  1. Update - we got a replacement owner for TM's team, so I think there's still one vacancy.
  2. Ceets seems to have taken a long break from here, but my homie does wanna join the ottoneu league. I'll get his fangraphs account info and message Ceetar.
  3. Speaking of imaginary baseball teams, I have a friend who would join the Ottoneu league for 2k19, if additional peeps are still needed. He's a very smart dude, good sense of humor, and likes the right baseball team in real life.
  4. The more leagues, the merrier. I'd play, too.
  5. This was the best Disney movie I’ve seen in ages
  6. Just read about this film yesterday and it's showing in a real limited run around the country (only 1 day in my city), so wanted to share in case anyone was interested. https://www.fathomevents.com/events/they-shall-not-grow-old It's a Peter Jackson World War I documentary. It used insanely restored and colorized original video to tell some of these stories. The reviews are amazing and the trailer... [youtube:1k56u6zs]9-NRsMViJ88[/youtube:1k56u6zs]
  7. I can't quit Dale. Checked his Twitter yesterday to see if any hints of more pro baseball in his future, but it looks like for now he's just enjoying the end of his little brother's esteemed, Al Bundy-like football career. I'll keep one good eye on Dale, just in case.
  8. I've got a smart and committed fantasy player (Met fan, as well), who said he would be happy to take an open slot.
  9. My responses are gonna be kinda lame, but I'm ok either way. I thought last year's boat race format was fine and didn't really miss the playoffs. If it's the will of the group, then playoffs are cool by me, too. Same with the moolah. If we're already pumping $20, then a few extra buck$ to make it worthwhile might be cool.

  11. I'm not clear how to actually throw around the money? This site is sadly not super intuitive.

He took his lumps last year (grabbing an abandoned team, IIRC), but he took full advantage of all the unspent money he had coming into this season. I'm running Pawnee like Leslie Knope.
  13. Congrats Rougned's Odor on the boat-race win! I think you moved into first a month or two ago and just kept steady pace. It was a spirited battle for the other 2 medal positions. Looks like a few more ABs/innings today to shore up 2nd and 3rd. Cool league, cool format. Thanks for letting me crash again this year.
  14. Yeah with the season this far over, I wonder if he found out in-person, or if he got a phone call? Imagine the one thing you've been working at since you were probably 5 years old now gone. Good luck to you, Dale! Go be the best slow-pitch softball player in the entire state of Tennessee!
  15. 5 seasons of professional baseball for Dale Burdick. Cut today by the Mets. Maybe he plays indie ball somewhere? Maybe he gets a real job like the rest of us stiffs. Either way, bravo, young man.
  16. Pretty much a lost season for my mini-David Wright adoptee. Broken hand pretty much wiped his season and he finished with a .708 OPS in only 73 PA (22 games) at AAA Vegas. Looks like he got a measly 3 games at Brooklyn before the season ended. Heal fast, my dude. Winter league action starting soon.
  17. Dale Burdick just completed his fifth season of professional baseball. He hit a Burdickian .170/.284/.284 (.568 OPS) in 205 PA at St. Lucie before going hitless in Vegas, putting up this uniquely awesome line at AAA: .000/.429/.000 (.429 OPS). He finished 11 PA shy of 1,000 for his professional career. His career batting line is now: .193/.306/.309 (.615). I don't know what the future holds for my dude. He turns 23 in October, a youngin' by any standard except single-A professional baseball prospect. Not sure what the team could reasonably expect from him at AA, but I hope he gets another shot next year, or just Crash Davises another year at St. Lucie. Something. Go, Dale, Go.
  18. I just checked my Grays Sports Almanac to get some end-of-season stats, and it looks like we may have a baller on our hands. First pro season complete, Tommy threw 22 innings in relief for Brooklyn, he gave up only 13 hits and K'd 27 (1.23 ERA, 11.0 K/9). Given his advanced age for A ball (22, 23 next May), I'm calling a St.Lucie/Binghamton double-feature next season for him. Have one last look at him in a Brooklyn uni:
  19. Nice! A trade! MOAR TRADEZ!!
  20. Good Q! This is a shot from the Cafe 80s in 2015 Hill Valley (BTTF2), so pop culture icons from the decade, but I have no idea who. Green hat bearded guy Yakov Smirnoff?
  21. Griff Tannen, AKA Tommy Wilson, is the grandson of Biff Tannen, and according to Dr. Emmett Brown, he has bionic implants, which give him enhanced strength and may or may not be legal in professional baseball. Tommy Wilson at baseball practice with Hill Valley High: Despite photographic evidence to the contrary, Tommy Wilson is not a hitter, but a big-bodied, right-handed pitcher the Mets drafted with their 19th pick in the 2018 draft. According to Amazin Avenue, he went to St. Mary's College after high school, but since he's a slacker, he didn't play any college ball til he transferred to Pierce College in 2017. After a successful season there, he transferred again to perennial powerhouse Cal State Fullerton, where he went 7-0 with a 2.71 ERA, striking out 81 hitters in 89.2 innings and eventually finding his way to the Mets! Great Scott! He has since taken his 93 MPH fastball to Brooklyn and has not yet allowed a run in 6.1 innings in 2018. He's walked 3 and K'd 6. He's 22 years old so hopefully a rapid rise is in his future. And if things get rocky, we already know his grandpa Biff stole the DeLoreon in 1985, so alternate time lines where young Griff becomes a Major League legend are very very plausible. Fun little extra tidbit- I am one of his 27 followers on YouTube, where he posts really cool drone vids that he's shot. If this baseball thing doesn't work out... qgolq9oS2ns
  22. Dale Burdick is the very best thing. As previously reported, he started this season as a 22-year old in high A-ball. True to form, Dale //////CRUSHED\\\\\\ to the tune of .175/.282/.272 (.554 OPS) in 131 PAs and was naturally promoted to AAA where he is currently oh-for-eight. Since being drafted with the Mets final pick (40th round) of the 2014 draft (#1195 overall!), he's managed to play 5 season of professional baseball, amassing almost one thousand plate appearances, and his current career batting line is: .196/.308/.309 (.617 OPS). Since his offensive numbers don't scream it, I can only assume he must be A) one hell of a defender super versatile C) a great teammate or D) all of the above. I truly hope he gets a cup of coffee in the show one day to reward his perseverance, if nothing else.
  23. Update time. Since Thompson broke his hand, he hasn't seen much action this year and has turned in just a .673 OPS in 86 plate appearances. Those footsteps my boy is hearing might belong to newly acquired Will Toffey. Get better! Get some hits!

Yeah, I feel like that was different in previous years. Lots less spent on draft day this year. My team is a disaster. I can't get any traction at all. Is your team a disaster? Are you having trouble gaining any traction?? Maybe you need slugging first baseman CHRIS DAVIS in your lineup! That's right, Chris Davis is available for the right price! Inquire with the Pawnee Drunken Savages right away! DO NOT DELAY! But wait, there's more!!! If you act now, the Pawnee Drunken Savages with throw in AT NO EXTRA COST, one-time SUPERSTAR right-hander Danny Salazar! WOW-o-WEEE!!!!
