1. Thanks! Tong gave up 5H in 2.2 IP. Not great.
2. How are you following this game?
3. Metsonline.com is available for $5k Anything that ties into our history is too random for other folks. schaefermets.com StockholmMets.com Maybe something with the word “pool”.
4. Jurickson Profar suspended 162 games after testing positive for PED a second time. In case there was any doubt about his outlier year.
5. When you start thinking big picture, it’s crazy how early in the game our lives intersected with baseball. Really professional sports in general. If baseball does persist for hundreds of years, there’s going to come a point where they need to reset. Like are Mets fans going to want to give space in their stadium for Tom Seaver? Who is that? He played like 200 years ago.
6. Grae Kissinger fits that description of “if he got hurt in spring training you wouldn’t even notice”. Which makes him a solid Dark Horse candidate. Except he got hurt in spring training. Making him less of one.
7. I mean it's only fitting, considering the number he wears.
8. Is it fair to say he was sharp in the first, shaky in the second, bad in the third?
9. Why is it “ITG” now. I thought the other one was a typo.
10. I think someone tried to teach me once. Right now I'm posting the link, and clicking the youtube button. But that results in this error.
11. You underestimate Lambert. Who has is own signature song. (one day i will learn to embed videos but not today) ON EDIT: It was today! Thanks BG!
12. I understand this to strictly be a money thing. Costs a lot to broadcast the games for a lower return (preseason game on a Tuesday afternoon is not going to have a big audience). Makes sense. And I get that they want to maintain a certain level of production. But if they had Steve Gelbs out there with his Iphone and providing play by play, I'd probably watch that over whatever else they're playing at the time.
13. I’m sure there’s some reason for it but I wonder why SNY doesnt broadcast every spring training game. I’d certainly watch more than any other programming they have.
14. Yes. What FK said. And if somehow we go there and hate it we can always come home. It’s not like they’re gonna throw away the keys to this place. Anyway. Edgy I’m good with whatever you decide.
15. Awful news. Glad we didn’t trade for him.
16. Surprised no one has picked Byran Hudson yet. 6'8" sidearming lefty. (this is not my pick, btw)
17. Yeah. I don't love it. It's at the point now that "crazy" names are so common it's not crazy anymore. I'd be more shocked to find a team went with "Eagles" or "Comets" or something more mundane. I have no issue with the Syracuse Mets being their own thing. They were the Syracuse Chiefs for years. I'm guessing they'll steer clear of anything Native American. Salt Potatoes was the obvious choice. With a mascot named Spud. I'm open minded about a different name, but I hope that it's something that ties in with CNY, and not just a crazy name that's selected for the sake of being crazy.
18. #18 ranked prospect. Seems pretty Dark Horsey to me.
19. You don’t suck at anything. This place is not dying. And I’ll follow you and the other guys anywhere.
20. Among other things that sucked in 2026 (On edit: 2025. Oops), we had no Dark Horse Met for the year. Maybe that changes this year. Give us your prediction for Dark Horse Met 2026! For those that forgot, Dark Horse Met is the Met that comes out of nowhere to give us an unexpected jolt. Think Terry Leach 1987. Timo Perez 2000. Jose Iglesias 2024. Our criteria: 1. Not reasonably expected to contribute this year. No projected starters. No big name free agents coming off a down year. Has to be someone we expect to be a fringe guy. (IOW, no "Luke Weaver will bounce back", etc) 2. Can't be a premiere prospect (or at least, no longer one). No Carson Benge, Jonah Tong, etc. However, if Dilson Herrera were to somehow resurface and make a contribution, he would qualify. 3. The type of player if he were hurt/released/traded prior to Opening Day you wouldn't care. Vidal Brujan fits that description. MJ Melendez too. Ronny Mauricio does not. We have a lot to choose from this year. We've got a bunch of relievers in camp that I've never heard of. We have Brujan, Melendez, Tauchman. We have two catchers that will give Hayden Senger a run for his money. We have Hayden Senger. We have Craig ****ing Kimbrel. A couple of pre-emptive nixes. Tobias Meyers cannot be a Dark Horse. He's a real player and we're expecting him to contribute. Christian Scott is also not eligible. He's not on the top prospect lists, but he's only recently removed, and we are expecting big things from him. You can always predict that we won't have a Dark Horse Met, but that would be pessimistic. Spring is the time for optimism!
21. Hey Brock. Welcome to the CPF. Love that you are trying to keep small forum communities alive. Certainly beats arguing on social media.
22. Wife’s sister seems less evil than brother’s wife. Not that either is particularly good.
23. I think a LH bat off the bench was needed. Assuming Benge starts in the minors, we have one LH bat for spots 5-9 in the lineup (Baty). The bottom will three will likely be Vientos, Semien and Robert. The bench will have Torrens and Taylor, both righties. We needed a LH pinch hitter. Hope this is our guy.
