  1. I think the Phillies have the best shot of beating the Yanks if they make it to the WS, so maybe that's where some of the Philly love is coming from. But, I voted for the Cards.
  2. A lot of ex-Met catchers on that list....and every letter of the alphabet represented.
  3. Sometimes, this is like going to a grocery store. Youve got a list until you get to the check-out stand. And then you start reading People magazine, and all this other crap ends up in the basket. Nice.
  4. Beltran led the team in RBIs too. Amazing.
  5. Braun takes high road on Reyes' decision (Quotes before last night's game) The Wisconsin State Journal wrote: "I don't think my opinion really matters about what the ethics of it are," Braun said. "I respect whatever decision he decided to make. Ultimately, he left the door open for me. It's not impossible. I've gotten three hits in a game plenty of times. It's still attainable. It's still a possibility. If he had stayed in the game and gotten multiple hits, it may not have been a possibility at all. I respect whatever decision he decided to make. I'm not really here to judge him." Reyes is being criticized for bunting his way on as well, but once again Braun chose to take the high road when asked about the relatively cheap hit. "That's a part of his game," Braun said. "I don't fault him for that. I can never fault him for trying to get a hit. That's what he does. He's fast, he's an exciting player and I bet you he's gotten plenty of bunt hits this year. I don't think it's anything that's out of the ordinary. I don't think there's anything wrong with that."
  6. In theory, I would root for the Brewers, but their fan base is...all around me. I think if the Brewers won the WS 9 months after the Packers won the SB, my head would explode from the cheesehead giddiness.
  7. What a completely unnecessary article. How many batting titles does Jeter have again?
  8. Edgy DC wrote: It's like the Mets season being on the line and Chin-lung Hu at the plate, while definsible choices like Angel Pagan or even Jason Pridie sit on the bench. Except, Hu would have hit a comebacker to the mound.
  9. I'm rooting for Texas.
  10. Braun 0 for 3. Point moot. Even if Jose played the whole game and never got another hit, he'd still be champion. I'd rather be going to the playoffs.
  11. Obnoxious is an understatement. I'm not sure why he was even there...all he did was shit on the Mets.
  12. June 7th, Miller Park, top of the 7th: Jose Reyes Triple to CF (Fly Ball to Deep CF); Thole Scores; Pridie Scores, Mets win the game 2-1. Memorable for me because I was there.
  13. Him asking out and then bunting for a single seems very douchey. This is the type of attitude that leads me to believe he can be bought by the highest bidder this winter.
  14. Per Metsblog, Terry said Jose asked before the game to be taken out if he got a hit, and so Collins met that request, because he deserves that respect. However, Collins says he felt terrible about the move, knowing fans paid good money to see him play. I respect the game enough to know people came here to see Jose Reyes, Collins explained. According to Collins, he felt he earned the respect of his players this summer, and to not repay that respect by ignoring Joses request could jeopardize what was built.
  15. Batisa 6 Baxter 3 Evans 1

  17. May, June and July featured the most enjoyable Mets baseball I have experienced since 2006. The rest of the season was mostly "blah". Hats off to Reyes and Beltran, two of the greatest Mets to ever wear the blue and orange. They both had great seasons and I'll miss Jose if he doesn't come back. Get well Ike, Murph and Johan. I hope you're all ready for Opening Day 2012. Loved the youth movement of Tejada, Duda, Turner, and Thole. With other talent still to come in the minors, there's something to look forward to. Here's to a helathly and productive offseason that will give us even more hope for 2012 and beyond. Also, thanks to the CPF, who as always gives me an outlet to use so I can root along with other fans of my team. It means a lot to a guy who is so far away from the local fanbase.
  18. Even if Reyes would have gone 1 for 4, Braun would still need a 2 for 3 or 2 for 4 to win. Let's see how close he gets.
  19. KABOOM! Mike Baxter...1st ML HR!
  20. By and by...Batista is tossing a pretty good game.
  21. Francesa says he's now rooting for Braun.
  22. David done after a hit, too. Goddammit, I need a win to beat Vic in the Prediction contest.
  23. Benjamin Grimm wrote: What Terry did today was classless and gutless, but you know what? I still want Jose to win that batting title. This. Fuck Braun. He's playing for something REAL tonight...and he'll be playing this weekend, has a chance to win an MVP and possibly a ring. If he goes 3 for 3, I'll applaud him. But he's got so much more to play for than a batting title.
