  1. I love the Got Rings t-shirt. Ask him how many rings he has.
  2. It's a night game tonight. The Mets beat the Yankees. That gives us a full day to GLOAT. Everybody out there, wear your Mets gear today. Black or blue, orange dot or drop shadow, who the fuck cares. It's all GLORIOUS.
  3. Great IGT guys. I'm as high on the team today as I have been in years. RA=Ridiculously Awesome. Gotta love winning the game on a 152 foot one-handed HR. Bay sucks. Just seeing his face makes me angry. I can't wait for this infield to get healthy. Wright-Reyes-Turner-Davis makes me smile. I hope this guy is for real. I'm really happy with Rodriguez right now. Fuck it. Let the option vest. Let's keep this guy. Fuck rebuilding. Let's win it all.

It's not any different than the Mets playing the Astros real early. What if they were to trade for a stud or bring up a prospect that dominates late in the season? is that fair to the Phillies who may have to face him twice? Or just the plain dumb luck of maybe the Mets miss Halladay in the rotation and only face him 3 times, but the Marlins face him 6 times? I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly. The point is that the Mets are guaranteed play against a more challenging team than many of their opponents get. And that's not a random asisnment. They'll get them next year, and the next after that. The answer to this, is not to play them less. It's to pass legislation guaranteeing that they suck.

  6. I've been getting pretty good at the Ben Grimm philosophy (happy with Met wins, shrug of the shoulders with Met losses). But not last night. Wow that sucked big hairy moose cock.
  7. smg58 wrote: I'd trade Bay to the Yankees before I'd trade Beltran. Sure, Bay's under contract for at least two more years, but that's the problem. That, and I'm confident that Beltran is better than Fernando Martinez right now. We may well wind up loaded with pitchers in 2013, but parting with Pelfrey before then would do too much short-term harm I think. If he pitches well enough to bring back something valuable in the meantime, we'd be contenders with him. Keep in mind that two wins against Florida would put us at .500 and within three games of the wild card, with a lot of baseball to play. I'd listen if somebody was desperate enough to ask about Bay or Rodriguez, because I think the long-term benefits outweigh the short-term risks, and because I think we could absorb the losses. Otherwise, I'm conceding nothing. Yup. Oh, and I'd re-sign Reyes right away.
  8. Rubber game on the road. This would make for a nice cap to the road trip.
  9. Have you seen his numbers? The best thing he can do for his team is to ask out of the lineup. What am amazing guy. Putting the team first.
  10. I don't mind the black. (ducks) In fact, if I had to eliminate one uniform, it would be the pinstripes. (ducks again) The blue hat was, by far, my favorite. But ever since the orange dot, I feel like it's ruined. So my hat of choice lately has been this Spring Training hat: Of course, if the orange dot were to disappear, I'd go back to blue in a heartbeat. So, when I buy a controlling interest in the Mets it will be: Snow whites at home, blue hat (no orange dot) Road Greys with Old English NY, blue hat (no orange dot) This would be for 80% or more of the games. I'd be ok with the black uniforms or some other alternate jersey once in a while. In fact, I think a solid blue jersey could be cool if done right. All uniforms would say "Mets" at home and "New York" on the road. In fact, I would lobby to turn this into a law.
  11. And it breaks my heart that his great play lately may be paving the way for him to be in a different uniform, but I realize this is what's best for the team. Some assholes may remember him for the Wainwright curve, but I will remember this player. The one hitting frozen ropes all over the ballpark and running down fly balls like he was born to do it. He's gotten so many big hits, the eventual "Memories of..." thread is going to be 87 pages long. I love Reyes and Wright, but I think there is no question that the best player on this generation of Mets has been Beltran.
  12. This one, that don't exist no more: That photo always makes me smile G Agreed. I love the way Dakota is checking underneath the hat to make sure it's her father. My daughter does this too. She'll be bouncing along, and then gets struck with the thought "Wait, who am I sitting on again?" and pulls my face around to make sure it's me. When Turk was traded, Edgy posted something along the lines of "Sure, we'll let them have Turk, but can we keep Dakota?" Couldn't agree more.
  13. Come to the game and maybe you'll see Pridie's girlfriend!
  14. No way. The Kazmir deal was far worse. The Kazmir deal exemplified stupidity in that: 1. The club allowed a GM that was on the hot seat to make a panic move. 2. The club was not realistic in their assessment of a team that was on the periphery of a wild card chase. They should have been "sellers" rather than buyers. 3. Blue-Chip prospects shouldn't be traded at the deadline. If you're going to move them, do it in the off-season when there is plenty of time and motivation for everyone to get involved. That maximizes value. 4. Kazmir was traded before alerting other teams that he was available. There was buzz among GM's afterwards that they wished they knew he was available. At that time, Oakland was dealing away aces. This, more than anything else, is utter foolishness. You don't make a trade without doing your due diligence. 5. They traded him for a guy that they knew was hurt. 6. They traded him for a guy who was not good.
  15. I don't think I've ever felt compelled to punch someone in the neck (like FMan) until now. Douchebag.
  16. Story of the night has to be Fat Ed Hearn. Wow.
  17. Not at the break, not next week, not even tomorrow. NOW!!!!
  18. Terry's decision. Grumble grumble. Hard hit ball by Bay turns into DP. Howard's cheap GS. Grumble grumble.
  19. Let's keep exclaiming!
  20. Edgy DC wrote: I don't want to overstate the importance of that intentional walk to Schneider, but this game is 100% tied to Terry's decision there. The next game they lose is also. Yup.
  21. Watch out for LWFS's shit!
  22. Hopefully Livan Hernandez will not be able to concentrate because of this. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2011/04/livan-hernandez-drug-dealer-trial-nationals/1 "Utiliz mi nombre? En la calle? Mi nombre estaba en la calle?" "Cuando salimos de aqui, bajan en las esquinas, y deje a la gente saber: no me dijeron. Mi nombre es mi nombre!"* Love it.
