  1. This is a good club if and only if they get seven innings out of the starting pitcher.
  2. Really. With Altherr the alternative at bat, I might let Fammy do his worst and send him out for the 9th.
  3. Pitcher's spot up in the 8th, and then the options are Mazza, Diaz, and Lugo. If there's none on, I might consider sending Fammy up.
  4. If somehow Dom Smith doesn't stick with the team, they need to give him field level season tickets.
  5. I was thinking that. But putting Rosario in scoring position for free?
  6. I would have guessed way more than 100 career ABs for Guillorme. He seems like he's been Metly forever.
  7. Gary is great almost all the time, but I cringe every time he discusses probability and statistics.
  8. Wait...I thought Guillorme PHed for Lugo. I need to start paying attention.
  9. This is nice, but I have zero confidence that Diaz holds a one run lead.
  10. Phrases I never thought I'd hear: "LUIS GUILLORME! TIES THE GAME! WITH A PINCH HIT HOME RUN!"
  11. Meanwhile, some scoreboard watching: In Milwaukee, Hunter Pence helps out by scoring on a wild pitch and tying the game for the Rangers. In San Francisco, the Giants are beating the Phillies 1-0. If the Brewers and Phillies lose, the Mets wake up tomorrow leading the race for the second WC spot. OE - forgot about those pesky Cardinals, who are up 5-2 in the 8th against Pittsburgh and will be in a virtual tie with the Mets if they win.
  12. - A buddy of mine went on a trip to Wales at the beginning of the (first!) streak. I'm taking up a collection to keep him there till the end of the World Series - Lugo deserves a shout-out. Our bullpen has found an anchor. - Cano's injury worries me. He wasn't good until last week, but the alternatives are far worse. Nimmo gets hurt, move Conforto to center and start playing Smith. Smitty goes down, put in Davis. With Cano hurt, we have a lot more Hecheverria than any contender wants or needs. - I sure hope McNeil's cramp really was just a cramp.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: I'd've liked to see McNeilio get the turn at second in his stead, though. I don't want to see his infield skills resigned to the dustbin. Kind of. But I'd rather see Hech in the lineup than Lagares or Altherr.
  14. Diaz not doing a whole lot for his trade value. It's pure luck that it's not second and third, none out right now.
  15. Never heard of the mighty Quinn until this evening. But he just homered and put the Ponies ahead of the Ducks 3-0, so I'm calling dibs. Stanford grad, right fielder, 3rd round 2017 pick, toolsy type. But he's batting 9th and barely off the interstate in the Eastern League, so the odds are long against him cracking the Mets corner outfield corps. 4 solo home runs so far in the top of the 5th. Jason Krizan, Mazeka, and David Thompson in addition to my man Quinn. Ponies 6, Ducks 0 here in beautiful Akron.
  16. A friend's son turns 21 today and the family is celebrating by getting a suite at Canal Park in Akron tonight, so I'm going to see the Rumble Ponies play the Rubber Ducks. It's Shawshank Redemption night. First 1000 get a Warden Norton bobblehead. The jokes kind of write themselves.
  17. The pitch that was "so far fucking outside" was a pretty clear strike. Gardner looks depressed at the end of the video. Like he's been trying to get the Kase look, but realizes he's just not cool enough to carry it off.
  18. The obits are all along the lines of "Ex-Yankee Jim Bouton, who exposed Mickey Mantle as a party animal and noted that ballplayers sometimes take amphetamines, died yesterday at age 80." This is like remembering George Harrison for his career with the Traveling Wilburys.
  19. Fonz wasn't exactly powerless... How about Hundley in 10th?
  20. How about Fonz in the 10th spot?
  21. I think Beltran had an OBP up around .400 as a Met, and he probably cracked the top 30 in ABs. 6th?
  22. Frank Thomas Milone
