  1. Meanwhile weather.com's hour-by-hour has the rain continuing to midnight and then turning into showers. http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/USMO0787?from=36hr_topnav_undeclared
  2. ="soupcan"]Centerfield to address the media at 4:15 regarding his non-existent research and blatant attempt to discredit fellow forum members. I'm trying to land a job at the Post.
  3. soupcan to address the media at 4 p.m. regarding the incriminating photos popping up around the internet that have threatened his good-standing in the Ditch-the-Black movement. No word from the KC and Vic camps.
  4. We should ask the Yankees if there will be a game tonight since they are always the first to know.
  5. I don't think Leiter should start tonight.
  6. Thanks Yancy. I couldn't find yesterday's articles online. Basically, my two concerns about Pedro are his recovery time and whether he will regain some of his old velocity. That article seems to say we can be optimistic on both fronts.
  7. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Pedro says he's feeling great, and that he's already ahead in his recovery than he ought to be. But that's no secret; it was in the Daily News this morning. Yancy, do you have a link? I couldn't find this article.
  8. Glavine 6 Beltran 2 Mota 1 Wagner 1
  9. Rotblatt, take them. It is kind of a pain for me to be able to go, but I didn't want Elster to be stuck with them, so I intended to be a last resort. I'm not saying this just to be nice. For real, take them.
  10. Elster, if you want to go with craigslist, go ahead. You can probably make a profit.
  11. Elster, if you don't find anyone, I will take them. I should qualify this, I can take them if it is a night game.
  12. It was inevitable, but today at the gym was the first time I heard it: "If it weren't for A-Rod, he would have been at the Stadium getting ready."
  13. Tim McCarver: And there is Jeter cleaning out his locker, I tell ya Joe, just the way he carries himself in these situations, it just goes to show you that October is his time of year...
  14. to meet the M-E-T-S Mets
  15. Lidle confirmed dead.
  16. It said it in the caption of the newsclip on Newsday (taken from Channel 11 News) but they don't mention it during the clip.
  17. Beltran has a small tear in his upper abdominal. Says he's going to play through the pain.
  18. The Jeter bashing continues: http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/ny-sppow1010,0,2233056.column?coll=ny-sports-headlines
  19. CPF EXCLUSIVE: Torre Situation Could Go Either Way
  20. I am rooting like hell for Torre to be fired and Lou brought in. First of all, after listening to Lou during Fox games, I am convinced the man is an idiot. Secondly, and more importantly, I think bringing in Lou to deal with the tension on this team could be an all-out disaster. To take Yancy's idea a little further, I am hoping the near-misses are highlighted by some of the oddest behavior we have ever seen. I am hoping Lou will be emboldened by the success he's had since his last stint in the Bronx and take no shit from Steinbrenner. I am hoping Steinbrenner will feel he can criticize freely since Lou has no equity from the late 90's run. I am hoping the two will battle it out through the press until we have the first manager/owner brawl in the history of baseball. I want Lou to pull Abreu in the middle of an inning after he pulls up on a fly ball. I want Jeter to cut A-Rod out of the loop when they throw around the horn. I want Matsui to lose it and scream at Piniella "Will you stop fucking calling me Ichiro?" I want Carl Pavano to show up and be asked to leave. I want them to sign Barry Zito only to have him die of electrocution after mistaking Mariano Rivera's locker as his.
  21. Yancy Street Gang wrote: That was the original plan, and I would have stuck with it if everyone hadn't stopped voting months ago. Shame on us for just playing out the string. I'll admit it. There were quite a few times in September where I was just flat.
  22. Edgy DC wrote: Oh, yeah, trade Jeter NOW!!!! Jim Caple agrees: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=caple/061009&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos1
  23. Williams is my first choice too, then Bannister, then maybe even Pelfrey. I would have gone with almost anyone, even taking a flyer on Humber, before I went with Oliver Perez. While the other guys may not be great, I feel like Perez is the most likely to give up 7 runs in the second and kill our chances at that game and eat up the pen.
  24. Help me fight the dot and I will join you in your battle against black.
  25. For the first time in a while, I had the chance to listen to talk radio this weekend. We beat up on Mad Dog alot, but he was excellent on Saturday morning. He was talking about the Tigers/MFY Game 3. By the time I tuned in, I guess someone had said Kenny Rogers would be old news by Game 4 and that as long as the Yankees won, no one would care or remember. Russo was great, he said something along the lines of (I'm paraphrasing): You're right. At 4:10 this afternoon, you won't be thinking about Kenny Rogers. It'll be the dawn of a new day. You'll have your TV on, they'll be giving you the lineups and you'll smile when you hear those great names. Jeter, Giambi, Abreu...you'll have your drink ready, you'll be all set to go. The Yankee fan will be happy at 4 o'clock. At 8 o'clock, it'll be a different story. When A-Rod taps out to second base to end the game, and the Tigers are celebrating, and the Yankees will be hanging their heads in the dugout. At 8 o'clock, the Yankee fan is going to be miserable. Wondering how it all went wrong. You're gonna be angry. You're gonna snap at your wife. Not gonna want to see your kids even though you know it's wrong. You're gonna want to take this whole team apart. Fire Torre, trade A-Rod. You don't want to be a Yankee fan at 8 o'clock. But what are you going to do? It's 8 o'clock. You can't go to bed. You can't just shut off the TV and fall asleep. Your wife is going to want to go out. Maybe watch a movie. Meet some friends. But you're not going to be in the mood to do that. There's no football on. Certainly don't want to watch the Mets. No, the Yankee fan at 8 o'clock will have no choice but to watch the celebration. Watch every Tiger spill champagne. Watch them talk about how they never gave up even after losing Game 1. The Yankee fan will have no choice but to watch every last interview. That's what the Yankee fans has to look forward to today. Happy at 4, miserable at 8.
