  1. “Loyal” Brewer fans making me shake my head again. Re-embracing Ryan Braun after he cheated and then deliberately lied to them was one thing, but giving a racist homophobe a standing ovation for being discovered as a racist homophobe is stupifying.

  3. Yeah, anything is possible, but I would probably bet on "put a fork in him" over "better than ever". I think it would be foolish to rely on contributions from him before 2020 and even then, I doubt we will be getting anything close to 2015-16 Cespedes.
  4. He was nearly automatic in 2015...a big reason for the team’s ability to tread water when they couldn’t score runs in May through July. I wish I could forget some of the playoff woes.
  5. Here is my Incredibles 2 story: I took my five year old to see a 10:00AM showing on July 4th. We went early so we could participate in other holiday festivities and family get togethers. We got there at 10:00 sharp. Nothing in the theater happened until 10:10 when the room went dark and the movie started without previews. Except the movie playing was not Incredibles 2, it was the new Jurassic Park which opens with ominous music and dark imagery. Immediately, all of the parents with small children began picking them up and heading for the exits to avoid watching a nightmare inducing scene involving dinosaurs. After about 2 minutes, the screen froze and remained that way for another minute. Then the screen went black for another couple of minutes and we got a Wreck-It Ralph preview. I figured we were on the right track. After the one preview, the animated short that precedes Incredibles 2 began. Two minutes into the short, the screen froze but the audio kept going. After another two minutes a manger came into the theater, apologized profusely and said they would start again from the beginning of the short. So, then they started the short again and we got through that. Then the feature started and we got 10 or 15 minutes in when the screen froze again and the audio kept going. At that point, I asked my daughter if she wanted to stay or go and she was ready to go. We walked out to the manager telling us they had cleared out another theater and they were going to start the movie over again if we moved there. By now it was 11:00 and we had other things on the agenda for the day, so we took the free passes they offered us for another day and left. It looks like we are going to wait to see Incredibles 2 until it comes out on BluRay.

  8. The Mets are winless in the last 11 games I’ve attended. It’s not me, right?
  9. I hat baseball.
  10. Outside of the game outcomes, I thoroughly enjoyed Coors Field. I like Denver to begin with and I think they have done a great job sustaining a baseball stadium in the middle of downtown. I understand the reasons for building away from downtown, but I love being able to walk to the game. Granted, I’m coming from a hotel and parking might be a hassle for locals, but I think it is cool to turn a block and see a stadium appear out of nowhere. I had a club seat on Wednesday night, which allowed me to get several views from seats on the second level. I spent the most time all the way down the left field line and I could see everything from there. One of the things I found interesting about the club level is that they have plexiglass where their broadcast booth and TV control room is, so if you wanted, you could literally watch the control room in action for the game. I didn’t. Thursday was a day game and I had field level seats behind the plate. It got hot (low 80s) and the seats were in the sun for the game. Because Denver is not humid, the temps were bearable, though. During the middle of the game, I went up to the upper deck level. I tried to sneak up to take a pic at the purple line of seats denoting 5280 feet, but the usher denied me. There were a lot of kids from camps and teams up there for Thursday, so I guess he had his hands full. I should have tried it on Wednesday night when most of the upper deck was empty. After watching two games there, I consider Coors the best MLB park in which to view a game that I have been to. The atmosphere in the seats is pretty much exactly what I want from a baseball stadium. I felt the food and beer selections were redundant throughout the stadium and lacking in local flavor. I also felt like moving up and down levels was not as easy as in other ballparks I’ve visited. The fans were polite and engaging. I did see some great jerseys and was surprised at how many people were displaying non-Rockies/non-Mets gear. There were a lot of Cubs fans, a handful of White Sox fans, as well as individual Phillies, Rangers and Giants jerseys-wearing fans that I noticed. I mentioned in the IGT that my ticketed seat on Wednesday sat me between a Braves fan and a Yankees fan. Yikes! I saw a guy in a Cuddyer Twins jersey and the best of all was a guy in a powder blue Larry Walker Expos jersey. On the walk to the stadium, I even saw a guy in a Mike Hampton Rockies tshirt fake jersey! Jose Reyes took a little shit from the fans (as he probably should of), but on the whole, the fans were well behaved and good sports. The Mets are really hard to watch right now, and as I Mets-jersey-wearing-fan at Coors Field, I felt like I was getting a lot of pity looks from Rockie fans. Nolan Arenado is a beast. I know their bullpen has holes and they are under .500 right now, but that team has a lot of offensive talent. I’d root for the Rockies over many other MLB teams. Did I mention Arenado is awesome? Damn. Anyway, if you’re looking for a ballpark to visit, take a trip to Coors. I highly recommend it.

