  1. At no point did I think the Mets would survive this game. Baseball is crazy. Hey. Let's never pitch Lopez again.
  2. Interesting tactic. Live middle middle and hope for warning track outs.
  3. Exactly. Which is why Mendoza needed to fight harder after that play. Point to the chalk. Etc.
  4. Literally hit chalk. I know the guy can't overrule it. But raise hell. Fire up your team and make sure you get the next close one.
  5. And of course that run scores.
  6. I don't like that Mendoza argues calls like a fucking wuss.
  7. I like the armored rule in theory, but I wonder if it's something that can be enforced without replay. You'd have to determine that not only did the guy get hit, but he got hit only on the body armor. I'm guessing the intent of the rule is the elbow guard. The elbow guard allows players to hang over the plate, and half-heartedly move to avoid an inside pitch. So I'd be in favor or that rule right away. Wear an elbow guard. If you get hit in the guard and no where else, no base. By contract, if you wear a shin guard and get hit there, I'm fine with getting the base. No one is sticking their shin close to home.
  8. Not just physical errors but mental ones as well. The ground ball where Baty stopped and Lindor was no where to be seen. The throw through by Narvaez. Difficult to watch.

  10. How is that not obstruction? I hate when the rule is not uniformly enforced.
  11. 3 walks and an error. Get one run. Of course.
  12. To me, the most worrisome part of the team was the offense. They were bad last year, and before the JD signing, did nothing to improve it. As of now, they're dead last in runs scored. And while we expect that to improve, I'm not sure if they'll end up any better than middle of the pack. I guess JD will help. But really it will be interesting to see if Gilbert, Jett etc come up and make a difference.
  13. Well. The offense was 18th in runs last year even with Tommy Pham. Running the same guys out there isn't going to do much. Hopefully JD gets up to game speed soon and some of the younger guys force themselves into the bigs.
  14. Obviously, I have no idea what actually happened, but I'm thinking that if Ohtani's lawyers let him issue a statement like this, then it must be that (a) Ohtani is telling the truth, or ( the lawyers reasonably believe he's telling the truth, or © at the very least no one will be able to prove that it's not the truth. It's one thing to cover your buddy's gambling debts not knowing it's a crime. It's another thing altogether to then accuse that guy of stealing.
  15. If we're deciding between JD's, my vote is for Jefferson Davis Hogg https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSy8H8_NJ1U9XGwQxPf7XnIGdS0aJ28i6DjmWiCFef1VA0L6L_jPwtaT7R8-OjydJqJb1H8mJytSK7ttV8Dy6KSegWVtjeQ3ZLMrfWE4uk>
  16. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=147142 time=1708049792 user_id=68] All your gripes are spot on. But the baseball commish is the MLB owners' water boy, really. None of that dreadful stuff would've happened without at least, the owners' consent, if not their outright insistence. In other words, it was all inevitable and would've happened even if youse were the commissioners of baseball.
  17. I've always been jealous that he has an awesome name like Ji Man Choi. And I get the John Smith of Korean names. Now he gets to play for the Mets.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: I like my bullpen lefties in odd numbers, possibly ending in 7 if at all possible, but Diekman gets 30, like he belongs in the rotation or something. The Orosco Principle. (Alternatively, the Dennis Cook Principle, or Darren Oliver Principle)
  19. Hard to pick just one!
  20. I've been reading more about this guy. Rough start, strong second half. Good WHIP as a reliever. I think I've talked myself into this being a good signing. I'm also optimistic about the upside of the bullpen as a whole. I still think the rotation is pretty rough, and I don't see how we can expect the offense to be any better than it was last year. But maybe an improved bullpen can get us in the hunt.
  21. Keeping in mind I've never heard Daniel Murphy in the booth, my immediate reaction is that I don't feel like I'd enjoy Daniel Murphy in the booth. I'm wondering if it's just the homophobic comment or if there's more to it. But to be honest, the Mets make up a big part of my nights during the summer, and the announcers are a huge part of that. I'd rather not listen to a homophobe.
  22. Throws hard. Command issues. Kinda like the right-handed version of the guy they signed the other day. Question. Let's assume the Mets pitching lab is for real. Does it make a difference if they sign a guy this late in the game? I mean, spring training is in two weeks. Is that enough time to fix him?
