  1. A SECOND HIT. In business now.
  2. Yeah, I don't know that I like Mendoza, but he's far down the list of what's fucked up right now. Honestly, I'm surprised we haven't been no-hit yet.
  3. How long until you can tell? He's already had 550 plate appearances in MLB and has a .603 OPS. Alec Bohm, in his worst year, had a .647 OPS.
  4. Tons of walks. HBP. Bad ABs. Bunt popped up. Flush this team down the toilet.
  5. If Diaz is this bad it's going to be a long season. Bad baseball.
  6. The Mets are 18th in MLB in runs scored. They're currently 20th in OPS. I don't know how you guys feel, but that sounds about right to me. On the plus side, the Mets are 11th in team ERA. So overall, a game under .500 .500 might just be good enough to hang around for the 3rd WC spot for a while. Hopefully none of those flawed teams gets hot.

  8. Pitching matchup favors the Mets.
  9. Frayed Knot wrote: So other than that 10-pitch sequence in the 3rd inning Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the game? Looks like I picked the wrong weekend to try quitting drinking vodka out of a funnel. So you switched to gin?
  10. Down 3. First pitch swinging.

  12. =kcmets post_id=154920 time=1715393109 user_id=53] [bIGPURPLE]Baty Ball!![/bIGPURPLE]
  13. I wonder if we'll even get another hit.
  14. We're never going to score again.
  15. I'm on board with standing ovations for Mets any time. Back to the contract. He'll be 30 in the first year of his deal. If it takes 7 years to lock him down, he might still be productive for 4-5 years of that deal. Goldschmidt, as you mentioned is now in his age 36 season. A better bet might be 3/4 years. And then you hope that he remains somewhat productive on the back end. Of course, that doesn't hold if you look at Ryan Howard and Albert Pujols. I think a few factors play in there. I think the shift played a big factor in Ryan Howard's decline. If you're making outs every time you pull the ball, it probably messes with your mechanics a bit. And with all sluggers during that era, I wonder if some of them were roided up in the early part of their careers, then put the needles away once testing got more stringent and the big contract was secured. No proof of that, of course, just wondering. As for Pete. To me, he doesn't seem like the player who would age well. But he'd almost certainly end up the career Mets leader in HRs, could be borderline HOF candidate, and would get his number retired. There's some value to that as well.
  16. He's just starting to get hot. There's an off day tomorrow. It doesn't make sense to me.

I saw those guys and thought to myself "Wow, these guys look like they'd go to Trump rallies. Would be nice to ruin their night. Oh wait, there's a black woman there, maybe not." It sucks. And I hate that I'm allowing myself to swayed by all the divisive rhetoric. Maybe after the orange asshole is behind bars we can someday go back to decency and the city folks and rural folks won't instinctively hate each other.
  18. Good exciting baseball!
  19. Might be cuz the Mets have basically sucked for weeks but I find the games to be no fun to watch. Bad boring baseball.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: =metirish post_id=154475 time=1715022537 user_id=72] I don't know what the answer is, but we need those tablesetters. Jeff has been this way for far too long. Nimmo swings for the fences , Lindor is showing life at least Nimmo is, when directed and freed to be, one of the very best tablesetters. Whoever got in his mind and told him that he was leaving power on the table by not guessing and jumping on the first pitch more has done him and the Mets a grave disservice. If Nimmo and Lindor embraced what they were best at (laying off bad pitches and smashing it the other way, respectively), it would be glorious. Fireworks, parades, and proclamations from City Hall on a weekly basis.
  21. At scoring runs? 17th in MLB in runs scored, 17th in MLB in OPS. Maybe the good news here is that they almost have to get better. McNeil, JD, and Lindor are all under .700 in OPS. McNeil might be washed, but the other two you'd think will end up significantly higher. Alonso's OPS is .715. That will improve. Nimmo's also below career norms at .744. But the others might be what they are. Marte, Baty, Alvarez, Bader. They kinda are what they've been. Maybe one of them will break out but you certainly can't bank on it. So far, the young guys on the farm aren't providing much hope. Jett Williams is injured and batting .179. Acuna's OPS is .595. Drew Gilbert is out until the end of this month with a hamstring. Maybe we call up Vientos and hope he's improved with the glove enough to stick around.
  22. Load is a little lighter when you don't need beer for the starting pitcher.