The StubHub gods put me between a Yankee fan and a Braves fan who wanted to talk to each other (even though I was between them) about anything baseball related EXCEPT for the Rockies or Mets. I moved all the way down the left field line into the last seat of the first row of the second level corner and have a nice empty cushion. There does not look to be a bad seat in this joint. The Rox fans seem a bit aloof and the food selection is not top notch, but the baseball watching experience is pretty great. And now, Blackmon goes yard. Shit.
  12. I got done with my thing in Denver early today and bought a cheap ticket to this one. I'll be one of the guys rooting for the blue and orange in a sea of purple.

  14. 41Forever wrote: I don't understand the calls to blow up the team. It's going through a horrible stretch, but it's also lost its all-world outfielder and Opening Day starter to injuries, along with a host of others.. This was one of the excuses last year and the team has has its share of injuries both in 2017 and 2018. However, if the best players can’t stay on the field and/or if the rest of the team can’t tread water while the stars are on the mend, then it is my opinion that the team is not going to be good enough.
  15. deGrom is by far the best piece we have to move and would be the most attractive to suitors. I'd want a haul back, but I'm not opposed to moving him. His talent is wasted on this team. If they can't compete, they might as well get something for him.
  16. I'll be in Denver next week, so I bought a seat for the Thursday gay dame against the Rox. My personal attendance Mets losing streak is up to nine going back to 2016. I'm not terribly confident that I'll break the streak, but I'm still hopeful.
  17. Seems like a lost cause.
  18. I would love to build around deGrom and Noah (as well as Conforto, Nimmo and even Rosario). But, I'll echo that the Bruce, Frazier and Vargas moves were bad ones considering that SS, 1B and C had no reliable options for 2018 and will still be question marks in 2019. Sandy keeps constructing rosters that can win if EVERYTHING goes right. This season had big potential if Matz, Wheeler and/or Harvey could have gotten their shit together, if Rosario and/or Smith were ready to be an everyday and every at-bat threat, if Cespedes, Thor, d'Arnuad, etc. could stay healthy. But I think we all knew at the beginning of the season that the likelihood of ALL of that happening would be minuscule. I, for one, am not surprised at all that after 60 games the 2018 Mets have the same record as the 2017 Mets. They were essentially built the same way. And, hey, it worked in 2015 with some major help at the deadline - but I don't feel it is a sustainable model for success. I haven't seen any sign that 2019 will be any better and feel like we are wasting good seasons from deGrom instead of taking advantage of them.

  20. If they take Kelenic, I'll head to Waukesha for the CPF exclusive interview. I missed in the opening post that I was supposed to scout this dude. FWIW, I've never heard of him.

I'm watching Season 5 of Arrested Development and, of course, there is a slight (but accurate) reference to Solo during Episode 3. Thanks, Ron Howard!

I thought it was good fun...maybe the most "fun" SW film ever since it mostly bypassed the weighty light/dark/Empire/Rebellion narrative. Ehrenreich did a fine job making the character his own and not just a Harrison Ford impression. The surprise at the end was certainly a nod to the cartoon/comic fans. I thought it was pretty bold and interesting. I'm not in a rush to see it again anytime soon, but it was enjoyable all the same.
  24. The Mets are now winless in the last 9 games I’ve seen them play in person. I’m thinking of canceling my trip to Denver in June to see them...but then again, the streak has to be broken at some point, right? Ugh.
