outfield is going to be Beltran, Gomez and Milledge next year. Alou's option is cheaper than Green's and he's going to provide more offense if he's healthy. -Is Castillo resigned? If not, is Gotay going to be the starting 2B in 2008? If so, is Valentin's option going to be picked up? Not that Green will play second, but if Alou, Castillo and Valentin are all gone next year, the Mets got really young really fast. My guess is they will stick with 2 of the 3 2B, but you never know. -What is Delgado's problem? If Delgado's offensive problems are mental, then that's one thing, but if it is physical either through injury or decline, then that's another. To be perfectly honest, with the way Delgado has played this year, I feel the lineup is just as potent with Green playing first and Milledge/Endy in RF at this moment in time. Not that Delgado won't eventually get back to his old form and maybe even soon, but I have this sinking feeling that Delgado is hurt more severely than he or the club is letting on...who knows if he'll need offseason surgery with rehab time or how much time he may miss next year due to nagging injuries like he's out with now. Green could serve as a backup at 1B as well as the OF. -Who's catching next year? Loduca seems all but gone. Castro seems to go on the DL for long periods of time each year. The FA catching market is thin. Again, like with 2B, Green is not going to catch. But it's another postion where we may be starved for offense next year if it and other positions go down with injury. The only non-question marks next year are Beltran, Wright and Reyes. In my mind all of the other offensive positions have issues. Some are more positive questions than others (Milledge/Gomez), but some are glaring (Delgado, 2B, C). Green could provide some consistent insurance should the Millegde/Gomez/Delgado questions go the wrong way.
  11. I don't really have a rooting interest in the wildcard. As far as matchups go for the Mets, I would like to see them play a team from the NL Central in a short series in the NLDS, which means the Phillies would need to win the WC. I would feel very nervous about facing San Diego's starting pitching in a 5 game series. LA or Colorado would be OK, but tougher than the Brewers.
  12. Cleveland's win Sunday night over the Angels eliminates Kansas City from the AL Central race. The White Sox's loss earlier in the day excludes them from any playoff consideration in 2007. Baltimore and KC sit with wildcard elimination numbers of 1 and 2 respectively, but will live to fight until at least Tuesday because of the short schedule on Monday.
  13. Martinez 3 Beltran 3 Wagner 1 Alou 1 Feliciano 1 Heilman 1
  14. Sweep. Lovin' it.
  15. You are correct FK.
  16. Mmmm...roller derby.
  17. Jiminy Christmas.
  18. I like Alou. KABOOM!
  19. Washington takes the lead on ATL 4-3 in the 6th. Philly adds a couple more and lead Florida 7-0 in the 3rd.
  20. That's right folks, 5 shutout innings. I'll take it.
  21. Philly is up 5-0 on Florida in the top of the 2nd. Atlanta is up 3-1 over Washington at the end of 4. Milwaukee is trouncing Cincinnati 8-1 in the top of the 4th. Rickie Weeks and Ryan Braun with 2 HRs each. JJ Hardy is 3-3 with a HR. Chicago and Pittsburgh are tied at 2 in the bttom of the 2nd.
  22. I love DC. Go Skins.
  23. Nothing of much importance is free in hell.
  24. Glavine 5 Heiman 1 Wagner 1 Wright 1 Green 1 LoDuca 1
  25. White Sox eliminated from AL Central contention on Saturday and will be eliminated from the wildcard with a loss and a Yankee win on Sunday. Tampa Bay eliminated from the wildcard on Saturday. A Mets win and a Marlin loss on Sunday eliminates Florida from winning the NL East.
